What's the weather like in your area of Ireland - North or South ?
I'm in Dublin and nothing happening yet thank goodness.
DCs hoping school will be closed tomorrow and Thursday.

Cold, clear and sunny in Cork... supermarkets crazy apparently - queues down the aisles!

eloisesparkle · 27/02/2018 17:56

No bread left in my local supermarket yesterday.

After a bright, clear day it's now snowing in Cork, hopefully it will put out the gorse fires.

mustbemad17 · 27/02/2018 17:58

Essex here, been an odd one. Decent layer of snow this AM & was snowing heavy on & off this morning but clearing nicely now. Cold tho!

My DD has been off school today cos their boiler broke...sun's been cracking the flags, it feels like she's skiving 😂

eloisesparkle · 27/02/2018 23:16

Still no snow where I live in Dublin

OP posts:
FurryDogMother · 27/02/2018 23:21

Husband reports a total lack of snow in Mayo :)

Maryz · 28/02/2018 00:08

Snow where I am (west of Dublin) but more hailstoney than snowy.

I'm sort of hoping it never hits properly.

No red warning, so schools open (so far).

Shinygoldbauble · 28/02/2018 00:10

Snow in the midlands where I am but not a huge amount. If it stays like this i'd say local schools will open in the morning.

Topseyt · 28/02/2018 01:03

Virtually no snow here in Essex. Clear and very, very cold though.

GrainneWail · 28/02/2018 01:39

Just outside Dublin and the hail has given way to fluffy snow. I heard the milkman deliver a few mins ago... Too cold to go bring it in. I wonder if it will be frozen by morning.

CinnamonSweet73 · 28/02/2018 07:20

Good layer of snow in Cork this morning, still falling

GrainneWail · 28/02/2018 07:35

Red weather warning here - school cancelled today and tomorrow! About 2 inches so far. Seems this will be a grower rather than a shower Wink

mustbemad17 · 28/02/2018 08:32

Essex this morning 🙄 The Beast from the East has scuppered us this way; roads closed or blocked, schools closed, shops closed. The road pictured is a main route out of the village, usually drivable even in snow...eerily silent & empty today 😂

Snow has finally arrived in Dublin.
DCs delighted - no school.

OP posts:
FlaviaAlbia · 28/02/2018 08:58

-2 in Belfast according to my phone but no snow and clear and sunny. Quite breezy though.

Shinygoldbauble · 28/02/2018 08:59

No school here either. I think it could have opened but it's a rural school and buses aren't running so numbers would be very low.

Topseyt · 28/02/2018 17:19

Yes, I spoke too soon about the lack of snow in Essex last night.

It arrived with a vengeance after that. Schools and colleges closed and roads barely passable in our area.

That'll teach me.

qazxc · 01/03/2018 08:37

In Louth, yesterday a bit of snow and slushy roads.
This morning a good dusting of snow but nothing drastic ( a lot less than in 2010).
Creche will be closed until next week, luckily I'm on nights this week ( unless work closes).

mustbemad17 · 01/03/2018 10:26

We had no snow overnight, schools open...dropped the kids off & now its coming down with intent!!

FlaviaAlbia · 01/03/2018 10:31

I woke up at 5 and it was so bright this morning with the full moon and the snow. We've only got a couple inches at the minute but I couldn't get the car up the street, the wheels just spun out so I gave up, it's not worth it. DH is away on his bike as usual and got in no problems.

eloisesparkle · 01/03/2018 15:29

Can anyone remember the name of that wind tracker website mentioned on Mumsnet circa Storm Ophelia please ?

OP posts:
makeitso · 01/03/2018 22:41

I I use the Windy app. Is that the one you are looking for Eloise?

eloisesparkle · 01/03/2018 23:52

Yes thank you

OP posts:
qazxc · 02/03/2018 09:31

It was fairly windy during the night but no or very little snowfall ( louth). The roads are very icy, and personally I would avoid driving ( not just the road conditions, it's the fact that people tend to drive like idiots in unusual conditions). Tv3 keep saying we're one of the worst areas ( Drogheda), but honestly I don't think it's that bad. Still I'll stick to the recommendations, better safe than sorry.

Maryzed · 02/03/2018 09:59

We are buried. Over three feet in the garden, all roads into and out of the village closed Shock

I can't see dd getting into work tomorrow
