I am so sad for them. Everyone on the outside could see the madness of that monster being buried with his innocent family but they were (understandably) to deep in grief to make that decision. I'm so sorry they have to live with this horror Sad

Good.

A dreadful waste of lovely lives.

WorriedLAC · 10/05/2017 12:35

Relieved for the family that he has been removed from their grave, sounds like they met some awful resistance from the murderers parents, must have been even more painful for them.

Shocked to read that he did not want to be buried beside them and no one told the family, either that or his family decided against it. Cremation is still very un-Catholic for a lot of older more religious Catholics (even though it has recently been allowed).

I feel awful for Clodagh's mother and sister, I hope they do get to expose the evil bastard for what he really was.

Thinking of Clodagh's family today. May your loved ones rest in peace.

Thinking too of Alan's family.
It must be awful for them.

Hopefully, a Women's Aid refuge will open in Cavan.

So, his body was exhumed to carry our HIS orders as left in his suicide note?

BWatchWatcher · 10/05/2017 17:11

I hope Clodagh and her boys are getting some peace now.

From what I've read today it seems as though Clodagh's family requested he be exhumed.

'It has now emerged members of Clodagh Hawe's family sought to have Alan Hawe's remains removed from the grave a short time after their funerals last August.

^However the decision to exhume his body rested with his next of kin.
Independent.ie has learned that the order granting remission for this to happen was given in March.^

squoosh · 10/05/2017 17:12

Requested he be moved not to be in keeping with his wishes, but because they realised he had no right to be alongside the people he'd murdered.

TulipsInAJug · 10/05/2017 17:37

OK, the Independent article I read, linked to above, said his body was exhumed after a suicide note was discovered in which he stated he wanted to be cremated.

Of course the decision to exhume is his family's. But it would appear they were acting to carry out his wishes.

squoosh · 10/05/2017 17:39

It sounds like his family resisted the exhumation whereas her family decided they wanted him exhumed quite soon after the burial.

NorthernLurker · 10/05/2017 17:51

I suspect the vandalism of the grave played a part in the exhumation.

It should never have been permitted in the first place but I think the parish priest was in as much shock as the rest of the community.

Maudlinmaud · 10/05/2017 20:48

Was it vandalised Northern? I'm not surprised ill feeling runs deep but it's still not nice. More for his family than him iyswim. But fgs he should never have had a funeral mass with the victims he so cruelly murdered.

NorthernLurker · 10/05/2017 21:11

The article linked to said somebody tad written evil on the grave marker. Which is fair comment tbh but may have prompted action.

Maudlinmaud · 10/05/2017 21:34

Thanks, I either missed that or they have updated the article.

Its great news that he was removed. Clodagh's family are so amazing to have the strength to fundraise for a women's shelter in Cavan. It is just so unacceptable that support is not provided for people fleeing domestic violence in this day and age.

Clodagh's family sound like very compassionate people.

It will be interesting to hear what his 'fall from grace' was. If anyone in the know i.e. the Principal or priest eulogised him at the time they will have a bit of explaining to do. I am not blaming them they could never have known what he would do. It just sickens me when controlling men are held in such high regard when their families are suffering in their homes and know they won't be believed because of their 'great' husband/father.

mammyoftwo · 16/04/2018 10:48

Do we know what his imminent "fall from grace" was!

eloisesparkle · 23/04/2018 17:37

I think it was that he was watching porn in school but I could be wrong.
His fall from grace has been truly more spectacular than that- he is now a multiple murderer.

Claire Byrne Live is doing an interview with Clodagh's mother and sister tonight.
