I just saved over £10 on my foodshop by....

....shoppin online at asda rather than tesco. I had my whole tesco online grocery shop oder confirmed and everything, then out of curiosity went to asda and selected the exact same stuff and it came to over £10 less. The only difference is I couldn't get the brand of coffee I liked in asda. So I confirmed the asda order and cancelled the tesco one! I had thought right, if I shop in tesco they'll reward me with points which I can use to treat myself with something nice, but it's false economy. I've just proved asda IS cheaper! Oh and online shopping saves me a fortune cos you can see the total amount adding up and you're more careful about what you choose and you can compare prices more easily and when I've finished I can easily "click" 3 or 4 unnecessary items out of the "basket," thus saving me about a further £5. Oh, and no queues or traffic jams or trolley-bumping or heaving heavy stuff in and out of the car in the rain! Choose a £3 delivery slot and the pros far outweigh the cons!

I always spend less doing an online shop, obviously you don't buy those impulse purchases but I never seem to have the time to sit down and properly get through the website properly so I get everything I need!

Have to say and I know its probably not what you want to hear but I changed over from Tesco/Sainsburys last week to Asda because they are cheaper but I ended up binning a lot of their food as it went off quick and some of it just did not taste nice. Hope you have a better experience.

We tried Asda once last year rather than our usual Sainsburys.

A lot of the food was horrible, I remember throwing the cheddar away because it tasted so horrible, a few other bits were pretty nasty too.

I'd rather pay more and use Sainsbury's, but that said I don't like Tesco either, so maybe the difference is less noticable.

I like Ocado. Same as Tesco prices for a lot of their stuff so can be surprisingly economical if you select wisely.

I love doing my shopping online and know i spend less than if i went in.

I make sure I don't forget anything by adding to my shopping lst on mysupermarket throughout the week.

I think a lot of the critisism needs to be taken with a pinch of salt, to be honest! Your shopping comes from your local supermarket, so someones experience at Asda in Oxford maybe be very different to one in Gretna Green.

If you use that mysupermarket.co.uk, you can compare it all with Ocado and Sainsburys too. It then also comes up with cheaper substitutions (better deals and own brand) that saved me a bit more too. Love ordering food online. Our delivery men are also very friendly and helpful.

I do my shopping my on ADSA online and the food tastes fine. Rice is rice. Cheese is cheese. It's just packaging that's different.

asda's fine, what are you all talking about?! i suppose if you buy a lot of processed food you might notice a difference but if you can actually cook...

Asda are cheaper for branded packaged things, but I wouldn't get any of their own-brand stuff or anything fresh from them if I had the choice. (and I am a cheapskate recently-former-student)

What on earth are you all going on about? I really prefer Asda to Tesco - the food is much nicer, lasts longer and is cheaper.

The clothes are nice as well, especially the baby things, although they could do with slightly less gender stereotyping. I don't buy cheap processed stuff though, only fresh ingredients, and I find the quality and taste absolutely fine.

Reality, was it you (a long time ago) who was explaining how to make own-brand gin taste like the good stuff? I think the rules were: close your eyes and pour a double measure

Oh, the Scottish Asdas must be more upmarket than West Sussex then . Ours is rather middle class, from the elderly lady who greets people at the door to the sample tasting of sausages and stuff. Then at the weekends it gets taken over by vodka swilling junkies and neds

our nearest is perfectly nice, although there's one in parkhead that's a bit more feral. same can be said of tescos on that side of the city of course.

i don't really do supermarkets cos we live near a nice high st, i'm stricltly lidl and marks and sparks and local shops.
