I've not been on here recently. Had a spendy week last week, took DD shopping and had lunch out, highlights done, met a friend for lunch and drinks. We had a day at a NT place yesterday, took a small lunch then had scones/cake and drinks in the cafe afterwards which was £20. I did get paid for various jobs/cat sits last week which was good. Starting to put some into savings at long last!
We may not be able to go on holiday as my mum needs surgery for breast cancer. Date has been postponed as they want to do further biopsies, the original date was fine. I hope the insurance pays up! I may also have to miss out a week work which I had booked too.
Obviously, these things can't be helped but we've not been away anywhere this year. Until she has a definite date, I can"t plan or cancel anything.

Frugal25 · 27/07/2026 09:54

oh @Vinorosso74im so sorry to hear about your mum. Sending love. Frustrating about the holiday but as you say it can't be helped. Maybe closer to the time when you know a date you may find a late deal?

£3 yesterday on ice cream but that came out of the summer holiday budget. OH paid for the rest of the day.

Glad it's not just me that can't recreate hair at home @AphraBehn!

Such a good idea @Ovoemconservawith the budget for children. I shall nab that one for mine.

@RumBananaSundaehope today goes smoothly for you hun. Xx

Got a funeral today of a friends mum. He said that I didn't need to go but it's the right thing to do so I'll use my lunch hour to go. Boss is unwell today so if I go over slightly time wise at least he isn't clock watching me.

Just been charged £40 for a subscription I didn't sign up for. Have cancelled it and asked for a refund but I doubt I'll get it. Absolutely fuming. Companies are shocking

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 27/07/2026 09:59

Good morning everyone 🤗
Just on the way to see Mum,popped in to Aldis for waters and bits £25 .
Sounds like you've had lovely days @Vinorosso74, and it's nice the cat sits and other jobs have covered some of it and you've managed to put a bit into savings too well done that is so satisfying for you sweetheart 😊.
I am so sorry about your Mum though. Hopefully they won't keep her waiting too long 🤗.
Try not to worry about the holiday or work just yet. , easy for me to say l know bless you . But none of it's in your hands. Fingers crossed the insurance pays up and everything falls into place. Thinking of you all. ❤️

Good that the ice cream came out of the holiday budget and OH paid for the rest @Frugal25😊 .Hope the funeral goes ok today. It’s kind of you to go even though he said you didn’t need to. I’d be fuming about that £40 😡 hope you manage to get it back. Companies are so sneaky with these subscriptions.

Hi @Vinorosso74 and sorry to hear your mums news. You will get your well deserved holiday, once you know what's happening. Hard when things are uncertain, sending a hug. X

@Frugal25 oh I'd be furious too - hope you can get your money back!

I'm off work today - normally this is our mandatory day in the office - rest of the week tends to be out on service delivery and WFH so yesterday I relished not having to plan for the office, and today not actually being in the office or in work!

Weekend was spendy but I've drawn a line and made a menu plan for the week. Also logged calories on Nutracheck and I've just eaten a large slice of carrot cake. Should have left half for DH 🤭

Anyway today has been £13.30 for takeaway cake. We also went to look around some camper vans and motor homes at a place near here. That's one of my retirement dreams in approx 2 years but the way things are going I may just but a one next year 😂

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 27/07/2026 15:46

Ooh, exciting looking at camper vans@Lockin26. It'll be lovely when that retirement dream becomes a reality, even better if it is a bit earlier than planned! 😁👏🤞🙏. Glad you enjoyed your day and don't worry about the spendy weekend we all have those sweetheart 🤗 l envy you the carrot cake 🍰 😁😋

£25.19 on some walking sandals and a bag. The bag was rubbish so a waste of 20p. Some milk so £1.75 as well and just under £7 on some nuts.

Sorry about your mum @Vinorosso74.

Hope today went as well as it could for you @Frugal25. Boo the to the subscription. Second you on the companies being shocking.

That was good about the 20% discount @DirtyGertiefromno30. I like discounts.

Well done on a day one zero pot spend @Ovoemconserva.

Am watching He Man. Not sure about it yet. Have a train trip tomorrow to meet a friend a be a tourist. Hence the nuts purchase for our road snacks and the sandals. Ohhhh Dolph Lundgren is in He Man.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 27/07/2026 19:38

Ooh lovely @RumBananaSundae, hope the sandals are comfy and you get lots of use out of them 😊
Nuts are a good shout for the train, much better than paying silly prices on the way . Hope you have a really lovely day tomorrow with your friend, sounds like a nice trip. Dolph Lundgren in He Man . Very nice 😁

Frugal25 · 28/07/2026 12:07

Was he man good @RumBananaSundae? I'm tempted to watch. Boo to the bag. I did that last month, bought a bag and it broke the first time I used it. Enjoy today.
My OH is exactly the same in shops. I come away poor when he comes with me.
Ooohhh how are the trees looking @DirtyGertiefromno30?? I'm excited....

£8 this morning on a play date at soft play with DD friend and her mum. Money well spent .
Someone (aka, me) forgot to put the apricots away last night and came down to find the cats had eaten a few. Off out later to buy cat litter as we have now run out after this morning..... Sigh.
Also need to buy the rest of DD school uniform so that I know it's all done and ready for September. Will do that later and report back.
Yoga later which is £10.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 28/07/2026 13:36

Afternoon everyone 😊
Mum fine again today ☺️
Market spend only £2 for some Lindt choc bars for Mum . Changed my library books .2 loads of washing out.
That soft play sounds like money well spent if DD had fun and you could chill @Frugal25🤗. Hope the cats aren't poorly after their apricot snack! 🤦‍♀️ Typical that they always find what they're not supposed to 😂. Good idea getting the school uniform sorted now, one less thing to think about later. Enjoy your yoga later sweetheart 🤗

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 28/07/2026 17:24

Sounds like a fab day @Ovoemconserva! 😊 Those lunch boxes were a bargain, and I don't blame you for legging it to the till when you found the top in your size. 😂 Sometimes you've just got to treat yourself. Glad you've had such a lovely day 😊 👏

@RumBananaSundae hope He Man was good too, a friend has recommended it to me..

@Frugal25 boo to the apricots and litter, hope you enjoyed yoga.

@Ovoemconserva nicely rounded up spends and pleased you had a good day

@DirtyGertiefromno30 ooh I love Lintz chocolate lucky Nana P

Stressful morning at DMs but lovely afternoon - went to the local pub for snacks and cool drinks, then home for BBQ. DC (15 and 20) well impressed with grilled halloumi and peaches chucked into a salad. Plus burgers and ribs. Chilling in the garden now - will read for a while once I've done this post 📖

£37 Pub - drinks and food
£19 Lidl

Also last night I booked some flights to Paris for DD and I for a weekend away in November. Spendy! £££

Frugal25 · 29/07/2026 06:42

We didn't make it to the shops for uniforms. DD just wanted to play in paddling pool and I was fine with that.
I went to aldi after yoga and bought cat litter and a bit more fruit £4.75.
Also spent £10.65 on a swim session for next week as being the holidays you have to book up quick.

Should be a NSD today.

So sorry your morning was awful @Lockin26 but yay for the pub and the Paris flights!! A special occasion coming up? Peaches and halloumi. Delicious.

So glad your mum is ok @DirtyGertiefromno30 you sound like you were on fire yesterday.

Ooohhh love next things @Ovoemconserva well done!!!!

Lockin26 · 29/07/2026 14:18

@Frugal25 no special occasion. Since we are not having a summer holiday this year, DD asked if we can go to Paris. She wants to visit the Louvre and Eiffel Tower. I've never been so I said yes that's not a bad idea. I can spend the weekend in peace not having to keep anyone happy as she's not a bit of bother for a 15 year old!

So far today Amazon £26.85 ouch. Going to Bodypump later then Costco and will try to exercise restraint!

Ovoemconserva · 29/07/2026 16:27

So. Day three.
Free play date at our besties quite a drive so about a tenner in fuel.
I accidentally fell into Starbucks £4.74

No other spending to declare DD is refusing to leave the house again today 😆

RumBananaSundae · 29/07/2026 18:06

Had a who cares day yesterday and today have spent about £40. I do have two bottles of cidre. And a yellow stickered loaf of sourdough (56p) as I fancied poached eggs.

I thought He Man was OK @Frugal25. I have to confess I rarely watch anything the television is usually on for background noise. How are you finding yoga in this weather? (Sorry I’m being nosey) I’m really not feeling activity.

Glad your mum is OK @DirtyGertiefromno30 .

Grape Trees @Ovoemconserva? I like that shop but try not to go in as it is dangerous. I’ve had many accidental falls these last couple of days. Today was two bottles of cidre and some chilli wafer crackers things to have with goats cheese.

Halloumi and peaches @Lockin26? That sounds nice. I think I’ll give it a try. I spotted halloumi in the shop with 47 different kinds of feta. Sorry there’s been stress.

Had a lovely day with my friend yesterday. Trying to think about pleasant things today. Have legal stuff to go through. Also have a letter from the other side’s solicitor saying they can’t believe we’re going to court and this should have been resolved. Tossers. And work is getting even more skanky. Just wish I could find a job.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 29/07/2026 19:00

Ooh sounds like a lovely afternoon after a stressful morning @Lockin26😁 . Pub snacks and drinks then a BBQ, perfect. Halloumi and peaches in a salad sounds lovely, glad the DC approved! 😋
Paris in November sounds fab, even if the £££ hurts! 😂✈️ And £26.85 on Amazon ouch! Good luck resisting Costco later 😂.
Nanna Hedgehog had another Lindt bar today , she loved it 😁 😋

Thank you about my Mum ❤️ she was great again today thank God🙏Yesterday was a bit of a mad one for me , I was definitely on fire 😂
