Have just wizzed to Sainsbury’s and the queue for petrol is insane !
Drove past another petrol station and same again. The price for a litre has gone up by 5p since Saturday when I filled up .Has anyone else noticed or is it just a local problem?

Nope not here either - gone up 4p in about a week - this sort of thing is just scaremongering and fuels (excuse the pun) panic buying and silly behaviour - most of our fuel cost is actually tax which doesn’t double even if the barrel cost increases

My petrol station has gone from 1.28 to 1.41 in a week. Wtf to you live?

Since I can only use E5, I get an extra 19p a litre on top.

Anyone IRl who says it's scaremongering is going to get both barrels.

What rubbish !

i went to get some diesel today as i was passing Sainsbury’s and was down to 60 miles worth.

it was no busier than usual and I didn’t have to wait for a pump.

Where you are, possibly. My partner was at Sainsbury's yesterday and 8 of the 12 pumps were out of unleaded and diesel and once they had filled up the remaining 4 pumps were shut off. The price was 6p higher than when I filled my car up on Friday night.

My partner went to Sainsbury's at lunchtime and there were long queues at the pumps.

Imbusytodaysorry · 09/03/2026 21:43

@Iffytimes yes went to Tesco tonight and half the pumps off . Also price has had a 10pm or more increase

cramptramp · 09/03/2026 21:48

I was at our Sainsbury petrol station this evening and no queues.

BoudiccaRuled · 09/03/2026 21:57

This is not a local problem. Don't you read the news @Iffytimes ? Oil and gas prices are going to go stratospheric, but Trump says we need to take it on the chin.

Hotcrossed · 10/03/2026 05:43

a nearby garage reduced the price and there were huge queues yesterday

activetimeathime · 10/03/2026 05:57

You are very lucky with your fuel prices at the moment. We have jumped to £1.61 a litre for diesel in the last week. An increase of 19p.

CombatBarbie · 10/03/2026 06:11

The shell garage is one of 3 in my nearest town, 20p more expensive than the other 2 at 1.69 for diesel.

Yuja · 10/03/2026 06:35

Prices are up where we are but I see no evidence of queuing

Cornwallissunnytoday · 10/03/2026 06:37

No queues here in Cornwall. Everyone calm and sensible.

muddyford · 10/03/2026 06:41

In Devon we had them a week ago but not since.

Catcatcatcatcat · 10/03/2026 06:48

Not in my area (SE) Filled up at Tesco yesterday, drove straight into a spot.

Talkingtomyhouseplants · 10/03/2026 07:27

And you are making the problem worse by deciding to post about it 🙄

Local station where I am in Cornwall ran out yesterday, but never surprised with that place, as it happens maybe once or twice a year, so more than likely not related to what’s going on. The two main stations and ASDA are fine, no queues.

Prices certainly have gone up a fair bit though.

Beardycapri · 10/03/2026 07:47

No unleaded petrol nor diesel at Tesco Clifton Moor yesterday so I had to fill up with premium unleaded. To be fair, they could have been waiting for a delivery. If I’d driven further up the road I could have filled up there and saved myself 8p per litre.

I filled up at Sainsbury's yesterday after doing my shopping. Petrol had gone up by about 6p but there were no queues at all. I was with my brother on Saturday who filled up, again no queues.

I pass a couple of petrol stations on my way to work. Again no massive queues but petrol prices have obviously increased everywhere.

but petrol prices have obviously increased everywhere

This is not strictly true. Not yet anyway.

Where I live we only ever have a price increase or decrease on a certain day of the month. That is the first Wednesday of a new month in our case.

So there is a lot of talk of what the increase will be, but no-one will know until about a day or two beforehand.

So for now we have not had any fluctuation in price.

cartfred · 10/03/2026 08:26

Not round here they aren’t. Stop scaremongering.

FolioQuarto · 10/03/2026 08:32

No queue and no price hike at my local petrol station yesterday.

activetimeathime · 10/03/2026 08:57

£1.70 a litre with me this morning for diesel.

HelpMeGetThrough · 10/03/2026 13:14

In Cornwall and have just been to ASDA and there were no queues.

Belladog1 · 10/03/2026 13:16

I live in the middle of nowhere with one petrol garage. They ran out last Friday as everyone was filling up. Luckily they got new supplies in yesterday, and there have been no queues or shortage since.

ReadingCrimeFiction · 10/03/2026 13:17

I was wondering if this would happen soon. I'm conscious that I need to fill up as I have a long drive up north for a work event next week. I guess on plus side, I shouldn't have any issues filing up at large services en route.

Friendlygingercat · 10/03/2026 13:19

I am surprised that the Gulf states have not lashed back at Iran over these random strikes on their infrastructure. This war is hurting their bottom lines - oil and tourism. Saudi Arabia has a very powerful air force and its ruler ia a very influential figue in ME politics so I can see them all wading in to flatten Iran.

Teainapinkcup · 10/03/2026 13:22

a place up here closed off the petrol station (Scotland) must have ran out ? a lot of us may be keeping topped up. Little and more often filling.

MirandaWest · 10/03/2026 13:30

Quite glad we had both filled up our cars on Friday/saturday
