Have just wizzed to Sainsbury’s and the queue for petrol is insane !
Drove past another petrol station and same again. The price for a litre has gone up by 5p since Saturday when I filled up .Has anyone else noticed or is it just a local problem?

I filled up at Sainsbury's yesterday after doing my shopping. Petrol had gone up by about 6p but there were no queues at all. I was with my brother on Saturday who filled up, again no queues.

I pass a couple of petrol stations on my way to work. Again no massive queues but petrol prices have obviously increased everywhere.

Everycoronabubblehaspasseditsphysical · 09/03/2026 17:32

No..I just drove past a tesco petrol station.....very quiet

FadedRed · 09/03/2026 17:33

No, not locally.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 09/03/2026 17:36

Filled up my car this morning as I have a 4hr round commute to work tomorrow. Petrol station was busy but I was able to pull up next to a pump immediately and they were all in working order. 🤷‍♀️ More expensive but that was to be expected.

People are panic buying because the news and posts like this encourage it. I probably had enough to get me to work tomorrow but not back again. I usually fill up when I get there for ease but couldn’t risk the pumps running out because of panic buying. 🙄

Nope not here either - gone up 4p in about a week - this sort of thing is just scaremongering and fuels (excuse the pun) panic buying and silly behaviour - most of our fuel cost is actually tax which doesn’t double even if the barrel cost increases

ActoBelle · 09/03/2026 17:38

No queues here

RufustheFactuaIReindeer · 09/03/2026 17:39

We seem to have had a wee bit of panic buying here….but is very much area based and seems to have calmed down

Hotdayinjuly · 09/03/2026 17:39

It was quite busy at the supermarket yesterday but I was also surprised that it didn’t seem to have gone up there so perhaps people just wanted it from there as it was cheaper

WiseMoose · 09/03/2026 17:40

What rubbish !

i went to get some diesel today as i was passing Sainsbury’s and was down to 60 miles worth.

it was no busier than usual and I didn’t have to wait for a pump.

Senmum2026 · 09/03/2026 17:47

I always find at petrol stations that there is either a massive queue or virtually no one there. It doesn’t seem to be pretictable. My usual petrol station looked quiet when I drove past.

soddingspiderseason · 09/03/2026 17:47

No queues at my local Tesco petrol station.

hattie43 · 09/03/2026 17:49

No queues locally here .

Fluffyholeysocks · 09/03/2026 17:49

No queues here (midlands).

Chemenger · 09/03/2026 17:50

No queues at our local petrol stations, didn’t seem to have gone up in price either. I filled up because I was down to 40 miles worth.

Blueblell · 09/03/2026 17:51

Well it was on the news today about price rises so it was bound to prompt people to fill up.

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 09/03/2026 17:51

We passed a filling station charging 176.9 for diesel this afternoon. No queue, funnily enough! Rural Ayrshire.

Ohchocichocolate · 09/03/2026 17:52

Mine was quiet at 2pm. Straight on a pump with others empty. It’s always busy at 5pm in my experience.

Ilovemyshed · 09/03/2026 17:53

Topped up this afternoon, noone else on the pump. Normal queues tonight in the very cheap one.

Kelta · 09/03/2026 17:53

We had queues at the pumps last week. Today not so much since I suspect most people have already filled up and are still using that.

Lots of upset about the cost of heating oil though. There are a significant number of properties in the village which have no gas connection and the cost of oil has gone through the roof.

Ermm I was mentioning what I witnessed today. Not bollocks, just fact ! As I said in my post ,maybe its just locally.Glad it’s not a widespread problem so you can calm down now 🙄

BiteSizeByzantine · 09/03/2026 18:08

It was busier than usual where I live.

exdxb · 09/03/2026 18:09

filled up yesterday and all was normal and price much the same as usual too - I use all different petrol stations as out and about a lot so couldn’t be sure if it was a bit more - was 135.9 for petrol at an asda - I didn’t think that was a jump. I did stop at another services on the motorway for M&S lunch and didn’t buy fuel as it’s always 20p/l more than elsewhere and it was normal busy - no queues. Drive past several more local ones today - again no queues

godmum56 · 09/03/2026 18:10

The idiots round here all queued up yesterday, all quiet here again today.
