Sainsbury's have Lindor chocolates for Β£5.50 instead of Β£7.50 with a loyalty card.

cleo333 · 04/11/2025 22:13

Like this- asda chocolate tubs eg heroes etc are the cheapest now

SockHop · 04/11/2025 22:29

Rainbow1901 · 04/11/2025 22:44

It was a break even day today! Spent a fiver on soft drinks for me and a friend at a funeral wake but then got a fiver refund from Vinted for a parcel which was never delivered last month! Can't complain! πŸ€”

We've done half of an operation Christmas child box so I'm going to buy a few more things. I missed the main drop off last weekend but can take it to someones house before this weekend. DH wants me to buy bits with DS today but I hate shopping with him and he'll want all the toys. So I might go on my own this evening when he's gone. I went for a walk around town yesterday on my lunch break and didn't buy anything. I did like some Christmas tea bag advent calendars. One was about Β£5 and the other Β£10.

Crucible · 05/11/2025 06:30

Pizza express doing triple value clubcard points again, I'm chuffed that's back!

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/11/2025 07:12

Thanks Mary for the new thread

nor much to report here.

vinylvibes · 05/11/2025 07:15

Ooh love the title 😊 Got my Tesco points too. Over the moon πŸ˜πŸŽ„πŸŽ„

FurForksSake · 05/11/2025 07:48

I got on with listing my trousers on vinted, one pair I should have looked up as I’ve obviously under valued them. They got 13 favourites and sold before I’d finished holding everything! Someone got a bargain and Β£7 is fine for me.

FurForksSake · 05/11/2025 09:24

And another sale! I’ve made Β£12 this morning. I’ll list another load tomorrow I think, I’ve got some dresses and a coat to list. I always feel a bit nervous of reviews.

Found a direct debit that we didn’t need, got dh to nix it.

we’ve got a lot of octopus credit and I’m trying to decide whether to get some of it out.

needastrongoneagain · 05/11/2025 09:47

Checking in, morning.

Thank you so much for the new thread mary.

Like life - nothing much to report here! Got family visiting today so should be a NSD.

FurForksSake · 05/11/2025 09:52

And then I spent Β£20 on a shortbread hamper πŸ˜† to be fair it will bulk out dh’s stocking so that’s ok.

I’m going to make my red cabbage and Christmas cake today. I make enough gravy and red cabbage for mil, she has a slightly difficult companion who she lives with. We get on, but it’s hard work, so we don’t do Christmas with them for the whole day, they’ll come in for sandwiches and tea. But I make sure they have some special bits. He’s late 60s and she’s early 70s and perfectly fit and sharp. It’s worked out well being the four of us for Christmas Day. Some years we’ve gone on a very long walk, but usually we have just a quiet one.

im trying to spread the cost a little and make some sensible choices this year as I’ve got to reign in the spending.

pistachiosanscream · 05/11/2025 10:07

Thanks @MaryGreenhill for the new thread and i love the title.

So the plumbing repair came in at €180 and we now have a woking willis immersion heater that we didn't even realise existed. We now know what one more switch in the hotpress operates. We will have to replace our hotwater tank though, its original to the house and we will probably look at january/Fenruary for a replacement. I also want to get a few more plumbing jobs done then too so i'll need to start saving.

This month is very tight, the repair, a large electricity bill (i switched after getting it) and small childs birthday have cleared out the joint so we will have to fund this more. We will also need a fill of oil soon. i'm coming down around to the idea of cancelling the family membership for the gym and just signing up myself. They do 20% off in December and i get 10 free passes with that so DH could still join for family swims etc.

MaryGreenhill · 05/11/2025 13:26
