Can I join? 😊 I seem to spend a ridiculous amount of money on absolutely nothing. Hopefully by adding to this thread it will help me keep in check of where it's going and encourage me not to overspend!

Bought my 2 Dds and a friend's Dd their advent calendars . Tonys Chocoloney and 2 Reece's pieces one but omg they are so expensive.
The TC one was Β£10 on clubcard in Tesco and the Reece's was Β£6.
Β£22 on 3 advent calendars πŸ™„
They had 700mls of Baileys for Β£9 on clubcard
The 1litre bottles were Β£14 , now l think that is a lot for the 1 litre bottles tbh but a steal for the 700mls.
Had a good mooch around and found the boxes of cheese balls on offer there too for Β£2.
Good offers there l thought Welcome just join in @Sharkstale everyone is lovely here πŸ€—

I managed to get Reece’s advent calendars in Aldi for Β£5 something, that felt pretty reasonable.

im about to pay the milk bill, its only Β£7

sharkstale · 07/11/2025 14:27

Thank you 😊 well so far today I've spent nothing, but did spend £14 last night on fish and chips and £3 at the garage on chocolate and milk. Really need to cut out the takeaways!

MaryGreenhill · 07/11/2025 14:28

That's a really good price @FurForksSake well done .
Can't believe the price on them tbh πŸ™„
Fish and chips is so expensive these days l don't have a fish if l ever have anything from there . I just have chips and l don't really miss the fish tbh . Saves me about £9. I am a bloody misery though just call me Mrs Scrooge @sharkstale🀣🀣🀣

I agree, they’ve got sooo pricey. That’s why I nabbed them in Aldi when I happened to see them. I got lots of bits in Tesco yesterday on Clubcard prices in the chocolate aisle, I was half tempted by the baileys but actually I just need to buy two or three minis as I never get through a full bottle before it goes out of date.

FurForksSake · 07/11/2025 14:32

With fish and chips we at times buy the Birds Eye or similar fish and cook that and get chips to share alongside. Makes it more affordable. Fish and chips used to be fairly regular but is now a treat.

I have done this too . I just can't bring myself to spend £9 on a piece of fish and half the time the portions are small. Bugger that for a game of soldiers 🀣

We also freeze left over chips πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

sharkstale · 07/11/2025 14:44

My reason for getting takeaway was that on a Thursday my daughter does karate (another expense but paid termly), so after picking her up with the lo in tow, it felt more convenient. But I suppose it doesn't make any sense financially to add takeaways on top of the lesson cost, that would effectively push it up by Β£60 a month! (Wow) I think I'll be adding some frozen battered fish to my shop which I can put in the air fryer next week.

Ive almost finished spending money thats not mine, i.e my dad for his kids and grandkids. Its a slog.

ChipshopPickledEgg · 07/11/2025 14:51

Β£43 in Primark - Β£10 of which will be returned.
Β£10 in boots on toddler vitamins. School reported an increase in children going home with flu like symptoms yesterday so I also need a about a kilo of bubble wrap.
Β£10 Starbucks
Β£15 steak for tea

Bob Marley is the singer, Jacob Marley is from a Christmas Carol, I think? And then it’s Bob Cratchit.

@sharkstale as a child there was a time that we got fish and chips weekly after piano lessons for similar reasons. It was nice but not for vey long either for health or cost reasons. The price of fish is high, cod used to be cheap but I've noticed in fish and chip shops now, often haddock or other fish is cheaper.

lifelongfrugaleer · 07/11/2025 16:19

I feeeze leftover chipper chips. They fry up nicely in the air fryer after.

Spends Β£95 Lidl, Β£35 Sainsbury’s, Β£50 Amazon in coffee bill buy.

PearlTeapot · 07/11/2025 16:56

Got an email from British Gas to say our fixed price is ending so it's going from Β£200 a month to Β£300 a month. Argh.

I had been considering a move to EON anyway so think I'll do it now.

FurForksSake · 07/11/2025 17:02

ouch that’s a jump!
