A 500g packet of mince in Aldi is now over £5!! What on earth is going on???

No it's not free. If it was, it's only available for people with clinically diagnosed coeliac disease and I think there are even new restrictions around what they can get on a prescription. (and the price of the prescription may be more than the food in a supermarket.)

I don't think coeliacs have been able to get food on prescription for a good number of years now. Sadly. On the plus side, at least food they can eat is much more widely available in supermarkets (which is the justification for NHS discontinuing prescription bread)

@WeNeedToTalkAboutIT I just made Festive Apple Preserve Recipe - Great British Chefs this recipe - I add cinnamon and salt to mine for more of a caramel type dessert spread, but you can swap some of the water for vinegar to make more of a savoury chutney with chilli flakes or sage for Christmas.

I also don't use a jelly bag or strainer so my preserve is far thicker and more rustic than this pretty clear version!
