How much is your weekly food shop, I try stick to a budget of £60-80 per week but really struggle so I'm intrigued how much others spend. My price gets dinners for a week and a couple other food items. No toiletries etc.

£80/90 a week

thats for 3 of us 7 days and 1 of us 4 days

all breakfast and evening meals with puddings 4 days a week but only one for lunch each day - everyone else eats lunch out and all adults

it does include guests and wine once a week at the weekend for dinner

scottishmomma · 20/01/2025 18:37

Our food shop generally costs about £90/100 but I can make that stretch 2 weeks.
I will have to nip to shop for milk and fruit a some point though.
Family of 4

I have a very tight budget (single parent on disability). 1 adult, 2 teens (including toiletries/cleaning products), 1 dc has a school lunch provided, 1 dc has afrid. I shop every 10 days (tesco) online and spend £50-60. I meal plan every meal, buy in bulk or when things are on offer. I buy a few extras each week to stock up and make sure I have enough for school holidays.

MassiveSalad22 · 20/01/2025 18:42

Had Ocado this morning - £128. 5 of us, but 3 kids so school/nursery dinners 5/3 days a week. Probably will get a couple of takeaways too. Includes lunches(couple of kids packed lunches too, which they sometimes have at dinner time), few toiletries, dinners, breakfasts. Sometimes is £160 ish, seems to alternate.

popandchoc · 20/01/2025 19:49

Usually about £80 on main shop and then another £20-30 on little shops. One adult and two children.

AdoraBell · 20/01/2025 20:02

Next delivery will be £113

Anonym00se · 20/01/2025 20:07

I went to Aldi earlier for a ‘few bits’. Fruit and veg, block of cheese, 10 eggs, 1 small pack of smoked salmon, tub of plain yogurt, 2 tins of pineapple, sparkling water, kitchen towels and wipes. £60!!!

I can’t get below £100 for two adults (plus one other adult dd who is rarely home so I tend to disregard her now).

Caterina99 · 20/01/2025 20:11

Around £90 to £100 per week in lidl. 2 adults and 2 primary age kids. Kids get free school lunches and one adult gets lunch provided at work 3 days a week. Includes a small amount of alcohol and cleaning stuff and basic toiletries. Very rarely eat out or get takeaway.

Quite often I do a top up shop in Morrison’s or Tesco on a weekend and get some nicer bits I can’t get in lidl. Probably comes to around £20-£40. That’s maybe 2 weekends a month. I’m not actively budgeting though, just keeping a general eye on spending.

Bamy · 20/01/2025 20:14

1 adult and 1 teenager.

Usually around £65 for the week for breakfast, lunch and dinner for us both as my teen won’t eat the school lunches, basic toiletries such as shampoo, shower gel and cleaning products.

Some weeks are more and others less depending what cleaning products are needed. I never buy alcohol though.

Vettrianofan · 20/01/2025 20:14

Too much.

wildmushrooms · 20/01/2025 20:21

Around £160 a week for 2 adults and a 4 year old.

Gingercatlover · 20/01/2025 20:26

Budget for £120 and can't seem to get it less than £130 at the minute, even with one back at uni - so that means, 2 adults and one teenager, plus the cat.

Last week it was nearer £160! Tesco keep chucking 25/50p on several items a week. It's quite worrying really.

daisydalrymple · 20/01/2025 20:26

Around £150 a week. Me, DH, ds17, dd15, ds10. Also Cat. 3 packed lunches x5 days for all dc.
Sometimes need top ups for veg, fruit, bread mid week.

WorkCleanRepeat · 20/01/2025 20:33

About £120 per week. 2 Adults, 2 primary aged children.

There will usually be takeaway or a meal out of some description thrown in over the weekend too.

idontknow54789 · 20/01/2025 20:34

I budget £600 a month for a family of 5. That includes formula and nappies for the baby and probably too much wine for me and DH. Very rarely go over except for Xmas and I feel like we eat quite well.

MrsR87 · 20/01/2025 21:14

I really am in awe of those with totals of less than £100!

We are two adults and two toddlers and it’s between £140-£180 consistently. I’m including nappies and personal care items in that but still!

FlutteryButterfly · 20/01/2025 21:49

£200 all in. 4 adults (adult children) and a dog. Includes big shop, top ups, alcohol, toiletries, cleaning products and dogs food/treats/hygiene etc. Big shop Lidl or Aldi, top ups Tesco with some B&M/Home Bargain trips.

Winterscoming77 · 20/01/2025 21:51

I’d say £140 a week Lidl plus £30 x 2 a week top ups at CoOp. So that’s £200 a week. Plus a takeaway but that’s a luxury.

that’s actually insane

Mrsttcno1 · 20/01/2025 21:55

Typically about £110-120 for 2 adults & a baby, but my husband does eat a lot of meat so that includes steak/chicken breast/burgers etc which bump the price up, and as baby is weaning there’s a few items I wouldn’t usually buy but am to get her used to a range of meals etc.

That doesn’t include baby formula, nappies, wipes, toiletries, cleaning products etc though. Baby stuff is another £20-25 a week, toiletries & cleaning isn’t a weekly buy probably once a month at about £45ish.

Toolardy · 20/01/2025 21:59

Always over a £100 for two of us. (Tesco). I feel we get the minimum. Not many extras. Tried Aldi one week and while they had different things I didn’t feel it was much cheaper. Often do a small top up during the week

Ditto - 4 adults and 1 dog = £200/week, mainly at Morrisons. It’s nigh on impossible to get everything for less than that atm.

DanceMumTaxi · 20/01/2025 22:06

Average around £130-140 a week. 4 of us, dc are 12 and 9.

That’s amazing! Can you give us some plan examples?
I spend about £80/ week. Four adults, completely random who’s in when so lots ends up in the freezer and I regularly have a week off. No milk (hurrah) that takes up so much fridge and headspace!
Edit to say that looks very frugal but no lunches, few breakfasts. Doesn’t include alcohol.

Elizo · 20/01/2025 22:09

75 me and DC 15

coralsky · 20/01/2025 22:10
