The cost of kids pyjamas!

I was In M&S today and picked up 3 pairs of new pyjamas for my 4 year old DD and they cost £44!!

Yes I know I could have gone to a different shop and I do usually buy most of her clothing off of Vinted or Asda etc but I happened to be in M&S and I liked them.

How can 3 pairs of 4 year olds pyjamas from a supermarket shop cost £44, everything is so expensive.

I used to be a sucker for thd kids pj's from John Lewis ( before COLC) but I never, ever bought them full price. They are pretty much guaranteed to still be available in the sales, at half price. Pjs are definitely a sale item in our house. Buying full price is crazy.

We make do with hand me downs and sainsburys now.

How long do you need children s pyjamas to last.
They will have grown out of them before they wear out.
They are not doing manual labour in them.
You can get nice ones in Poundland for £7.

I'd have been investigating Primark and supermarkets for what I assume are cotton PJs - I know I can buy cheaper than that for myself there.

Yes I bought 3 individual pairs rather than the 3 pack, I know you can get cheaper pairs/sets from M&S as I have got them before.

I suppose I was just shocked at the price for children's pyjamas, I usually buy from Vinted for multiple reasons.

I agree that clothing from M&S etc lasts longer and is better quality.

3 seperate packs for £44 is not that bad.
£15 a pack. Quite reasonable.
Well made and hopefully not from exploitative labour too.

We love M&S pyjamas as they last at least two children in this house and are repeatedly washed. I’m happy to pay for them

M&S and Asda are really great quality I always buy in the saw a few sizes bigger as I wouldn't pay full
Price . Or my dad sometimes buys as part of a birthday/ Xmas gift if he asks what the kids need

*sale

Try Primark not M&S.
£44 for 3 isn't thst bad I think in a shop like M&S. Could be worse.

QuillBill · 24/10/2024 23:36

I think £44/for three sets is OK.

I buy M&S 'baled pyjamas' for myself and they are £12 and always cheaper in the run up to Christmas.

My DDs are adults now but I was shocked at the price of kids PJs 20 years ago. Where we lived then there was a Debenhams and I picked up a few packs, had twins, and quickly decided to go to Sainsbury’s instead.

Look online and see which shop, either on your area or order online, has the best options.

Alwayswonderedwhy · 25/10/2024 09:50

That is a lot for kids pj's. Strangely the adults basic PJs in M&S are cheaper than Sainsburys. I was looking last week and they're £18 a pair from.TU compared to £12 in M&S.

wiesowarum · 25/10/2024 09:52

Choosing to buy more expensive items when much cheaper ones are available, but you happened to prefer the expensive ones, isn't a COL issue. If you can afford the M and S ones then buy them and sell on when they're too small. If you cannot afford them then buy something cheaper elsewhere.

DeathMetalMum · 25/10/2024 09:54

We often get Christmas pj's from M&S they do kids 2 for £15. I this week spent £56 on pyjamas for dd's- asda. This was for six pairs and a pair of slippers. They are also in the biggest sizes as 11&13. Seems a lot in one go but actually very reasonable.

Bunnycat101 · 02/11/2024 21:38

There is 2 for £16 for quite a few of the kids pyjamas at M&S- if you’ve bought one of the selected items I’d do a refund and re-buy.

Some of the pricier ones are fleece. I always get mine some of the fleecy ones for winter as they are really toasty and warm. Cotton will be cheaper.
