Wash, restyle and full head highlights £220 in the very outskirts of London. I'm very happy with the result but the cost was a bit of a shock. Coupled with a tip for the stylist and the junior the total was £250. I know I didn't have to tip but I always tip for services. I normally get my hair done in my home country and it's significantly cheaper.
May I ask how much you pay on average for similar?

Jeez you tipped £30? Mine gets a quid if I'm feeling generous!

DrStrangesSmarterSister · 01/06/2024 22:27

I don't tip my hairdresser at all because I don't really understand how much you're supposed to tip and it stresses me out, so I just don't 🙈.

Eiriu · 01/06/2024 22:40

£15 for the stylist, £5 for the junior who washed my hair.

Mycatsmudge · 01/06/2024 22:53

How much do you pay in your home country?

Mercury2702 · 01/06/2024 22:56

East Yorkshire and cut, blow dry, full head of highlights and olaplex treatment £72. Was £65 and this is the first price rise I’ve had in the few years I’ve used this particular salon

Ohgoodlord · 01/06/2024 23:29

North West....£300 just for the colour. Sadly, there's no one as good.

psuedocream3 · 02/06/2024 08:14

Last time I had mine done, about a year ago, was £280 for cut colour and finish. Unfortunately they decided not to do balayage and keep the ash blonde, and did full head highlights in a bright yellow blonde instead. The cut was good though.

I now do my hair colour myself, probably costs around £20 each time for the bonded bleach, toners, developer, bond repair and finishing products. And it looks so much better.

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 02/06/2024 08:16

About £80 in Scotland. I never tip.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 02/06/2024 08:19

Zone 4 London and I’ve paid everything from £90-£300 depending on the salon and stylist level (can’t say the most expensive was the best).
don’t tip so much- that’s insane!

ThePoshUns · 02/06/2024 09:09

I have a mobile hairdresser.
Full head of foils, cut and blow dry £85.
I'm in wales.
I do miss the salon experience but not the prices!

ShinyBandana · 02/06/2024 09:33

Half head highlights, all roots, toner, cut and blow is £95 in salon. I’m in Merseyside.

Eiriu · 02/06/2024 14:31

Wow such a wide array of prices. I tried a box due once during lockdown and it was an unmitigated disaster. In my home country I pay €120 for full head of foil highlights, wash cut and blow dry with a senior stylist. I think I'll stick to getting my hair done when I go home

Well my cut and finish costs less than the £30 that you left in a tip - £29.50 in a small local salon and it's always a nice cut.

I think it would be £70/80 with a colour, but I've never had that done. I've always just use a box dye and it's absolutely fine for covering greys/being more interesting than boring mid brown, although you don't get 'streaky bits' like you would in a salon.

But I hate doing it and am thinking of having a salon colour but I don't really know what I want or what to ask for Blush. Must talk to the stylist next time I'm in, will make a change from being interrogated about what holidays I'm going on.

AnneElliott · 04/06/2024 21:26

I have a mobile hairdresser and she does me and a friend at the same time. Cost £55 for T section of highlights and a wash and blow dry.

malificent7 · 07/06/2024 07:49

I had to stop highlights due to cost but you can find some good students in your local hair and beauty college who charge a lot less.

jackstini · 07/06/2024 08:10

£82.50 which I round up to £90

Roots, highlights, blow dry and curled - in East Midlands

Littlelillies · 07/06/2024 08:39

About £60 for a wash, cut and blow dry.

I don't colour my hair anymore. Saves a lot of money and time!

dutysuite · 25/06/2024 17:13

Up until the middle of last year I used to get my hair highlighted every 6-8 weeks, half head and cut/trim and it was about £136. It’s now £200 due to price hikes so I haven’t been since last year, and as a result my hair now looks like I have balayage. I stopped tipping a few years ago.

butwhatabouttheroses · 26/06/2024 07:59

Full head colour with foil highlights and a cut;

Local salon £120
Lady who works from her home salon; £75
Local college £25

Guess which one I'm going to today for my cut and colour?! Grin

Admittedly the college takes a little longer as the tutor comes over at regular intervals to check, but they offer a really good service

Just a wash, cut and blow dry is £5 and eyebrow waxing only £2! Okay, you don't get the whole 'salon experience' but I'm on a tight budget and it's really helped.

Startingagainandagain · 26/06/2024 08:36

Prices in London (where I used to live) are ridiculous, especially for colouring.

I now do my own colour (after being repeatedly dissatisfied with hair salon results) at home.

I still have my hair cut every couple of months as it is a shorter style locally (SE town) and pay about £40.

I don't tip either.

Augustus40 · 07/07/2024 04:17

I feel very smug here in stating I cut my own hair. I bought a hairdressing set off Ebay over a year ago and never looked back. As for hair colouring I have been using Loving Care home dye for 30 years!

Astrabees · 07/07/2024 08:17

I pay £125 for full head of highlights with cut and blow dry in Gloucestershire, I think this is good value.

Justleaveitblankthen · 07/07/2024 08:21

DrStrangesSmarterSister · 01/06/2024 22:27

I don't tip my hairdresser at all because I don't really understand how much you're supposed to tip and it stresses me out, so I just don't 🙈.

Me too. I can't believe how much time I think about this during my appointment too 😅

I'm the same when I get into a Taxi.

Justleaveitblankthen · 07/07/2024 08:25

Oh, this has just reminded me of when I went to a hairdressing college.
I was asked if I wanted a brew and said, "Oh yes please, that would be lovely"
The poor girl was stood there awkwardly as I sipped, eventually telling me I needed to pay for it 😳
