How much is your gas and electricity?

Hi
how much is yours? Ours has gone right up to £770 a month for both with united utilities. We have a 5 bed house and do have a hybrid car. We are in arrears as well on the costs. It seems excessive to me.

OP posts:

That's huge. I don't know how much a hybrid car adds, but is part of it recouping the arrears?

EmeraldFox · 15/07/2023 12:22

£70 a month direct debit.

Blondey2023 · 15/07/2023 12:22

£360 a month 😳

Ginisatonic · 15/07/2023 12:25

Do you know how much in arrears you are ?

AuntieMarys · 15/07/2023 12:25

Our mid June to mid July bill was £93..actual readings

Ineedwinenow · 15/07/2023 12:25

Ours is £289 ( that’s obviously for both electric and gas)

IfItAintBrokeBreakIt · 15/07/2023 12:26

Our dd is £480 per month and we’re a few hundred pounds in credit.

Crazymadchickenlady · 15/07/2023 12:26

We get paid at the moment for ours but that’s just because the sun shone a lot last month. Last month we got paid £83. We did however put in solar panels last year and now get paid for our export. Before that it was about £260 a month.

SophiaElise · 15/07/2023 12:27

£125 per month but have lots of credit.

BillyNoM8s · 15/07/2023 12:28

Right now I think I'm paying 220 a month which should see us just about clear when billed in September/Oct, perhaps a small credit. This is for a 3 bed semi.

Then I bump it up for winter.

LDN7 · 15/07/2023 12:29

I have electricity only, live in a studio flat and this month it was almost £200! Seems so excessive!

We pay £175 dd and are £500 in credit. Never had to increase dds over winter

NoSunNoSun · 15/07/2023 12:30

£300 per month and we have an electric car.

mrsneate · 15/07/2023 12:33

That's very high OP'

Ours is currently £188 a month for both.

3 bed house. 2 teenage DS's

I work nights so house his empty 3 nights a week mostly as DP is away at sea.

I barely use the dryer these days. But tvs are always on!

We do have a load of solar panels so do get feed in tariff payments every 2/3 months

DisplayPurposesOnly · 15/07/2023 12:40

£165 pcm. Two bedroom house, one person working from home, heating on as required over winter.

isthesolution · 15/07/2023 12:43

£125 a month for electric. We will be in credit over the summer. We don't have gas.

anon199900 · 15/07/2023 12:50

Can you move onto an EV tarriff? The rates are much cheaper between Midnight and 5am, and you can set appliances to run then too.

CrabbiesGingerBeer · 15/07/2023 12:52

£15 gas and £60 electricity but that’s because they insisted on increasing my gas from £14 to £80 last year (I did speak to them and they insisted their figures were correct) and I came out of the winter £500 in credit.

So currently £65 down from £140 previously. I think the correct amount would have been £100-£110.

Two bed flat, just me, WFH 3-4 days a week, in office the other days.

Cornishclio · 15/07/2023 12:53

That's huge. We are with BG and pay £280 a month for a 4 bed detached. No electric vehicles. Are you in credit?

Cornishclio · 15/07/2023 12:53

Sorry I just saw you are in arrears. How much are they recouping monthly?

rainbug · 15/07/2023 12:54

DD is £120 a month for both gas and electric. 3 bed mid terrace house.

I'm a sahm so always someone in day and night

Babyiwantabump · 15/07/2023 12:57

£185per month for both . £188 credit at the moment

BlueRaincoat1 · 15/07/2023 12:59

£220 per month, 3 bed semi, 2 kids. It overpays in the summer and means no increase in the winter. We're several hundred in credit.

Moltenpink · 15/07/2023 13:02

Wow, that’s a lot. We pay £400, 5 bed no car but I consider us quite high users (lots of appliances, tumble drier always on the go etc)

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 15/07/2023 13:06

That seems very high, OP.

We pay just under £240 per month and we're nearly £500 in credit at the moment.

We also have a hybrid but it's a self charging one - do you have to plug yours in, and is that what's pushing up the bills?
