Is this the beige/light brown stuff that had zero absorbency?

frustratedashell · 22/01/2023 19:13

Flapjackquack, I think it was dull cream colour. Bit like greaseproof paper

6 double sized rolls £1.93.

Aldi Everyday Essentials Toilet Rolls

they're fine.

GiantKitten · 22/01/2023 21:32

32 Cushelle mail order bargain!
Dearer than Tesco used to be but still only £1.75 for 4, and you do know what quality you’re getting…

Try Lidl - their loo roll is much cheaper than other supermarkets and it's good quality too.

I agree. It's gone up in price too, but still better price and quality than i.e. Asda's own. Andrex is for rich people nowadays😂

organisedmother · 23/01/2023 16:42

Aria essentials TESCO £1.93 for 6 pack
400shests double length 2ply

works out 32p a roll.

Good save the trees and use a cloth that can be washed time and time again. Costco is still around £40 for 90 rolls so around 45p a roll of Cushelle which doesn't leave bits everywhere

Ok I read this wrong the first time.

Ontherainingday · 26/01/2023 00:38

Well had the same dilemma last week after visiting Tesco an there was only expensive toilet paper left. Before I was buying in lidl big pack for £6 something. Well I find good one on eBay freedom inspiration £16 for 45 rolls not Queen stamp on it but for family of 4 going through more than a tool per day just perfect with 3 layers. I'm happy with it it's ok we don't need any better and I think is better than Lidl one.

LuluBlakey1 · 26/01/2023 00:41

We never use kitchen roll but loo roll is extortionate and we get through rather a lot if it.

LuluBlakey1 · 26/01/2023 00:42

MyGPgood · 22/01/2023 19:10

One of these too!

The year I met DH one of his grandmas made me one of these at Christmas. 😁

Ontherainingday · 26/01/2023 00:57

As a kitchen roll blue painter roll is good you can buy in b&q it works cheaper.
We haven't reach the sh .. line yet I grow up I. Communistic country when we wiped the ar... With news paper or the lives so is not that bad yet 😂 be happy you have toilet paper at all that was luxury

Youdoyoubabe · 26/01/2023 00:57

Yep, I use it very sparingly these days.

Just noticed Brabantia bin liners have jumped up by over a pound.

For those with Brabantia bins, check out Aldi. Ok, the sacks are not the same thickness, but the price difference is really obvious. I’ve been using the Aldi ones for a couple of years and they are well worth the saving - I’ve had my bin for almost 20 years and I’ll never buy the “real” bags again.

RusticChips · 26/01/2023 10:45

I agree, I couldn't believe the price of kitchen roll.
Although, more expensive I have been buying Waitrose Essential toilet paper 16 for £7.80, it is really lovely and soft and the rolls are tightly rolled and last a lot longer than the cheaper ones, I prefer it to Costco as it is softer and lasts longer then Nikki ones which we seem to use up quick.
I might try the Amazon own kitchen roll.

User13805623 · 26/01/2023 10:55

I used to get it cheap on Amazon in 45 roll packs but they are no longer cheaper so I just wait until Tesco has Andrex gentle clean on Clubcard offer which is my favoured roll and get two 24 packs on my online shop

About a year or two ago I got severel packs of Brabantia 40 bin packs at £3 each, I'm glad I got a lot as they are £9 for 40 now on Amazon, even more expensive elsewhere fortunately I still have two packs left.

it's worth putting household stuff in the Amazon saved for later bag in case they go on offer but it is quick rare nowadays.

xogossipgirlxo · 26/01/2023 11:16

I gave up expensive kitchen roll ages ago and started buying cheapest lidl one, which is 50p per roll I think. It only is to clean up cat puke, we wipe kitchen tops with normal cloth that I put to washing. Couldn't justify the cost of Regina rolls etc., way too pricey.

After reading this I just checked my Brabantia bags on Amazon.
Last purchased 2 years ago, £3.49 for 20.
Now £17.49.
HOW???
I still have some left, and we use very few, so I’m wondering whether to buy some now or gamble that they’ll go down again!
(or just use any old cheap bags which fit…theirs are good strong bags though!)

GiantKitten · 26/01/2023 14:01

Simplehuman size E bags, also 20L but rectangular, are £4.95 for 20 on Amazon.
WTF is going on with Brabantia???

Theraffarian · 26/01/2023 14:01

Nikki loo rolls at home bargains now £5.99 for 18 , which is a big jump on what they used to be , but decent thickness etc . Did look at the new double size Asda own ones but most reviews say they don’t fit on loo roll holders so that’s handy 😒

user375242 · 06/02/2023 21:23

I get Who Gives a Crap 48 in a box that lasts for absolutely ages. I often worry it's an unnecessary luxury but when I priced it up it is on par with or better than a lot of these double rolls people are suggesting and the rolls are bigger. Here is a screenshot from their FAQ about price per sheet. It really does last for ages and it's so convenient getting it delivered.

I'll add my referral code for 20% discount on subscriptions if if anyone is interested www.talkable.com/x/a94vKI but it might be better to just use there £5 off offer on new customers. We are a family of 5 and one box of 48 lasts approximately 3 months.
