Yeah - I knew it was going to be high... 4 bedroom semi detached stone house.

£314 for gas and electricity. No doubt January will be similar - unless it warms up a bit?

Been putting on the heating from 16.30 til 20.00 most days - obviously more over past weekend...

I think exposed floor boards may be partially responsible but I am not keen on fitted carpets..

But I got my electricity bill today and was pleased to see it was only £59 (£2 higher than previous month).

Ours is off completely never night and does not get particularly cold as it has been on the evening before until 10.30pm and then goes on at 6.30am so has been on a bit when I get up about 7ish (although off today as so mild outside). Having it off completely all night is really fine and definitely never have ice inside windows in morning. (We do have fitted carpets throughout and lined curtains to the floors which I do close in my office when it is dark to keep it warmer)

Finally in. Not sure if happy as under £500. But that’s also an insane amount

was £413 for dec including those 2w cold weeks Kent had of -8 plus Xmas days cooking

so gas was £246 and used 2308 khw so 74kwh a day which is just under £8 a day. Ouch !!!

But last year we used 149 a day 🙀🙀🙀 so cost would have been double so £16 a day if hadn’t cut down lots and using half what we did

electricity was £167 and used 436 kWh so average a day was 14. Which is about normal for us so £5.40a day

Just had ours for Dec.
We are in an old Victorian semi with an ancient gas aga, so was worried. However, luckily on a fixed tariff until June, so paying same rates as last 2 years.
Have been careful and had 1 hr heating in morning and 5 hrs in evening, with it typically being set to 17/18 which is a degree or two cooler than last year. In the cold snap, we had it on many more hours to maintain temp. We were away for 6 days over Christmas. That was same last year too.

Anyway, combined bill is £140 and I can see last year it was £175, so I am pleased. For us, I can see the AGA is costing us about £2.25 per day, from when we were away and only had the heating coming on for an hour a day. I usual winter temps we are spending about an additional £1.50 per day on gas central heating and just over £1 on electricity.

I plan to continue with 1 hr heating in morning and about 5 hrs in evening whilst the temps are what they are currently….crucuailly set to about 17/18 as that makes a difference. We have some fleece blankets and OOdies, so are pretty cosy. If it gets colder, we will have the heating in more. As our fix ends in June, we are actually saving up the government £400 towards next year.

Just got Dec bills - 103 pounds for electricity and 130 for gas. 2 of us in a 3 bed detached . Gas heating is on less than previous years - about 60 mins in morning and about 90 mins in the evening. Use electric over blanket when watching TV.
