Oodie is life changing

If you don't want to heat, you need one in your life. I promise I don't work for the Oodie company. I feel like I never need to switch on the heating ever again!

And I used to be the kind of person who would have the heating switched on at all hours of the day.

I have this trespass one (last year is was in the sale for £25) it is sweatshirt material on the outside and incredibly thick and fluffy on the inside, I absolutely adore it!

Nah it's really not a burden wearing clothes every day 🤷🏻‍♀️ @mattyprice4004

I'm getting one for Christmas!! 🥰

Mylittlesandwich · 02/12/2022 11:21

Mine arrived the other day. I wear it to WFH. So freaking cosy and just in time for the temp to take a dive here. Get up in the morning, quick wash, stick on jeans and top. Then oodie over the top and slippers on. I'm as snug as a bug.

I don't have one, I don't have a dressing gown or slippers either. If I'm downstairs I'm dressed. Jeans, jumpers, boots. I've never felt comfortable mooching in clothes that I wouldn't leave the house in. The only time I have been in pyjamas in the day has been once when I had pneumonia very badly. DH and DCs are the same. None of us have any special indoor or lounge wear.

I'm like this.
get up, get dressed. I don't wear oodies, dressing gowns or pyjamas at all at home, unless I have had eg an early bath in the evening.

I just don't understand people wearing pjs all day.
Buy more comfortable clothes!

The only time I stay in pjs is if I am ill.

But we do have a wood burning stive and a huge woodpile from scavenged and stored wood (we don't buy any) so I can put the fire on. I have a lot of sympathy with those at home and cold at the moment

devildeepbluesea · 02/12/2022 11:31

I stick the heating on for an hour a day just to take the chill off. WFH I use layers, hot water bottle and scarf.
After work DD and I get into Kuddlys and stick on the heated throw. Lovely. I'm building up my energy credit for when the prices to up again…

Pickingmyselfup · 03/12/2022 10:24

I have ordered a couple of rainbow ones from Dunelm, I wasn't sold before thinking they would get in the way. My heating is on (less than it was though) but even in a thermal t shirt, fluffy jumpers, thick joggers, fluffy socks and slippers I'm still cold.

I don't care if they look ugly, I'm not going out in them and I have no qualms about answering the door in one or wearing one if I have people over. My house is all about comfort and warmth, it's not a fashion show.

Songbird0112 · 03/12/2022 13:18

I wfh without a rad in the room and it's been a game changer. It's like being wrapped in the cosiest, softest blanket. Almost comforting actually!

a particularly flammable garment

Like any other fleece garnement, jumpers, dressing gown and the like.

These seem to be a very cumbersome and unattractive clothing solution.

Anyone who skis knows that clothes do not have to be bulky and ugly to keep you warm, even when you are standing in snow, in the shade. My standard "winter coat" is a budget plain black ski jacket that is very thin, completely unpadded, but so warm I only wear a t-shirt underneath, when leaving the house in winter. Not that I would wear that indoors, my point is simply that people that think you need bulky or furry clothing to be warm have archaic ideas about clothing.

Surely thermal underwear with some cheap ski/tube socks would be a better solution? A soft and stretch skiing base layer, possibly with a polo neck that could be rolled up, might be a good alternative to a long-sleeve thermal vest.

Although my main objection to oodies is psychological, they look like the sort of clothing that would be worn by someone so fat their body needs to be craned out of a window when they die. It would depress me to dress like that on a daily basis.

i hate wearing separates lol and socks. I only wear t shirts and socks to exercise.

i like just wearing one thing. this can be a dress. or in this case a oodie. esp when at home. When i go out, i double up with a jumper and a coat and tights but thats it.

I agree about layers. However, these types of garments are not only super warm but are also about comfort and cosiness. The looseness is what makes it extra cosy.

Obviously the huge popularity of these right now is because people are struggling to afford their heating bills. The psychology for me is that being wrapped in a soft warm blanket is really comforting and makes you feel better in a less than ideal situation. It really is like a warm cuddle which a lot of people need right now.
