Oodie is life changing

If you don't want to heat, you need one in your life. I promise I don't work for the Oodie company. I feel like I never need to switch on the heating ever again!

And I used to be the kind of person who would have the heating switched on at all hours of the day.

Does it make you sweaty though? I hate artificial fibres that make you feel all clammy...but I love to be warm!

DazzlePaintedBattlePants · 28/11/2022 21:33

I have one and it’s a godsend for wfh. No point putting the heat on if it’s just me at home, and if DH and I are both at home it saves arguments over the heating as he runs hot and I run cold.

Both the kids have them too.

It’s too hot and bulky for doing anything in though, but perfect for sitting around.

Blowyourowntrumpet · 28/11/2022 21:34

I've got a kuddly and it's amazingly warm, but I haven't worn it yet this year as it's not been cold enough. I find the hood really annoying though.

Mylittlesandwich · 28/11/2022 20:25

🤣 how cheap is your heating

Not as expensive as buying my entire family Oodies.

TheFlis12345 · 28/11/2022 21:42

I regard them as being around the same level as crocs. I don’t care how comfy / warm they are, nothing could entice me to wear something that ugly.

pigonalipstick · 28/11/2022 21:44

I bought a heated blanket instead of an oodie, I'm in love!

This has me laugh. I love my Kuddly and my crocs but wouldn't go out of the house in them.

On the other hand, if you hadn't have bought the Oodie, you could afford to turn the heating on.

I can afford the heating even if it was £600 per month (and I live in a 2 bed flat ). I just don't want to contribute to demand for gas which means that Putin has more leverage over us.

I bought a fleece, hooded onesie. I'd never wear it outside, but I live in at home right now.

MithrilCostsMore · 28/11/2022 22:01

I've got an oodie. BEST. THING. EVER. My kids had cheap ones, I replaced with the real thing. The difference is incomparable.

TruestRepairman · 28/11/2022 22:02

Far too heavy and bulky for me. And your legs stick out (obvs) so if wfh or sitting on couch I still need a blanket or very warm trousers.

I wanted to like it, I did. I love warm clothing. But it wasn't nice to wear. I felt huge and cumbersome, like a big weeble.

TruestRepairman · 28/11/2022 22:04

Should add I have a cheapy as well from Amazon that zips up the front, which I bought before the real Oodie, and much prefer that, actually, as it's so much less restrictive. No hauling it over the head to get in and out. The quality's a bit crap, mind, seams coming apart already.

Cynderella · 28/11/2022 22:08

This year I didn't put on the heating until a couple of weeks ago. Most evenings, we put it on for an hour or so after dinner. Soon, I'll put it on in the mornings too. But I won't be having it on all day like I have in the past. My calculations suggest my Oodie will be paid for by what I've already saved. I've also invested in some wool layers, mostly second hand, and an electric blanket, but I still think they'll pay for themselves before Christmas.

I am using my dehumidifier on and off for a couple of hours at a time when washing is drying (no tumble drying yet this winter). I'm trying to make sure the house isn't cold and damp with judicious use of heating and tumble dryer.

Anyway, the Oodie. Yes, it's fully, but it is comfortable, and it's practical when on sofa in the evenings. Sometimes too warm. And I never thought I'd say that.

Choccyoclocky · 28/11/2022 22:10

I have a Sienna hoodie from OnlineHomeShop. It was £12 and I got it on clearpay. It is huge and so warm. They also sell children's.

saveforthat · 28/11/2022 22:11

I don't mind that they are really unstylish but why are the prints so childish. What adult wants unicorns or elephants on their clothes.

JCoverdale · 28/11/2022 22:14

MiniTheMinx · 28/11/2022 21:09

I don't have one, I don't have a dressing gown or slippers either. If I'm downstairs I'm dressed. Jeans, jumpers, boots. I've never felt comfortable mooching in clothes that I wouldn't leave the house in. The only time I have been in pyjamas in the day has been once when I had pneumonia very badly. DH and DCs are the same. None of us have any special indoor or lounge wear.

I agree with this. If I'm out of bed, I'm dressed and can walk in and out of the house getting on with stuff. I can't imagine wearing a giant ball of heavy fluffy polyester with a giant hood shuffling about while trying to get on with life. I don't ever sit and watch TV at night anyway. I've got some soft brushed trousers, sheepskin boots and army surplus men's socks, a very old but nice wool jumper with a patra sick vest underneath and I can do anything and go anywhere in those clothes. I total get wearing one of these things if you are ill though and wrapped up in blankets.

Don't your lower legs freeze ?

No, bus. Two pairs of socks and fleecy PJs.

Cynderella · 28/11/2022 22:28

*but

AriettyHomily · 28/11/2022 22:30

I've got one but it hasn't been cold enough to wear it yet.

I wear it over thermal leggings and on really cold days put jogging bottoms on over those. I then wear slipper socks, over thermal socks if my feet feel cold.

It’s let me turn the heating down 5 degrees from last Winter.

I use heated throws, I can't afford an Oodie anyway but don't the sleeves knock into everything? I stitch a lot and I think I'd keep catching the sleeves on my materials?

allboysherebutme · 28/11/2022 22:35

My husband brought me one they're lovely and warm. X

Usmbsr · 28/11/2022 22:38

I got the Slytherin patterned one as a gift and I'm a massive convert. I had bought knock off ones before but they weren't very warm and kept shedding. I wear it all the time, including while writing this!

Maybe. I've crocheted without a problem, but there is a lot of fabric there. The sleeves are cuffed though.

Heated throw is great, but I prefer the oodie for when I'm in and out of the sitting room rather than just sitting. And I WFH - I can usually manage with just my layers, but I have slipped on the Oodie a couple of times - I'd take it off for a Zoom call, but it's fine for audio calls and when typing.
