Oodie is life changing

If you don't want to heat, you need one in your life. I promise I don't work for the Oodie company. I feel like I never need to switch on the heating ever again!

And I used to be the kind of person who would have the heating switched on at all hours of the day.

Yes love mine. I often have to take it off as I’m too warm!

blackandwhitecat123 · 28/11/2022 22:49

They're brilliant. I got a couple each (cheap ones) for DS and me and my husband was very sniffy about them and said they're ridiculous and he couldn't bear to wear something like that. Then it got colder. He now has his own and wears it constantly, looking like a grumpy monk.

WhatsitWiggle · 28/11/2022 23:36

I bought a Primark fleece one this year and I live it. I wfh 3 days a week, last winter I had the heating on but I can't afford that this year (increase in bills, decrease in household income) so I wear it over my clothes when I'm not on any Teams calls. And when sat on the sofa of an evening. It's way warmer and more snuggly than my onesie or my dressing gown.

PurpleButterflyWings · 28/11/2022 23:40

I wouldn't be seen dead in one of these ugly monstrosities. Nice try though. Smile I think I'll just wear a long sleeve T-shirt jumper with a pair of jammy bottoms. I'd be too hot in one of these anyway.

00100001 · 28/11/2022 23:41

I wish I could have a Oodie or similar but I'm already get too hot in just my dressing gown and PJs 🥵

NeedAHoliday2021 · 28/11/2022 23:42

I have asked for one for Christmas but I’ll use it like a dressing gown and to take the dog in the garden in the morning. Won’t be wearing it in public.

I’m slightly happier to be caught in it by someone coming to the door in the afternoon than a dressing gown but I agree, I don’t wear it out of the house. Apart from anything else, my coat would never fit over it!

imayhavelostmymarbles · 28/11/2022 21:30

Does it make you sweaty though? I hate artificial fibres that make you feel all clammy...but I love to be warm!

I wonder this too - there's 'nice and cosy' warm and then there is 'polyester sweaty uncomortable' warm and I feel like oodies / kuddlies / etc would generate the latter. Would be delighted to be informed otherwise.

sanityisamyth · 29/11/2022 08:33

@refreshingseahorse I've never felt sweaty in mine. I fell asleep in it last night (under my winter duvet) and woke up at 2am too hot but not at all sweaty!

hay5689 · 29/11/2022 08:34

I don't understand all the comments about it being ugly. Surely if you have it on in your house it doesn't matter?

User57713 · 29/11/2022 08:43

I like mine for lying on the sofa in the evenings but I hate wearing it when I'm actually trying to do anything. It's heavy and bulky and the sleeves keep getting in the way.

BusySittingDown · 29/11/2022 08:46

Mylittlesandwich · 28/11/2022 20:26

I got myself one for Christmas. I do put the heating on from time to time so the house isn't damp but I work from home and I can't afford to have it on all day every day.

Same here @Mylittlesandwich . We have the heating on first thing in the morning and in the evening for a bit but working from home I'm cold in the day.

SquitMcJit · 29/11/2022 08:48

I like the idea of being so toasty but am really put off by people saying they are hard to wash and dry.

Don’t they smell terrible if people are wearing them all day every day and they can’t be washed easily (e.g after a week’s wearing like you’d do with a hoodie or something) I worry mine would smell sweaty very quickly.

BusySittingDown · 29/11/2022 08:49

I don't understand the comments about them being ugly and making people look obese either.

  1. They're for in the comfort of your own home, not for going out to dinner with the King.
  2. I've never met anyone who looks particularly amazing in pyjamas and dressing gown either. Surely this is just the same? 😂

I don’t find it hard to wash and dry. It takes up a lot of space in the washing machine due to sheer size but other than that, it dries normally (although it takes a bit longer). I turn it inside out and spread it over the top of the airer for maximum surface exposure and turn the dehumidifier on and it dries fine.

Also, I don’t wash it weekly - maybe every 2 or 3 weeks. It doesn’t seem to smell. I do wear it over other layers and I change and wash those the way I normally would. I assume that helps.

TheNoonBell · 29/11/2022 15:11

They are great, got 2 now, a thinner one and a super thick one for really chilly evenings.

The cat loves laps with the thick one.

I like being properly dressed, make up etc even if I'm at home and I think I'd feel really slobby and messy in a giant blanket thing.

Shitfather · 29/11/2022 16:58

Adore my Primark cheapo one. It’s ugly for sure but so snuggly, especially after a nice shower before bed. Keeps my head warm.
Yes it does get quite smelly quickly.

😂😅🤣

I have had a full oodie/duvet day watching Amazon prime as laid up with a bad knee.

And never wear makeup outside the house- literally a Big Slob 🥴😁😁

It would be boring if we’re all the same..

Agreed. My Kudd.ly is a game changer.

Never felt so cosy and sometimes a bit too warm. Not the most flattering but who cares when your toasty? Heating on low. Hoodie blanket on and all is good in the world.

Just ordered a second for when one's in the wash and one for a relative. I've become quite evangelical about them!

DH thinks they are hideous but we'll see in January/Feb when the temperatures plummet...

Mumsnetters always need to look pristine for all the people they don't answer the door to.

LindorDoubleChoc · 29/11/2022 20:09

I just did an experiment on how long it takes to take my Oodie off (in the event of someone knocking at the door). Including the precaution of taking my glasses off and then smoothing my hair down - 10 seconds! Such an effort!

GoddessofWar · 29/11/2022 20:11

CanYouFeelMyHeart · 28/11/2022 18:51

I honestly think they're the ugliest things I've ever seen and nothing could induce me to buy one!

They are. My DH and I repel each other when we wear them but we are so warm! Deeply unattractive but they really are so cosy. I’m a convert!

Blimey, it must be a real burden being dressed up to the 9s every day.
Think of all the money you’d save on make up and heating… 😁
