Oodie is life changing

If you don't want to heat, you need one in your life. I promise I don't work for the Oodie company. I feel like I never need to switch on the heating ever again!

And I used to be the kind of person who would have the heating switched on at all hours of the day.

On the other hand, if you hadn't have bought the Oodie, you could afford to turn the heating on.

🤣 how cheap is your heating

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 28/11/2022 20:25

I have one but find it so big and wide it’s a hazard. The cat loves it though.

I do worry about people using these and not heating their homes. Yes it makes you warm. But your house is cold and damp. Condensation dampness is in the air, the spores get into the respiratory system and cause illness.

the whole heat the person not the house is Reallu dangerous for health. If you can’t afford to put your heating on then yes, it’s a good thing to have, but if your home is becoming cold and damp then it’s a really bad situation for health. Because you still need to breathe in rhe cold damp air.

I got myself one for Christmas. I do put the heating on from time to time so the house isn't damp but I work from home and I can't afford to have it on all day every day.

dawnfromgavinandstacey · 28/11/2022 20:33

I have one from Wowcher and it's very warm. I do t need the heating on and a day whe it's just me if I wear it.

Mushroomlady · 28/11/2022 20:35

They are pretty amazing. I'm a very cold person. The other day I wore my oodie knock-off and genuinely didn't think about the cold all day, despite no heating and it was a very chilly outside. Usually I'd be shivering, making hot water bottles and trying to get more layers on.

Spinningaround18 · 28/11/2022 20:38

Oh my gosh I can’t stop telling everyone about how great they are haha had a cheap primark one for a few weeks before getting one of the £13 oodies and they’re in a different league for warmth! Don’t care what I look like when I’m this toasty on the sofa lol

Fridaynightmare · 28/11/2022 20:44

Yep resisted all last year thinking they looked terrible but decided to get one in the summer months when they were reduced. I currently have to work from home while our office is closed and wow it's amazing.

Warms me right up, not great for washing up in as I tend to get it wet but other than that it's absolutely fantastic.

My ds did say the other day when I went to open the door that he knew it was me as it was a big green blob through the textured glass which isn't the nicest thing I've ever been called but it's not going anywhere.

fruitpastille · 28/11/2022 20:47

I wouldn't pay oodie prices but I must admit I love my Aldi knock off. It's very warm but not quite as padded as the real thing. I only wear mine in the evenings over my pjs or occasionally over clothes if I'm not doing much. I find it more comforting than my dressing gown and I prefer the look of it. Only £19.99 too! Up till I got one I thought they were a bit of a silly gimmick but I am converted.

Summerfun54321 · 28/11/2022 20:57

What are they made from? They look like a massive ball of microplastics.

Salome61 · 28/11/2022 20:59

I'm glad to read you like it, I bought one for my son and his girlfriend when they were on offer, they can't afford to have the heating on much.

Whichwhatnow · 28/11/2022 21:05

Dh just bought us one each (it was a 2 for 1 sale). I wfh in a freezing flat and am usually cold regardless of what I'm wearing. Today I have actually been sweating haha!

I already had a couple of knock offs but real Oodies are something different!

I'm slightly (well, very tbh...) ashamed to admit that we both wore our matching Oodies to Tesco on Saturday night because we couldn't bear to take them off and face the cold 😬

IScreamAtMichaelangelos · 28/11/2022 21:07

They're ugly, but insanely warm. DH mocked mine but I got him one and he has lived in it for the past 2 winters. Seriously, it has saved us money.

MiniTheMinx · 28/11/2022 21:09

I don't have one, I don't have a dressing gown or slippers either. If I'm downstairs I'm dressed. Jeans, jumpers, boots. I've never felt comfortable mooching in clothes that I wouldn't leave the house in. The only time I have been in pyjamas in the day has been once when I had pneumonia very badly. DH and DCs are the same. None of us have any special indoor or lounge wear.

Cheerfulcharlie · 28/11/2022 21:12

i always said I would never wear one of those ugly monstrosities… but now I have one and they are just so warm and snug, I really don’t care what I look like. I wouldn’t go out or even answer the door in it though!

Charlieandlola · 28/11/2022 21:16

I love mine ! I look an absolute fright in mine but wear it after a shower each evening so I don’t need the heating on after 7pm. I have a genuin oodie and my kids have Kuddlys

WakingUpDistress · 28/11/2022 21:17

I agree.
They dint look nice but they are WARM

sanityisamyth · 28/11/2022 21:17

I love mine! I bought DS(8) and me one last year and have worn them a lot! Much cheaper than trying to run my electric heaters. So warm and comfortable.

sunflowerstreet · 28/11/2022 21:18

FAB-U-LOUS how did I live before mine?! I actually found myself too hot the other night while wearing it! I've bought them for the whole family to save on heating!

Manasprey · 28/11/2022 21:19

Got a fake one, but it doesn't keep my hands or nose warm, so the heating stays on.

WakingUpDistress · 28/11/2022 21:19

I don’t think the copies (Aldi, primary etc etc) are anywhere as good too.
The copycat are basically a fleece with the ‘right’ box shape.

The oodie or kuddly are much thicker and much warmer.

thenightsky · 28/11/2022 21:21

Manasprey · 28/11/2022 21:19

Got a fake one, but it doesn't keep my hands or nose warm, so the heating stays on.

Combine it with one of the wheat bag microwavable thingies that you can warm your hands on or bury your nose into.

olivehater · 28/11/2022 21:21

Just ordered all of mine and myself matching faire isle ones from Snuggz in Black Friday sales. Alternative to matching pjs this year. It’s U.K. based and the patterns are nicer and they feel really quality compared to the cheap Amazon types.

LachrymoseLeeches · 28/11/2022 21:23

I've got a fake one. It is warmer than a dressing gown, probably because it doesn't open at the front. It's ugly but I only wear it around the house so who cares?

I have the heating on when the children are home but not when I am wfh by myself all day.

MrsDoyle351 · 28/11/2022 21:24

Notanotherone6 · 28/11/2022 20:00

Ummm no - I don’t pay £200 every month for an oodie.

I agree OP - fantastic things - love mine ♥️💕❤️

shinynewapple22 · 28/11/2022 21:27

I am considering putting one on my list to Santa (DH). Can't decide if I want a splurge on the more expensive make , a cheap copy or more of a normal size teddy/Sherpa fleece hoodie.

I take the point made by PP about not having heating on making the house damp - but there's a difference between running it all day and having it on for an hour first thing and again in the evening and wearing cosy clothing in between .
