And do you have the heating on?

I thought it was a bit chilly this morning/last night but moving around today it was ok (hoovering etc)
We are sitting on the couch tonight with blankets, and ds just commented it seems to be warmer to night than last night. Checked the thermostat and we are sitting at 15.5 degrees. But we are ok tbh.

How warm is your house tonight?

(No heating yet and I think we are doing ok feeling cold wise iyswim? None of the kids have complained yet! Although we have a box of blankets by the couch. Have put up an extra set of double lines curtains on the main "cold" windows, put in extra foam on windows that were a bit leaky and tend to go to bed earlyish)

11C here. Far too cold

Cotswoldmama · 17/11/2022 17:01

Our living room is usually around 15.5. we've got an old boiler /heating and so heating is either off or on there's no thermostat. I put it on for a bit last sunday to dry some clothes and we ended up using £11 in gas and electric that day! We luckily have a log burner when I light that our living room can get up to a toasty 24!

LadyDanburysCane · 17/11/2022 17:05

Thermostat is set to 17 degrees for this time of day. I had to take my jumper off half an hour ago as I was cleaning and got a bit warm, temperature in house is currently 17.5 degrees so heating hasn’t clicked on. I will probably need to put my jumper back on if I stay sitting here for much longer. DH just came down from his office in a T-shirt but carrying a jumper for later. DS is in his room and says he’s warm enough but he never seems to be cold….

AlmostAJillSandwich · 17/11/2022 17:37

No thermostat, no heating. According to the tesco £1 thermometer, between 15 and 16 degrees. Hoping for a mild winter.

NewBootsAndRanty · 17/11/2022 18:10

Working up to 18 from 14 at the moment..

Pootle40 · 17/11/2022 18:13

19.3c

Timer only on 630am-8am and 4-8pm. We've used 2hrs 15 mins of heating so far in those two windows. House dropped to 17.5 in the afternoon and was 16.5c on waking.

gogohmm · 17/11/2022 18:16

22, heating is off ... climate change or my neighbours (terraced) have both whacked up their heating... I've opened the balcony door in November

PiggyInTheLidl · 17/11/2022 18:42

18’

I turned the heating on at about 5pm.

XenoBitch · 17/11/2022 19:58

I have an Oodie on so am fine. My poor dog is shivering. Have buried her under blankets.

Zanatdy · 17/11/2022 20:44

My house would be freezing at 15. It was 18.2 when I got home from work which is fairly low I think! The heating comes on twice a day generally, I’ve got hive so set it for certain temps at certain times of day. Always off between 8pm and 5am. My bill has doubled, but I’ve got £400 credit at the minute and also the £66 a month from government so hopefully be ok. I’ve definitely adjusted it so it’s in less than it was last year

NightOwl101 · 17/11/2022 20:46

I put my heating on for the first time tonight because it got to 19 and it felt cold for the first time but I had it on for two hours and I'm lucky the heat has always seemed to stay in really well which is brutal in the summer when I have to get he AC unit out

Shlo · 17/11/2022 21:08
  1. I’ve had the fire going in the living room all day

@Matchingcollarandcuffs That’s exactly what happened to me. Huge doses of steroids for years which caused osteoporosis in my hips, pelvis and lower spine. Interestingly- only found on scans after my ex dislocated three discs in the thoracic lumbar spine. (Bastard). I have ME and fibromyalgia too. Moving to keep warm is tricky. Hence needing a wheelchair or crutches on my better days.

What caught my eye on the news today pensioners are to receive an extra £300. cost of living allowance while PIP/DLA claimants only get £150. Some pensioner are far more sprightly and physically well than I am, yet are given a bigger allowance. It doesn’t seem fair. Yet another kick in the teeth.

I agree with you. DH and I are both retired. We are not rich by any means, still have a mortgage and have to be careful with money, but I made the same point to him today, i.e “it is not right that we get £300 (although we need it), when disabled people only get £150”. Your situation is much worse than ours and I’m horrified at the circumstances of people who need to use electricity to recharge wheel chairs, for home ventilators, hoists etc. Aside from the extra electricity desperately needed to power equipment, it’s so important for those who cannot move much/at all and/or have lung disease to be able to keep warm. This country has become a shameful mess after 12-years of Tory rule. It makes me genuinely angry, not for me, but for so struggling much more than me. 💐

If your wood burner is an approved model, fitted correctly and you burn dry seasoned wood then there’s very little air pollution inside the house 🙄 or out.
Scare-mongering and completely unnecessary.

Yup and why they have come back with no evidence of the silly statement. Prob still googling their arse off

TheFeistyFeminist · 18/11/2022 09:30

Radiator not on in spare room overnight, working in here this morning. Ignoring thermostat, the temp gauge in here said 13.8 when I started, and is slowly climbing. I have a microwaveable heat pad on my lap and a blanket over my legs. Don't yet feel need for jumper but I'm sure I will as the day goes on.

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 18/11/2022 09:54

16.5°c.
Heating will be going on when kids get home for an hour or so.

Lampedsomeoiks · 18/11/2022 10:09

14 degrees this morning.

The neighbour leaves their windows open all day and night. I really hope this isn't affecting us.

PiggyInTheLidl · 18/11/2022 10:11

16.5

Having a half hour heating boost which will set me up for the day, then heating back on about 6pm to 8.30 pm.

It feels too warm above 18’.

Orangesandlemons77 · 18/11/2022 17:01

15.5 here, no heating. Probably have a fire later. It seems Ok as long as move around a bit.

Shudacudawuda · 18/11/2022 17:27

15.8 degrees. House has been empty all day and not had heating on. I'm going to treat us to an hour of heating to get us through the evening.

NewBootsAndRanty · 18/11/2022 18:07

Managed to leave the heating on for 12 hours by mistake >.<
It cost £4, which is less than I would've thought.
My flat is proper toasty now though..

RandomUsernameHere · 18/11/2022 18:09

No idea! Heating comes on morning and evening. It's gets a bit chilly during the day but it's usually just me in the house as I wfh, so I just wrap up in layers.

Zrt · 18/11/2022 18:48

13C right now

Merryweather80 · 18/11/2022 20:42

My bedroom is 13 at the moment ❄️⛄🥶

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 19/11/2022 07:01

11.8 in bedroom. Might put the heating on this weekend.
