I must have been in a daze, didn’t realise t’other thread was finished.

Grocery delivery yesterday, £80-ish
Another £50-ish today ordering more bits for DDs. Must stop ✋

Unescorted · 09/11/2022 06:47

Ta Life .... It is as well you started the thread. I would have been less restrained.

Can anyone tell me where my reading bins are? I misplaced them and my arms are not long enough to see.

needastrongoneagain · 09/11/2022 07:29

Great thread title life.

Place marking.

£5 batteries yesterday for the remote key fobs for Dh's car.

Having a quick run later with a mate.

Bornlazy · 09/11/2022 10:30

Thanks for new thread life

I'm not going to even list my spends as they are out of control. Safe to say the Christmas shopping is well underway.

It's cold in our house right now. I've set a timer on the heating to go on and off throughout the day but DH works from home a lot and I only work part time so we are both home most days. I don't know if I can hack it. I'm also worried our house is going to get damp as we constantly have washing on an airer. I think I'd rather sacrifice other things like a holiday than live in a cold damp house 🙈

Happierwithouthim · 09/11/2022 11:09

Life great title I would've like the impolite one also Grin
north you just gave me the kick I needed to start using spin dryer more, bf put up line in my shed a few weeks ago and I'm drying on that and finishing in dryer just to take cold out of them, my hot press isn't so hot because the tank is clad, plus I think things would never go to the rightful homes if they went in there, this morning though I didn't have time for spindryer so stuff went straight onto clothesline from washing machine.

em good work on the returns. I admired charlotte tilsbury lipsticks in brown thomas recently, no pricing on packaging though so I didn't purchase.

I was a little dubious about Christmas until I got my payslip yesterday and remember I'm saving in my Christmas club there and that'll amount to €1500 Grin

My baby is 9 today Cake cake was had at dparents on Sunday because he'll have cake at his dads this evening and two cakes is a bit much for any child in one day.

born I agree daily comfort is most important

Socathe · 09/11/2022 12:11

NSD yesterday.

Today need to buy floor cleaner (Ddog appears to have a stomach bug, I won't go into any more detail 🤦🏻‍♀️) and as I'm going to Wilko I may browse their toys for a little Christmas present for my friend's 1yo as she's one of the last I need to buy for. So will be a few little spends today. Not too much, we're a week from payday and aiming for a very low spend week.

AdoraBell · 09/11/2022 12:33

£4.50- ish coffee and pastry after gym. DH’s present arrived today, sweater from BrandAlley, 76% discount 😁. That’s it. Final. I. Do. Not. Need. To. Buy. Anything. More.

Born yes, holiday is less important than comfortable and without mould home.

Socathe I use disinfectant in a spray bottle when my 🐕 has a tummy problem. Hope your pooch recovers quickly.

1,500 Christmas club, we’ll done Happier 👍

need hope you and mate enjoy your run.

Socathe · 09/11/2022 13:11

Thanks @AdoraBell thankfully we have mostly hard floors downstairs so easily cleaned!

£2 on Flash disinfectant floor cleaner
£9 on a Christmas present for my friend's 1yo (Toot toot car, she's getting a toot toot track for Christmas).

No more spends today! Getting there with the Christmas shopping, not too much more to spend.

Happierwithouthim · 09/11/2022 16:21

Socathe wow one last thing to buy, I haven't one little thing bought!

Today is ds's birthday and he didn't know what he wanted so he's got a nintendo voucher until he thinks of a present.
Dd has said she'd like to go to a concert with me from her confirmation money next year so I might see if there's something the three of us could go to

northender · 09/11/2022 16:31

Thanks for new thread life
Xmas prep usually starts in earnest after dd's birthday on the 24th but I'm trying to be much better organised this year before I go back to work.
happier I love the spin dryer, yesterday's 2 loads yielded nearly 2 litres of water.
£18 top up shop today. £15 lunch with friends yesterday, book group tonight

lifelongfrugaleer · 09/11/2022 16:47

I hung some washing out today and finishing it off on the rads

happy birthday happier ds

I’m half organized for Christmas but need to write lists

Bornlazy · 09/11/2022 19:09

I should say I do appreciate that I am lucky that that's my choices and I know that for some people it's choosing to eat or heat their house.

Unescorted · 09/11/2022 19:18

Adora I am impressed. I am yet to get the Christmas vibe this year. I keep looking at the frozen poultry section at Tesco and wondering if I should get a duck or 2.
Presents will be by the power of Amazon/ local shops. I went into town on Tuesday for the first time in ages. The plan was to shop for a bit and have dinner... We lasted about 15 minutes.

Unescorted · 09/11/2022 19:23

Born if you are at home for long periods of time would be grim for it to be damp and cold. We are choosing heating over holiday.

My heart goes out to those who have harder choices.

Laska2Meryls · 09/11/2022 19:35

Hi, checking in, I fell off the last thread.
All good here... I have been swimming in the sea again today !!

AdoraBell · 09/11/2022 20:42

Envy Enjoy the sea Laska

unescorted I had enough of overspending in December last year. I wanted to donate to a homeless charity, think was St Mungos, and couldn’t afford to. I was surprised at how pissed off I felt.

I decided to start very early in the year so I only need to buy fresh food in December and can make a donation.

Hope DS has enjoyed his birthday Happier

Timetoswitch · 09/11/2022 21:56

I have to admit too that I’d hoped scrimping on heating etc would be possible to allow some of the more “luxury” spends to take place. But it’s cold and washing is taking ages to dry in the cold, and it’s really not that cold yet 🙁

I spent £9.37 on a mug/toy offer for the DC stockings. One will have the mug, the other the toy.

I need to find my Christmas shopping enthusiasm.

Timetoswitch · 09/11/2022 21:58

I’m a little bit excited that I might be able to get some washing out to dry tomorrow 😂

lifelongfrugaleer · 10/11/2022 07:17

I’ve got the washing on as it looks like a nice day, Tis very exciting in November

i would choose heat as well. You can look at holiday alternatives near the time if budget allows

i would get the duck as the birds are back indoors from more avian flu cases. Get them while you can in case of culling

£15 in Aldi yesterday, Sainsbury’s c&c due today bad planning means running out, rest of Aldi shop tonight

starbright92 · 10/11/2022 07:32

Been watching (and enjoying!) these threads for the last few months. Especially the frugal list of things to do in Autumn and at Christmas. Finally popping in to say hi! Today should be a very cheap day, hopefully just £2 to get into a toddler group. This includes a hot drink, large slice of cake and snacks for the little one, so not bad.

Must check the weather forecast and see if I should stick the laundry out. Currently rewashing it after I forgot and left it in the machine overnight...

TheClitterati · 10/11/2022 08:03

Ooh thanks for idea to do a wash while the sun is out.

I WFH but haven't had to put heating on during the day yet. It's been relatively warm and I got a vintage Norwegian large cardigan I wear to work in. It's super super warm.

I usually don't start Xmas shopping until after dd1's birthday mid November. But I use YNAB and put a bit aside all year. I can also keep track of what I spend re each child snd on Xmas overall which is super useful.

Now let's get that washing on.

Socathe · 10/11/2022 08:11

Happier believe me I'm not usually this organised, I'm not sure what's come over me this year, I think I feel like with the cost of living stuff I just want to get all the spending over and done with earlyish so that I'm not stressing about spending loads in December! Don't worry I'll still be leaving the wrapping till late Christmas Eve haha.

£65 on Aldi click and collect which I'm picking up today, will have another £10 or so to spend in Morrisons on things I couldn't get in Aldi. I've put our food budget up to £90 from £80 as we seem to be struggling to stick under £80 with the price rises.

Other than that should be a NSD. Ds has his swimming lesson this morning which we pay a monthly amount for so already paid. Then we're going to come home and play, watch films and maybe do some baking. A chill day after a few days of work/nursery. DH is getting lunch at work but will come off his pre loaded card so again already paid for.

Happy Thursday everyone.
