Bad luck with the smelly man, em. Libraries are often the refuge of the eccentric and the, ahem, underwashed. My parents have just joined the library in their new neighbourhood, and are very pleased with it - luckily, it is right next door to them. I am sure my father will be using it as an escape from my mother!

Ddog is now eating and drinking, so we've been able to get meds into him. Still hasn't peed, although he's tried cocking a leg in the garden. Running through his repertoire of pitiful noises. But better than this morning, thanks!

needastrongoneagain · 16/11/2022 17:04

Pleased about Ddog Skies. I don't like it when they are mopey. Ddog1 will eat any form of pill straight down, Ddog2 can sniff out and reject any medication whatever you do, it's a nightmare! We have a healthcare package for them too.

Spends about £7 today, rented a movie for DH and coffees at the hospital.

I'm home and in my pyjamas already!

kessiebird · 16/11/2022 18:00

4 replacement tyres and headlights for £120
Aldi click and collect £73
£20 fuel

Sorry will catch up properly but pleased DDog is on the mend. Love libraries, shame about the smelly man.

CurlsandCurves · 16/11/2022 18:27

Hi sorry I’ve not been around for a while.

it was my friends funeral today. Last night my other friend travelled up to stay with us. We had such a lovely evening reminiscing and going through old photos. Barely slept last night. And today was very sad as we said our final goodbyes to her.

I'm absolutely exhausted. Will catch up properly in the next day or so if I can xx

WeightoftheWorld · 16/11/2022 20:27

Am partially in PJs here too. DD is now also ill and to top things off someone's just crashed into car which was parked outside. It doesn't rain, it pours and all that...

Curls so sad, I'm so sorry.

Mrs about your accident, urinary incontinence is very common in women but it can be treatable. If it was completely a one off then I'd just ignore it but if it happens again or you have any other issues please do see your GP.

TheNewlmprovedMrsMadEvans · 16/11/2022 21:32

Weight thank you for the advice Flowers much appreciated , l am hoping it was a one off fingers crossed Smile
Hope your Dd is better very soon . I am so sorry re the car l hope they didn't just drive off Flowers

northender · 17/11/2022 08:50

Definitely a frugal conversation, but for anyone with any leaking or urinary incontinence, if you're on twitter you need to follow the most fantastic women's health physio, stand up comedian and mumsnetter Elaine Miller aka GussieGrips. She is a bit mad & irreverent but hugely inspiring in her quest to get women more acquainted with their bits & currently doing her annual DryByChristmas campaign.

Decafflatteplease · 17/11/2022 09:07

Thanks @northender . I did have urinary and bowel urgency and incontinence before the op but since Ive had the mass removed it's got alot better. I don't think that's a coincidence. The surgeon literally said it was absolutely massive and had almost doubled in size since my last scan so was probably pushing on all sorts in there!

Decafflatteplease · 17/11/2022 09:11

On a more frugal note I've just seen Lidl are doing gift vouchers now.

Happierwithouthim · 17/11/2022 09:35

Mrsmadevans that occassionally happens me too,(especially wearing jeans with a belt and I don't get it opened in time) and now I'm on a new medication and was up countless times last night to the loo, hopefully it'll settle.

Frugal fail, looked at the Hellofresh options last week and inadvertently ordered at full price €46.99 for 3 dinners for two Shock

Got Dunnes delivery for first time yesterday €50.05, handy because the €10 off €50 is automatically applied, I don't shop there regularly anymore so wouldn't have vouchers all the time. Annoyingly they rang me 1.5 hours before they were due to come and I'd to cut my walk short, I guess if I wasn't around they'd have had to deliver it at the appropriate time but I've always feel like they need to get home too. I booked 8-10pm for cheaper price and because I'm usually not home until 8 on Wed. Everything was perfect. I bought miwadi at €2.59 per bottle and now Lidl have it 3 for €5 on their app so I will stock up with that offer, dc only drink miwadi Hmm

Finally got roster from their dad this week for Nov, halfway through it so have offered to take ds and two friends to a trampoline park about 1.5hours away on Saturday. It will be €10 per child.

€50 to morning childminder this morning and €30 tomorrow to evening childminder.

Our work christmas party, like we used to have pre Covid, has gotten the green light Grin

Happierwithouthim · 17/11/2022 09:40

Curls emotional tiredness is extremely draining
weight how awful about your car

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/11/2022 17:43

Wtf is going on with all the old threads coming back

spend few days Xmas shopping

OP posts:
BigSkies2022 · 17/11/2022 17:56

£69 in Aldi today, of which about £7 was Christmas war chest. Two big packs of minced pork for the freezer, a whole ready-roast chicken for quick meals over the next few days (£4.99! best not ask how they get it so cheap...). Bought more tins, more rice and pasta, more cheeses, pears, plums and tomatoes all for baking/roasting. So should have plenty to keep us going for a while. Lots of cleaning today, and washing.

Ddog is OK, but it's impossible to keep a dog's undercarriage clean, especially in this wet weather, so keeping a close eye (and nose) on him.

Haven't got a grip on today's autumn statement - will get updated over the next couple of days.

Decafflatteplease · 17/11/2022 18:11

The old thread suggestions are so rubbish!

Freezer rummage for dinner this evening very frugal, trying to use up stuff in the freezer more.

I'm hoping with the new budget we will get the £900 plus £150 which would be amazing as a buffer and might mean we finally get out of the overdraft. Need to wait until it's confirmed though! Good timing as our energy fix ends in Jan and our mortgage fix over the summer. I've heard people are calculating what their mortgage will be but how do I work out what interest rate to put in the online calculator?

needastrongoneagain · 17/11/2022 19:03

Curls. How are you feeling now? Grief is exhausting. I feel like I'm going through a grieving process even though DH is still here. I'm grieving for the life I thought we'd share together as we got to a stage where we can ease back and enjoy, I'm grieving for him, I'm grieving for the impact on our children. Grief is exhausting. Be kind to you. Xx

Mrs, PJ's are the way forward for the winter months, whatever the reason! But echo advice given wisely.

weight please don't tell me they drove off? That's shit!

Skies hooray for an eating Ddog! They are filthy beasts aren't they?!

Fingers crossed decaff re the budget.

Upon Martin Lewis advice, I opened a Chase account today. It literally took 5 minutes (it's all done via an app) and my Chase card is now my main Apple Pay card. There's 1% cash back for the first year on all spending transactions. I'm just going to transfer the spending money from our usual account, pick up cash back with Santander for having my direct debits go out of their account and spend with Chase. So todays £30 on fuel at least gets 1% back. I think it will add up well for something super easy to do. Obviously it's not an account to use an overdraft with etc, but useful.

ememem84 · 17/11/2022 19:36

@BigSkies2022 I’m so pleased ddog is eating!!!

I had my exam today. Eeeep.

Timetoswitch · 17/11/2022 21:35

hope you are ok curls

Big hug need

It’s been a very long week.

I really like my chase account too need. I only move the money into the current account when I’m about to spend it, and leave it in linked the savings account for the few pennies of interest. So easy to move money between the accounts. I also like the rounding up function, so the current account only ever has full £s in it 🤣

BigSkies2022 · 17/11/2022 22:11

Not sure if this will work, but this is Ddog, in his prophylactic onesie (he keeps getting his cone off, and hiding it - the onesie is supposed to stop him worrying at his wound).

Just realised that £11 of my Aldi bill was Xmas provisions, so better than I thought! Heating crept on a bit today - getting colder and wetter.

Muji gel pens and some Japanese bath salts in the Amazon Christmas shopping basket.

Frugal the flip to make the festivities fun
WeightoftheWorld · 17/11/2022 22:25

Sorry I wasn't clear about the car - they didn't drive off thankfully. Well, actually it seems like they were going to, but two passerbys witnessed it and basically accosted the driver. One of them came and knocked at ours to tell us and another literally waited with the driver round the corner noting down the drivers reg etc! The first thing the driver said to DH when he approached her was "I'm not drunk"...! Anyway sorted through insurers thank God. They've taken the car this afternoon and dropping courtesy car tomorrow. Someone was meant to call us today about the kids car seats too but didn't so we need to call insurers tomorrow again to chase. As really we shouldn't use the car seats right, as they were in an accident even though kids weren't in them? Just such a hassle all of this on top of everything else. Anyway our insurer thankfully said it won't affect our no claims and they've waived the excess too given the circumstances. Our excess is £400 too which I didn't actually realise so thank God for that too.

NSD today, stuck at home with poorly kids. Both recovering well though now.

Aww DDog is lovely 😍

need I can't find the bracket for flowers emoji on my phone. Take care of yourself as much as you can ❣️

BigSkies2022 · 17/11/2022 22:33

Gosh, weight, that's seriously bad driving! What a bugger, on top of it all. Sounds like you have good insurance though, to take the car away so quickly and be so helpful on courtesy car, waiving excess, etc. A moped went into the back of me over a month ago and (granted, the car is perfectly drivable and the damage minimal) the garage won't be taking it until Monday.

kessiebird · 17/11/2022 22:52

Weight sorry to hear about the car and DD being ill. Sh*tty thing to happen..

Mrs that's happened to me recently when out running, totally unexpected. Not happened again but I'm careful what I'm drinking (more water and herbal tea, less diet coke!). The tyres and headlight were a bargain, DH knows a little place that does remould tyres and then his mechanic sorted the bulb, I'd priced at Halfords. Next stop new heater motor - two second hand cars always need something!

Need that all sounds so hard, grieving and caring.
Curls sorry to hear about your friend.

Love the DDog photo bigskies

Good luck with the budget decaffe

Chase account sounds worth a research!

I too need to absorb the info on the budget.

Hard day at work, politics 🙄 tried to remind self within 24 hours I'd be fine but I was really annoyed / hurt by the whole team. Managed to contain it, not react and had a productive day anyway. Grrr. Half heartedly looking for a new job again..

Spends
£35 fuel (in budget)
£29 Amazon Christmas (in budget)
£25.50 Boots aftershave for DS half price (in budget)
11.99 passport approved photos for DS

Took my lunch into work, normally treat in town on a Thursday but the weather was so bad, stayed in the office. Saved a bit of cash there.

Nearly Friday! 😊

kessiebird · 17/11/2022 22:58

Crossed posts. That's at least good news about the insurance weight.
