£1925 per year

If you are covered by the njc pay award (local authority, school support staff etc) you will get £1925 per year pay rise, backdated to April 2022. It's flat rate for everyone (although obviously pro rata for part time). I'm in a school and we will get ours in November pay. It's going to be a massive help.

@Solow19 it's a permanent pay rise.
Back dated to April 2022. So when it makes its way into pay packets - some people are saying it might make November pay, but I'm doubtful ours will given the overtime deadline was Friday - you will get a lump of around half of it, then 1/12 every month going forward.
Mine looks like about 1600 given TT working and hours.

BooksAreSaferThanPeople · 05/11/2022 08:39

I'm Local Authority and will get this pay rise, confirmed by my employer yesterday. It will be backdated and we will receive it in November's pay packet at the end of the month.

Works out at about 8% for me.

Lovely for me and all my colleagues.

BUT .. I voted to reject the pay offer and am disappointed that it has been accepted.

Not because I want more money. But because this pay rise is not funded by central government. There's no extra money coming to pay for this.

We all know what that means right? All of us getting this award are working for services that have already been cut to the bone and now more cuts are coming.

PupInAPram · 05/11/2022 08:49

I'm so sorry for all those whose LA / academy don't follow NJC t&cs. I didn't realise quite how lucky I am. For those getting it in November, you will get 8/12 months, so two thirds of £1925, prorated if you are part time.

Hippywannabe · 07/11/2022 22:03

I am still trying to find out if our academy chain will do it. Apparently they follow 'the green book'. I have no idea if that is related to njc!
I did find, while googling, that they were previously following njc guidelines so I do have fingers crossed.
No-one wants to be the person to ask HR though!

ChristmasCakeAndStilton · 07/11/2022 22:28

I believe the green book uses NJC pay scales as part of their conditions

That would be great. Thanks.

MyCatsSlave · 08/11/2022 15:55

My council have said even though they follow the NJC pay rises they won’t pay to staff who have left even if they request it

Is that even legal? They are withholding pay!

@PupInAPram It doesn’t seem right. I’ve attached their reply. I’ve challenged it saying that the guidance to employers is clear, it’s to be paid if requested.

I would raise with the union even if you aren't/weren't a member. This will affect many others so they would be interested to know if this isn't being paid.

Turmerictolly · 08/11/2022 17:48

In London so £2,229 for us. Backdated to April and paid in December- a nice surprise. About 5% for me 3.4% for dh. As it was unexpected we're going to pay a bit of it off the mortgage and book a U.K. weekend away. Glad to hear about the extra days leave too.

Hippywannabe · 08/11/2022 22:36

I asked a lovely approachable member of SLT today who knew nothing about the award.
I can't get onto the pay system to find out anything as suddenly passwords aren't working!

Nadal · 10/11/2022 18:31

Our LA has formally announced this will be paid in November with arrears and overtime back pay in December.

Hippywannabe · 10/11/2022 21:21

We are getting it. Yippee

Lougle · 10/11/2022 21:39

DH will lose 55% to UC, but grateful for the uplift.

Runnerduck34 · 10/11/2022 23:11

I'm ridiculously pleased about it. It works out about 7% increase for me.
Which I realise is currently below rate of inflation!
However after 10 years of working for a LA it still is probably one of the best (of not many) pay increases I've had.
Which is a bit sad really as its still below rate of inflation!
Will appreciate an extra day's leave from next year too.

I voted to reject the pay offer so am very disappointed it has been accepted. Once the £1925 has been pro-rata'd for part-time hours and term time only it's not a big pay rise at all.

Well of course it's not a lot if you only work part time in term time. What did you expect? No pay rise is going to feel substantial if you are working a fraction of the full time amount

Mochawithcream · 12/11/2022 19:29

Any leavers had any luck with backpay from Lancashire CC? Not heard back yet.

LibbyL92 · 14/11/2022 10:42

Guys can I just check it is deffo a back pay from April?? And not just September?

NCHammer2022 · 14/11/2022 10:51

Yes the Local Government pay deal is with effect from 1 April 2022. The Teachers’ pay deal is completely separate and with effect from September 2022.

Fantastic!

and this will be paid this month? Or next months pay?

sorry for the questions. We have no communication about this at our work place

PupInAPram · 14/11/2022 15:23

@LibbyL92 many local authorities have made it for the November pay day (ours has). I think a few have ended up missing a payroll deadline as they are going to pay it in December. It's our payday tomorrow and I'm proper excited for it🤣

our payday is tomorrow too! Fingers crossed we get ours as well.

will definitely help in time for Christmas won’t it!

Hippywannabe · 18/11/2022 06:16

Has anyone in a school had it yet?

Mumdiva99 · 18/11/2022 06:30

This is a £1 per hour pay rise (approximately).

I already spent mine - so hoping it covers the bill!!!
