£1925 per year

If you are covered by the njc pay award (local authority, school support staff etc) you will get £1925 per year pay rise, backdated to April 2022. It's flat rate for everyone (although obviously pro rata for part time). I'm in a school and we will get ours in November pay. It's going to be a massive help.

Has anyone not heard yet when they will be paid? Our payroll stated we would have an update but we’ve still heard nothing and had to look at our payslips to see that it hasn’t been paid in our Nov pay. Concerned now that we won’t get it in December either.

Does anyone know why employers aren’t made to pay interest on the money we should have been paid in April? Every extra month they keep the pay, they benefit from having it sat in their account. I don’t know how that’s allowed and they’re not forced to pay us interest for having to wait.

Ours is being paid in Dec. There were only about 5 days between the pay award being agreed and the cut off dates for November pay.

To be fair to the employers the reason for the hold up was because the unions were holding up the process by trying to adjust the agreement so it's not really their fault and they shouldn't be financially penalised for it.

slamfightbrightlight · 14/11/2023 13:53

We’re December too which is a bit nerve wracking as I leave at the end of Nov. Don’t want to have to battle for it, just want it paid to me!

Thanks @Baconking I hope I also receive it in December. Would just have been nice to have it confirmed as a lot of colleagues are also wondering.

Whilst I agree that it was the unions fault for delaying things, paying interest would not penalise the employer. They have had our money sat in their bank for all those months and had the union not delayed things, that wouldn’t have happened. Just annoyed that it benefits the employer by having it in their account yet we get nothing extra for having waited 8 months. I’d like to hope that it will be sorted more quickly for 2024, but I won’t bank on it.

Ours is being paid in December. We are an academy but ours is being backdated to April.

Ours is being paid in December too. We're in London so it will be £2,226. We've been advised that it is worth £140 per month before tax and NI and back pay will be £760, based on 35 hours term time only.

I left my role last year just before it was paid , I emailed HR before I left to confirm I could still be paid it after leaving so I had it in writing and they asked me to email and request it when it had been confirmed. All went fine.

RainSG · 14/11/2023 16:38

That’s good! HR haven’t replied to me about why it’s September and not April but Im going to just leave it with union rep now

CornishG · 14/11/2023 18:56

@PupInAPram Its good your Academy are back dating to April. Sadly ours are so tight its only to September. Once again we lose out.

ReedOfFate · 15/11/2023 10:21

The employers have already said that the delay in the agreement for this year will inevitably mean that next year’s agreement is also delayed.

So we had all better be prepared for whatever is agreed not to be in pay packets for a few months in 2024-25!

Hippywannabe · 15/11/2023 12:43

December for us.

Yes I feel lucky. We were tuped across to an Academy on green book terms and conditions so maybe that's it. I'm all year round so I'm getting the extra day of annual leave as well.

RainSG · 15/11/2023 16:44

@CornishG my academy are saying we are paid September to September that’s why we won’t receive the backdate, however, I’ve informed the union and they’re still saying we are still owed the backpay from April until September. My union rep is going to deal with it now so it’s really worth talking to your union, you never know we might get some joy!

ChristmasCakeAndStilton · 15/11/2023 17:15

Oohh, are we getting another extra days leave? On top of the one from last year?? I got a tiny payrise in lieu of that.

PupInAPram · 15/11/2023 17:46

@ChristmasCakeAndStilton the agreement for the extra day didn't become effective until April 23 so I first get it in this holiday year. So not much a second extra day, no.

Ahhh I had totally forgotten about the extra leave - that’s why my leave calculation has been odd this year (done electronically but I’ve changed hours several times) Thanks for the reminder!

Should we be getting the same as what we did in Novembers pay LAST November?

in trying to work it out. It’s the same amount right?

MrsWombat · 19/11/2023 07:43

I'm in an academy and we are getting the (London) pay award added to our December pay.

The (non tuped) contract we voluntarily moved over to last year is September to September so I doubt we will get an April pay rise. Is it worth me asking the union though?

What I have just had highlighted to me is that we didn't get any sort of pay rise from last April to last September for the transition period between old and new contract 😳so they are looking into that now.

CornishG · 19/11/2023 15:19

@MrsWombat We are the same. Ours is September to September. Apparently Academies can choose if they backdate to April. Unfortunately ours won't. Last year we missed out on any pay rise, the Trust we joined paid their staff but they were still on a lower wage than us so we stayed on our pay until we had all our jobs re-evaluated. Some grades were frozen and others went up. There was uproar for those frozen! Due to this pay rise everyone should now be unfrozen.

ChristmasCakeAndStilton · 23/11/2023 13:23

Woo-hoo
Payslip just hit the system (paid end of next week).
Take home - including back pay from April - up £700. New tires at haf term came to 670. Guess where it's all going!?
Obviously those of you with different hours etc will see different amounts.

Brilliant. Won't see mine until 15th, just in time for Christmas 🎉

Was yours the London or out of London amount?

and how many hours was yours based off of?

im trying to have a guess at what i will get.
my hours are 42.5 a week.

when I’ve looked at last years back pay it was the same amount being back dated and I was £1400 up? But I see a lot of people mentioning £700 which seems a lot less than last year?

ChristmasCakeAndStilton · 26/11/2023 18:28

Libby I'm out of London 37.5 hours a week, TTO (which is about 0.85).
So, my total rise is about 1600. We'not had a full year yet. And then tax, NI and pension comes off it. Not convinced I'd get 1400 for an entire years back pay!

Queenie8 · 27/11/2023 19:08

I'm outside of London, but receive outer fringe, work 37 hpw, TTO. I saw the pre-payroll report, mine is £1100 before tax and NI. (I see the report as part of my role).

I’ve been really silly! (Stupid) mine was pre tax!! So mine was around £780 last year.

which sounds about right!
