£1925 per year

If you are covered by the njc pay award (local authority, school support staff etc) you will get £1925 per year pay rise, backdated to April 2022. It's flat rate for everyone (although obviously pro rata for part time). I'm in a school and we will get ours in November pay. It's going to be a massive help.

I work in Hertfordshire and it was confirmed yesterday that we'll be getting it, and backdated from April in our November pay.

LibbyL92 · 03/11/2023 22:36

Can I be nosy and ask what date you get paid?

we get paid the 15th I’m wondering if it would of went through in time for payroll.

Queenie8 · 03/11/2023 22:47

@LibbyL92 we get paid last working day of the month. Payroll closes 7th November. So 3 weeks for it to be processed and sent and two days to clear BACS.

I would guess you'll get yours in December payroll.

Can you ask your School Business Manager/ school secretary - if you are in a school.

LibbyL92 · 03/11/2023 22:57

Thank you!

I had a feeling it would be December due to the dates.

I’ll check with them on Monday to clarify.

Our School Academy will only back date to September, not that we have been informed we will get anything yet. We used to get paid April -April but last year it changed to September so they will only back date then. Once again we lose out. It's disgusting especially when our wages are so low.

Hippywannabe · 04/11/2023 16:34

@CornishG does your academy chain begin with W?

Icefoot · 04/11/2023 17:57

Academies don't have to apply the increase at all if they choose not to, they set their own payscales

CornishG · 04/11/2023 18:41

Hi, no not a W, its T.

CornishG · 04/11/2023 18:43

They should follow suite and pay like everyone else. No wonder they can't recruit paying such low wages.

We are paid on the 15th. Had it confirmed yesterday we'll be paid backdated rise in December.

We’ve had emails to say ours will be paid on the 15th also. I have since found out we are getting £2,300ish as we are inner London.

Hippywannabe · 11/11/2023 17:59

Wow. That is good news. I checked the weekly newsletter this week but there is nothing in there about it.
Also threw it into conversation with the Head this week who changed the subject.
Might try and be brave and ask the Business manager this week.

I can't for the life of me figure out what my new hourly rate will be with this increase 🤣 don't suppose anyone would be kind enough if they can figure it out? Current yearly wage according to payslip is £10111.21 per year or an hourly rate of £10.9821. I work 21 hours per week term time and I get paid the same every month of the year (currently £842.60)

I don't know if this is right but
1925÷ 52 then ÷ 37 equals an extra £1/hour by my slightly fuzzy maths (am recovering from flu!)

SweetSakura · 12/11/2023 15:13

Which might explain why they picked that amount as the annua increase I guess!

Mummyof32020 · 12/11/2023 15:15

Thank you. That sounds like it could be right. Aww no, hope you feel better soon x

RainSG · 12/11/2023 22:41

Hi cornish G,

I also work for an academy and backdated to September not April. Happy to get the increase but I was gutted to lose out on quite a lot of the backpay. I don’t understand though because doesn’t that mean we don’t actually get the full increase? My contract says they follow njc terms so I was a bit confused by it

Hippywannabe · 13/11/2023 06:15

I haven't heard anything from the academy chain that I am in so hoping it won't be the same. It does seem unfair, is it worth giving the union a ring?

ChristmasCakeAndStilton · 13/11/2023 07:10

@RainSG this year you miss out on about half of the money you would get if you got an April pay rise, but every other year you get the full benifit of any previous payrises.

ChristmasCakeAndStilton · 13/11/2023 10:05

Woo-hoo,
Having said we won't see anything this side of Christmas, payrise and backpay coming in November pay.
Also getting paid early in December - so 20th in place of 29th. Not sure if this is good news or not. Jan is going to be very long!

RainSG · 13/11/2023 12:51

Contacted them today and they said it’s not right so I‘m following it up with it today. Also, informed union rep so let’s wait and see! Fingers crossed as it’s a lot of backpay lost.. hopefully you’ve had good news about yours :)

Lougle · 13/11/2023 19:54

It's hard to see half of it go out in universal credit. But grateful for the rise.

CornishG · 13/11/2023 20:00

We were notified the other day that our Academy will be paying us back pay to September and it will be in the end of Novembers wage packet. It works out at £1 per hr more. Still not fair that its not back to April.

RainSG · 13/11/2023 20:59

@CornishG have you spoken to your union? Mine are saying my academy should be backdating to April

CornishG · 14/11/2023 06:49

@RainSG no, not spoke to my union. We just had this email saying how we would be paid. I will speak to someone today about it.
