It’s divine em. Cheese or plain

ememem84 · 20/12/2021 20:11

I’m on it. Boxing Day maybe. Or at some point in the limbo week.

Madame le crueset should manage it right?

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/12/2021 20:13

Madame will be perfect

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/12/2021 20:13

Here is a sample recipe

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/12/2021 20:35

Wolfcub · 20/12/2021 20:35

This one is my favourite www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/herby-lamb-cobbler

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/12/2021 20:46

Ooo lamb. Good call

marthasmum · 20/12/2021 20:55

Oo I made plum cobbler recently, it was lush. Savoury cobbler would be nice too.
em that sounds grim and glad he’s been lucky. Did they say anything about nerve damage? When DD’s hand was injured from a dog bite earlier this year we had to watch for nerve damage (lack of sensation in fingers).
gen glad you are nearly there.
humbug I feel you on the credit card. Tbf I have the money put by to pay it off…but not the unplanned OD of £300 🙈
On a more frugal note I’ve done an account swap to nationwide. For £13 a month we’ll get family phone cover (for all the Xmas I phones - up to 4 claimed a year) plus travel insurance and breakdown insurance. Which I figure is a win. Also £100 for switch. Martin Lewis recommends it!
Like others I’m feeling unsettled I think. I’ve been really grumpy this past week and generally my moods been a lot better since I’ve been running. I think maybe a combo of all the Xmas organisation plus stress of not knowing if it’s happening. I had the car booked in for MOT today and needed to cancel as it also needs the windscreen fixing and auto glass are waiting on a part Hmm
But forgot to cancel and they had to ring me and ask where it was. I felt really upset about it for some reason. Funny times.

ememem84 · 20/12/2021 21:04

martha he’s to go back once the swellings gone down and then they’ll talk about that. He said he’s got feeling back now so fingers crossed it’s all ok.

Looks a right state though. Swollen puffy and bruised. Super fun times.

I am so making that cobbler. Yum. Lamb.

I’m not even looking at credit card balance. I’m burying head in sand until pay day (tomorrow). Then will deal. I know it’s going to be a huge bill. Because I’ve been using it loads. But. No more spends.

Mrsmadevans · 20/12/2021 21:09

Mrsmadevans · 20/12/2021 21:14

HumbugWhale · 20/12/2021 22:11

My mum makes an awesome cobbler. She does a chicken one for dh and the dcs and a veggie ones for me. I might need to subtly mention it's been a while since she did one... Grin

Dd2 is gearing up for a bad night. She is crying in her sleep. Dh and I have already been into her once each and tucked her in again. This always happens when she is overtired. The problem is that she is asleep but makes such a racket we don't sleep!

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/12/2021 22:11

I’ve got veg and meat then that’s it until January

Happierwithouthim · 21/12/2021 07:41

5 moy park chicken fillets gone into oven for dog as gone off, my own fault because I didn't pack & freeze items in fridge before going away for night sat night.

lifelongfrugaleer · 21/12/2021 07:57

Ah rubbish but lucky dog
Nsd planned today. Must start clearing out the units before i have another month to pay

floatinginmyhomie · 21/12/2021 14:56

I think touch wood we’re officially ready for Christmas. All presents have been bought and wrapped and the food is in. We are celebrating winter solstice today so will be going on a walk later. Hopefully it will be a NSD.
adora I hope your dd isn’t feeling too poorly.
em that’s good that DH is already starting to get feeling back hopefully there isn’t any permanent damage.
Cobbler sounds so tasty I will add the recipes to my notes.

moimichme · 21/12/2021 15:51

Frugal hoarding win today. The kettle has decided to stop working this afternoon. Luckily I suspected that this would happen soon, and bought a 'spare' in Black Friday sale.

Hope everyone is all right. Stressful time in general and feeling on edge, but trying to cheer up for ds and make Christmas as magical as possible.

Wolfcub · 21/12/2021 17:47

£250 summer holiday camp. Bonkers having to book it before Xmas. Looked for a holiday cottage for the summer. Either sold out or extortionate prices

lifelongfrugaleer · 21/12/2021 20:10

That literally is bonkers wolf. Where you fancing for holidays?

ememem84 · 21/12/2021 20:12

£350 paid off credit card.

Work gave me my Christmas present. A £250 voucher for m&s. That’s a lot of pants and Percy pigs.

We’ve had our Christmas argument. I hope.

Essentially DH can’t do anything with his bad hand. So I’m doing everything. I was meant to do a food shop today. But I’m exhausted. So am leaving it. Probably until tomorrow. Maybe until Thursday. DH asked when am I buying food. When am I doing xyz.

I banned him from asking because unless he finds another way to do it (no other online slots available) and seeing as he can’t drive. It’s me. And me only. He can’t wrap presents. Because you need 2 hands. Can’t cook food. 2 hands. Can’t do laundry (two hands and he’s never done laundry before). He can sit on the couch all day in his jammies watching Netflix. Which is fair enough. I know his hand hurts. But do not demand I do shit.

He has literally no idea. He suggested maybe I had a Jammie day. Which would be lovely. But when? Not next week when we’re both off with the kids. Probably sometime in the New Years.

Sorely tempted to stay out on Thursday night after work drinks. Tempted to stay at hotel. But that would hurt the kids because he can’t do dds nappies.

lifelongfrugaleer · 21/12/2021 20:34

Cheeky git

Taytocrisps · 21/12/2021 20:52

Did the bulk of my food shop this evening although I still need to get breakfast stuff for Christmas morning and veg. My shopping came to €141.56 but I saved about €30 with assorted vouchers. I also availed of some special offers. Rewarding myself with a Baileys coffee now before I hang up my washload and do the cats litter trays and wrap a present for a colleague for tomorrow.

Wolf that's crazy about the payment for summer camp.

Nice present from work em. Nightmare about DH being so helpless at this time of year.

Wolfcub · 21/12/2021 21:14

Life I was only looking at Whitby! Not exactly Venice but I could probably go to Venice for less

AdoraBell · 21/12/2021 23:02

NSD today, yesterday was spendy. £100 transferred to DD2 for groceries on Deliveroo plus £53 sent treats and Christmas present.

em glad his hand isn’t severely injured.

floating thanks, she says it’s only like a cold. She’s double vaccinated.

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/12/2021 08:14

Blimey, maybe everyone thinks we are staying home again next year and have priced accordingly
