Glad you finally made it life

I hope DH results bring good news unescorted

I can’t believe half term is nearly over 🙁

Alfiemoon1 · 30/10/2021 09:39

Morning all hope you enjoy your first night in you new home life. The dog isn’t happy with me this morning as I had to wake him up for his early morning grooming appointment have to take ds to work later then going to get some pumpkins for dh to do he is quite good at doing different designs. Have a good day everyone

Mrsmadevans · 30/10/2021 14:05

Sunny here it's delightful
Have a lovely day everyone 😊

lifelongfrugaleer · 30/10/2021 20:48

Spent a blooming fortune today stocking cupboards back up and stuff for the house, charity shop curtains 3 out of 4

HumbugWhale · 30/10/2021 22:21

Yay! Congratulations Life!

lifelongfrugaleer · 31/10/2021 07:38

Restart of Christmas shopping now. First world problem alert can’t decide on a stand mixer . Leaning to kmix rather than kitchen aid

Wolfcub · 31/10/2021 07:47

Life have a look at the kenwood prospero. It's a lot more compact (also Lakeland vouchers if they are still doing it). One thing to be wary of - there are two motor sizes. Only bother with the bigger motor

ememem84 · 31/10/2021 07:48

I have kmix.

OP posts:
lifelongfrugaleer · 31/10/2021 08:54

I will do that

lifelongfrugaleer · 31/10/2021 09:02

At the risk of being shallow I prefer the look of the kmix

Have missed a week of posts as we were away, will keep up again from now.
Great news on the move life at last!
Had a good week away, but weather has been dreadful, so sick of the rain now. We were in West Cumbria in the floods & I have to say here at home the rain has been pretty biblical this morning.
In frugal news, we seem to be doing okay at the moment.
Me being full time now (from 0.8wte) makes a bigger difference than I'd expected
We have increased our mortgage payments again
Our cupboards are well stocked at the moment. The holiday is one we do every year with a group of friends & we brought back a good stash of unused food.
Need to do some meal planning. Dh's parents are arriving on Thursday week for a few days so am trying to get a plan together for that. That's the same time I'm having a bit of a do for my 50th. I'm doing it jointly with a friend who is 50 the same day, so costs will be halved.
I'm being pressured to come up with present ideas, so far I've thought of Ooni oven and a new Kenwood to replace our antique one. I don't really do jewellery, clothes, bags etc so practical it is!
Today will be studying, sewing & sorting at home.

Alfiemoon1 · 31/10/2021 09:18

Morning all having struggled all week to get out of bed for work and having to take the dog to the groomers yesterday. I was so looking forward to an extra hours sleep and a lie in this morning but noooo I’ve been awake since 6 am gave up trying to go back to sleep and got up at 7 I feel robbed of the extra hour and a lie in. Everyone else is still asleep. Weather is miserable here have to take ds for his driving lesson at 11 am then going to my sisters to tea. Think it’s going to be a long day. Have a good day everyone

Taytocrisps · 31/10/2021 09:42

Morning all. I had a night away on Friday night. Tired from the driving so I'm planning a quiet day today.

I've to take DD to the dentist on Tuesday. She needs four teeth out (overcrowding) in advance of getting braces, so it's going to be an expensive visit. Had to take money out of my savings to cover it.

I've all my sweet bags made up for the trick or treaters later.

life delighted it all worked out for you finally. Wishing you every happiness in your new home.

marthasmum · 31/10/2021 11:38

life that’s brilliant news. I imagine quite emotional too and also expensive! Glad you’ve found some charity shop bargains.
unescorted fingers crossed for you, I hope you get news soon, sounds very stressful
alfie how annoying. Not sleeping when you could is pants
tayto four teeth! Your poor daughter Sad
em are tattoos all finished?
I’m proud of myself here, I’ve had a big clear out and tidy and managed to get DP on board with most of it (see below). House is looking much better. We had a nasty bathroom cabinet which I was going to tip as it was a bit rusty. DP has given it a good scrub and it’s now charity shop fit so kept out of landfill. He’s hoping DD will now want it for her bedroom Confused as he doesn’t really like to part with things. Our bedroom is large as it’s the attic but has a lot of stuff in it (think loads of books, a piano that no one plays but DP won’t get rid of as his friend have it to him…)
I’ve managed to get rid of some unissued craft stuff and some books but DP has sneaked another chair back in…
Feeling sad my holiday is over, have had a lovely week off.
north it’s good to know the extra money is useful. I often wish I could do 30 hours but realistically would be tight

northender · 31/10/2021 12:04

Martha it makes up for some of the pension contributions I have lost through being part time too. I would prefer still to be doing 4 days, but this job had to be FT so no choice.

lifelongfrugaleer · 31/10/2021 13:45

Spendy day t managed to get lots more from charity shop
Bed frame £110, sofa £95 plus £25 delivery
£44 dunhelm
£280 mattress delivered
The living room now needs a light shade and tv unit/sideboard but I’m getting the furniture from dunhelm it will be £300 after discount

More cleaning today as it was not left clean. Did the oven yesterday Halloween Envy

marthasmum · 31/10/2021 15:39

Glad you got some furniture from the charity shop life that’s a win win in my book. Grim cleaning other people’s mess though!

lifelongfrugaleer · 31/10/2021 16:22

Yes win win imo. Annoying that more maintenance needs doing than we first thought which is going to be sooner rather than later . Le sigh

northender · 31/10/2021 17:14

I remember the same happening when we moved in here life superficially things were okay, but when we were in, not so good. Guess it's a case of prioritising the most important stuff?

Wolfcub · 31/10/2021 18:23

When we moved in here it looked perfect like there was nothing to do as it had just been gutted and done up by developers £££££S and 14 years later and I've still not fixed all the issues

lifelongfrugaleer · 31/10/2021 20:29

That’s exactly it. Introduce myself to the neighbours today to ask if I chop back their tree

marthasmum · 31/10/2021 20:56

Ours looked very new when we moved it as it had been done up to sell. Now ten years on…not so much!

ememem84 · 01/11/2021 13:58

When we moved out of our place I paid for a deep clean to be done.

And then when we bought the place we’re in now I was assured that the same had been done. It hadn’t.

Oven was minging. As was fridge. Ick

OP posts:
lifelongfrugaleer · 01/11/2021 15:06

Yup, fridge was also bleurgh

Alfiemoon1 · 01/11/2021 21:51

Evening all spends today £18 on the lynx adent calendar for ds as he wanted it as part of his Christmas present it was £40 half price then he’s added his student discount to my advantage card so £18 and I had a free delivery code bargain except I have suddenly thought dd who hasn’t spoken to me the last few weeks a few texts dh hasn’t contacted ds either will probably kick off if she gets a regular chocolate advent calendar so I should probably get her a beauty one which probably won’t be as cheap on the off chance she comes to see us or makes any form of contact with us

Our Jls tickets have arrived which were ordered pre covid pre boyfriend so not sure what to do about them she’s not speaking to me it’s £150 worth of tickets ds dh don’t particularly want to see them I doubt he will allow her to go as in she will agree then cry off at the last minute being unwell so not sure wether to just sell them as it’s £150 worth of tickets really sad I took her to see them the first time around it was her first pop concert and they were amazing we were so excited to get tickets again
