Great balloon

Happierwithouthim · 23/09/2021 18:55

Balloon is epic em
Currently losing the will to live in Smyths, they should have place for adults here like shopping centre have crèches for dc Wink

Didn't come last thurs even though dd wanted to, so couldn't say no two weeks in a row. She had the money for some doll so should have been in and out but has now decided it's not worth €22, ds 7 is proclaiming that everything is overpriced:

Somehow I've got my full grocery budget from last week intact so I'm thinking maybe dinner out.

Dds alarm went off at 5am this morning didn't wake her but woke me. The attached nap is a result.

Tough situation but yes fund during uni but that’s it seems like the best

marthasmum · 23/09/2021 21:04

Just adding to the COVID frenzy, DS2 has tested positive, been poorly and now on the mend 🤞🏻DD has just today tested positive. I can go to work as I'm negative so far. DP can't as his work are more cautious than the national guidance. Go figure.
Work is crazy busy eg I've been in from 8-6.15 today.
Hope everyone else poorly, overworked and tired gets a break soon!!
We are also with bulb alfie so watching this space. I think there is some talk of a buyout t keep them afloat but haven't seen the news today

Alfiemoon1 · 23/09/2021 21:32

Oh no Martha hope dd gets better soon

Happy birthday Em's ds

Nsd and have bids on some of the stuff I put on Ebay, quite good bids!

MeadowHay · 24/09/2021 20:07

Ah hope MIL is ok Alfie you really are having a time of it atm SadFlowers

Today's spends just £3 on playgroup. Gosh I am shattered after 2 consecutive days of sole care of DD haha. It's so hard with my PGP now. Luckily spent a few hours at DPs this PM and DM helped entertain her so that passed some time without me having to be that physically active. The 30+ min walk to and from playgroup this morning absolutely killed my poor hips though ouch.

lifelongfrugaleer · 24/09/2021 20:12

Oh dear alfi.
Happy birthday ‘em ds . God 4 years has flown by

£40 M&S but mostly Christmas stuff. £80 Sainsbury’s c&c £59 Aldi

Alfiemoon1 · 24/09/2021 23:04

Thanks everyone the only news we have is that she is back at the care home will hopefully find out more tomorrow
£10 spends on a bottle of wine and a lotto ticket as surely my luck will change soon lol

ememem84 · 25/09/2021 07:45

£93 coop - mostly alcohol and party food
£35 lunch out for the 4 of us
£8 coffee drinks is and snacks at trampoline place.

It was so so fun. I thought ahead and paid for the whole morning instead of just a trampoline session for 45 minutes. They have soft play there too and I knew the kids would want to do both. So it was nice to be able to switch in and out. Exhausting though.

The guy supervising the trampolines saw ds was wearing a Spider-Man T-shirt and asked him how high he could jump. Ds showed him abs the guy they showed him how to do Spider-Man jumps and flips. He also showed me how to do a flippy. I used to do trampolining when I was a lot younger so knew how to do it. Just didn’t have the confidence. But a few crash mats and 30 minutes later I nailed it. Ds nailed a flippy after 15. 😀 no fear. Dd tried. And managed a roll poly on the trampoline. 😂

Party with dparents dsis and a volcano cake

Ds thoroughly spoiled.

Spends today £40 riding. And hopefully that’s it.

We have a bank holiday here to celebrate the 259th anniversary of the corn riots (no idea…) so Monday off. Yay.

Love the volcano cake Em, glad you all had a good day & well done on the trampoline flip!
alfie I think it's the right thing to support your dd through uni, it's what I'd do I think. You've got a lot on your plate at the moment, be kind to yourself.
I'm on a weekend away with dd, my mum and my aunty. It's budgeted for and apart from the accommodation and a meal out tonight, it won't be hugely spendy. We all brought food last night and had a lovely tea. It's something we started when dd was about 7 and have done every year until covid landed.
Awful work day yesterday, so glad to get away

ememem84 · 25/09/2021 08:36

north I’m hurting now! Am too old for that! 😂👍🏻

Cake looks fab em and well done on flipping.
I love trampoline but it’s too messy now

Wolfcub · 25/09/2021 08:55

Happy birthday Em's Ds, can't believe how quickly he's growing. Cake looks fab

HumbugWhale · 25/09/2021 09:08

That's an obscure bank holiday Em, but enjoy the day off. It looks like ds had a fab birthday.

MeadowHay · 25/09/2021 09:11

Ahhh ffs DD has a temperature AGAIN AngrySad poor thing, she's been having a covid test every month for the last 3 months! Feel so sorry for her. Really hope it's negative, last think I want is to be isolating with her for 10 days at 38w pregnant eek. Have people been saying there's quite a long wait for results atm too? She was absolutely fine yesterday too although she did wake up 3 times last night but only briefly and she often does that even when she's not unwell so didn't think anything of it.

Guess likely to be an NSD!

Alfiemoon1 · 25/09/2021 10:21

Cake looks fab em and well done on the flip oh no meadow hope dd is ok i posted my test Monday lunch time got my results Thursday am

marthasmum · 25/09/2021 11:28

Happy birthday em DS and well done both of you on the flip! My kids too used to do it without fear. I could not even attempt and if I did I fear I might wet myself.
alfie hugs to you, sounds tough. I think I too would do similar to you for DD.
Weird COVID results here - DS1 PCR is back and negative even though Lateral was positive and he’s been symptomatic. Anyone else understand this? We’re waiting on PCRs for the rest of us, having to do postal as struggling for slots locally. I’m off to do the food shop while I still can…

MeadowHay · 25/09/2021 11:47

Ah we did drive through test for DD and they told DH it will be 24-48hr turnaround. Hopefully the former, it was just over 24hrs last time and that was a weekend too. Very odd about the test results Martha but false positives on LFTs aren't super rare I don't think and he could be symptomatic with another viral infection?

Taytocrisps · 25/09/2021 12:49

Popping in to say 'Hi'. I've done a quick catch up and will be back later to comment on your news.

Having an expensive month. I had an eye test (been putting this off for months) as I badly need a new prescription. The optician informed me that I'm long sighted in one eye and short sighted in the other Confused. Anyway, I've ordered the frames and lenses so I should have them in about two weeks. This ageing business is expensive Smile. I can claim a small bit of the cost back through work.

I also ordered a new microwave. Re-heating dinners in the oven takes ages and they end up all dried up. Also, DD uses the microwave to make porridge for breakfast.

Now that we're into Autumn, I've switched to porridge for breakfast myself, although I make it the old fashioned way - on the hob. I throw some strawberries and blueberries into it, to sweeten it. I'm not great at eating fruit generally (we never had much of it when I was growing up 'cos money was tight) so it's good to know I'm getting some of my five a day also.

I've signed up to a Walktober challenge in work. I've joined a team with some of my colleagues.

I've also joined the Strictly thread.

I had a night away with my family last weekend, to celebrate a big birthday. It was great to see everyone but I was very tired on the Sunday afterwards, so DD and I had a duvet day. I need to catch up on housework this weekend. I gave the fridge a good clear out last night and washed assorted jars we were finished with that had tiny bits of jam, relish etc. stuck to the bottom. Loads more room in my fridge now and the washed jars have been deposited in the big, glass recycling bin in the town. I'm aiming to sort out my kitchen presses too, in the next few weeks. I want to throw out any old ,out of date stuff and buy some kilner jars for flour, caster sugar, coffee etc.

The separation is still dragging on. Ex's solicitor is MIA and hasn't returned any of his calls for weeks now. My own solicitor has attempted to contact her but hasn't heard from her either. Ex is on the verge of hiring a new solicitor. Which will probably delay things further. But we're not getting anywhere as it is. To say that all of this is massively frustrating is a major understatement.

Doing my best to leave the heating off until October although I did put it on for an hour one evening. It's been a fairly mild September.

I've wanted to see the musical 'The Lion King' for ages now and it's coming back to Dublin this year, but I think I've missed the boat. By the time I realized the tickets were on sale, the good seats were gone for weekends. I'd have to take DD out of school if I brought her on a week night and I'm reluctant to do that this year because it's her exam year. I'm annoyed with myself. But I guess it's saved me a bit.

DD had a few sessions with the counsellor, but the counsellor has said she'll leave it for a bit now, so I'm assuming that's a good sign. I need to book in with her for myself.

There's been a lot of chat here about tattoos and piercings (I had to look up some of the piercings Grin). I got my ears pierced as a kid but I was allergic to the earrings and my ears kept getting infected. I threw in the towel eventually and let the holes close up. I've never had any interest in tattoos.
