Excellent news tayto
Ah I get ya, my solicitor is family law but she has a conveyancing solicitor working in her practice. I've my family law bill paid but I dread what my conveyancing one will be, the case has been active since April this year.

Happierwithouthim · 08/12/2020 13:42

em the payment email address is for a company selling fish in malaysia. Hmm, will see what happens.

Happierwithouthim · 08/12/2020 13:43

Paypal give 180 days to open a dispute.

i'm sure it will be fine....as you say, PayPal give a lengthy time for refunds so you know you have that to fall back on if needs be.
Sherin18 · 08/12/2020 17:58

Hello is there any chance I could join please? I’m expecting DC2 in jan and I really need to start managing my money a bit better

lifelongfrugaleer · 08/12/2020 18:06

Hi sherin. Do you have debt or is it about making money go further?

£25 top up tonight.

Gensola · 08/12/2020 18:21

Spent £66 in TK Maxx on a huge amount of shower gel, hand wash and conditioner plus three packets of new socks and some gifts for family.
Have a horrendous day at work tomorrow and am planning to decorate the Christmas tree tonight to try and put it out of my mind!

We ended up with two embryos of good enough quality to freeze which is less than we hoped but still, two chances of a baby!

Taytocrisps · 08/12/2020 18:26

Welcome Sherin

I hope Seacow and Girlie and Cag (I forget her new username) are all ok. I didn't tag them in case they're taking a break.

Tightwad2020 · 08/12/2020 19:13

Congratulations on your embryos, @Gensola. Good luck, good luck, good luck.

Took two pairs of trousers to the dry cleaners today for mending and alteration. Will be £24 but will give a new lease of life to said items and keep them going for a good long time yet. I have found weight loss to be a good frugaleering strategy, as I've been able to repurpose all my wardrobe back into service!

However, I did weaken today and have ordered a warm down jacket from Uniqlo - existing one is well manky, even for dog walking. It was £70, with a £10 discount code and free delivery, so we'll see. I can always return it.

Did my shopping and errands all on foot today, and have done over 12k steps. About to take dog for a trot and then its Thai-ish pork burgers with rocket and walnut salad, lime pickle on the side (£5.24 in butcher - is that expensive for pork mince? no idea).

Currrently watching Sex Education on Netflix - have definitely got my money's worth this year! Got free tickets to a local gallery tomorrow evening, to kick off date night with DH.

lifelongfrugaleer · 08/12/2020 19:21

Ooh hope so gen.

ememem84 · 08/12/2020 19:29

gen sending lots of positivity your way

SingToTheSky · 08/12/2020 20:14

Hello

I am not good at keeping up with threads. Or being frugal.

(Can’t remember if I was on here with this name but it’s Cag/laneboy...)

SingToTheSky · 08/12/2020 20:22

Ooh hi tayto thanks for the mention! Hope the other MIA frugaleers are ok too! I will catch up with the thread in a bit (thought I’d jump in while it’s only a few pages!).

So things have been errr a bit mixed TBH, had to come off the meds due to epic anxiety so MH issues had somewhat taken over for a while. DH not doing well either especially pain wise, he had some nerve block procedures that didn’t work Hmm. DD1 not really liking school as much as we hoped (bullying mainly) but the younger two are good.

In very exciting news, some of you might remember I said several times I would start thinking about tutoring again. And then didn’t.

Well I got tagged on a local post about piano lessons last week and long story short I now have four pupils :o I honestly don’t care as much about the money as I do about the fact I finally have a bit of me back!

Tightwad2020 · 08/12/2020 20:26

Hey @SingToTheSky - nice getting of the gig! may your pupils be diligent and your new business prosper.

ememem84 · 08/12/2020 21:32

sing amazing re the pupils xxxx

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 08/12/2020 21:37

Hi all, thanks for the mention tayto 😊

Nice to see you sing sorry things have been a bit shit. That's a shame re dd, are the school being helpful?

Things have been mixed here as well but hopefully we're on a bit more of an even keel now! Dd is doing okay, I'm still in charge of all her food choices but she is eating what I give her and is slowly regaining the weight she lost.

My dad has a triple heart bypass after weeks in hospital but is now home and slowly recovering.

I'm just about plodding on with work, sorting out dd, trying to keep on top of the house work etc etc. We've just had new flooring laid in the living room, it cost nearly a grand 😵 but I'm pleased as it looks lovely and is so much more practical!

I've started Christmas shopping but plan to crack on with it tomorrow on my day off. My brother sold me his old iPhone 10 (I think) for £100 which will be dds main present.

It's going to be a funny Christmas this year as likely just be me, dd and my mum!!

Hope everyone else is good and I've not missed anything too major?

Will attach pic of shiney new floor!!

Thanks for dropping by sing and girlie
Great news and hugs for the crappy stuff

Sherin18 · 08/12/2020 21:45

Hi @lifelongfrugaleer I have no debt, it’s just about making money go further. I don’t have much money at all so it needs to be stretched very thin

lifelongfrugaleer · 08/12/2020 21:58

No debt is good.
Go thought all your outgoings and be ruthless. Get rid of unessential ones get better deals on the essential ones. Plan plan plan. Tracking spending can see where your money goes

Accidentalaccountant · 09/12/2020 07:29

I need to be better at keeping up too. Need to be frugal for next couple of months as some money has been delayed

northender · 09/12/2020 07:40

No debt is brilliant Sherin
Wishing you so much luck with the embryos gen
Good to see you both, girlie and sing
Had a lovely night last night decorating the tree a few days earlier than planned due to pressure from ds (19)! He and dd got properly involved, he said he wanted to do something to brighten things up. So we now have our biggest tree ever I think, but bedecked with the same eclectic mix of tinsel & baubles. They finished it as every year, together setting up the plastic nativity figures from years ago on the landing window sill. No spending, but a really lovely time. He should've been in Australia now so making the most of another Christmas all together.
I'm off work now until next Tuesday. Need to get Christmas shopping done & cards sent.

ememem84 · 09/12/2020 09:14

sherin no debt is amazing. good job!

girlie nice to see you. love the floor!

lifelongfrugaleer · 09/12/2020 14:29

northender · 09/12/2020 14:36
