I am a bit jealous of the snow. it rarely snows here, although when it does the whole island comes to a standstill.

I only saw snow for real when i was in my early 20's. it had snowed here previously but we'd always missed it! dh and i flew to colorado for a friends wedding and the snow - i've never been so excited! like a small child! throwing it at dh at every opportunity (he wasn't happy with this), pushing him in it (again not happy). so so amazing though. Smile

dm gave us our unused sledge from when dsis and i were kids the other day - she'd been in her loft and got it down for ds to use if it snows. so its sitting in our garage waiting.

i was going to go out for a walk at lunchtime but its still raining here. so i took sometime and did a bit of a declutter of the wardrobe and the dining room dresser drawers. two bags of rubbish out and one bag sorted for charity shop. yay!

so far nsd. although i almost keep twitching and wanting to look at the sales online. so far....havent done it.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 30/12/2020 16:28

Spendy day as predicted

£60 in Aldi - needed lots of basics.
£64 hairdressers for dd and I, pleased we got our hair done as likely to be ages until we can go again.
£8 in the Body shop on a gift
£10 Wilkos on bits and pieces
£4 on some half price Christmas directions
£3 on half price Christmas cards for next year.
£30 Superdrug, I needed some of my pricey face cream and unfortunately its not on offer anywhere, also got some of the half price toiletries to put in the gift box for when dd announces its her mates bday and she needs a present for the next day!!

Wolfcub · 30/12/2020 16:38

Accounts redone ready for the first payday of the new year. I need to ring up and pay the house insurance in one go to try and limit the damage caused by the premium increase. Also including the increase in boiler cover, car tax and car insurance. Still waiting to find out re council tax, water etc so will need to do another religion when those come through

That sounds like a productive shopping trip Girlie, I am sorry Camhs aren't giving you the support you need, you must be knackered with it all. If there's anything we can do even if it's just to provide a space to vent just shout

lifelongfrugaleer · 30/12/2020 16:56

Sorry chams are not being g helpful girlie. We are totally here for you. Send wolf or I your email address and we can Skype you if its easier to speak off line. A few of us do.
Nsd here today and tier 4 from tonight.

I need another round of declutter before we move. Might start at the weekend

lifelongfrugaleer · 30/12/2020 17:42

Well

Unescorted · 30/12/2020 18:18

I am so knackered from doing approximately nothing all day.

Girlie that is frustrating that Camhs are not being as supportive as you would hope. On a brighter note DS is terrible for telling me that he needs things - cakes for the next day as i am thinking of going to bed, presents after shops close... your DD is not alone in this.

And T4 it is.... there is a surprrise.

Where we live is going to be tier 3. But go 5 miles in most directions and we’re into Tier 4, including where we work.

House is currently exploding with stuff- DDs 6th birthday today. We’ve been out to dinner (booked about a month ago) as it’s somewhere we’re happy with the social distancing. Worked out quite well as it’ll now be a while until we can eat out again.

Dinner was £47 including tip as we had a 50% off voucher.

Lovemaltesers · 30/12/2020 18:42

Sorry to hear how difficult things are with DD girlie

I’m awaiting a meeting with the social worker to discuss my dad in the new year Sad . I hope this is quick. We’ve had contact with police twice since Christmas Eve.

maddenlightfoot · 30/12/2020 18:47

We're still Tier 3... for now... but will avoid most things anyway as much as we can. We did go to the park today as it wasn't too busy (too cold I think!).

Girlie I'm so sorry you're in this situation. Christmas is isolating enough anyway, especially when living with any kind of mental illness, but throw in the past year and a woefully inadequate and underfunded nhs and support services and it's a perfect storm 😞

lifelongfrugaleer · 30/12/2020 18:51

Tier 4 here.
Trying to figure if DD will get online learning from next week or week after.

Happy 6th birthday love DD. Fingers crossed for lovedad

maddenlightfoot · 30/12/2020 19:17

Oh yes love - sorry I x-posted. Happy birthday to your dd. And hope things go ok with your dad. I'm just listening to today's Woman's Hour which is all about ageing and supporting our elderly parents. It's very uplifting but also so focused on addressing issues and getting them out in the open as soon as possible - early intervention and forward planning (but also recognising how difficult these conversations are)

Wolfcub · 30/12/2020 19:41

Happy birthday Love's dd and so sorry to hear about Lovedad, again if there's anything we ca. Do or you need to vent just shout and fingers crossed for an early conversation with the social
Worker in the new year

SnugglySnerd · 30/12/2020 19:44

Happy birthday Love's dd

Tier 4 here now and quite stressed about return to work next week. There's a lot to get our heads round in secondaries in the coming weeks. I wish it were this time last week!

AdoraBell · 30/12/2020 20:08

£90 on grocery delivery followed by £15 in store because after the announcement I CBA cooking 🤦‍♀️

Mrsmadevans · 30/12/2020 20:19

Happy birthday to your Dd Love CakeStar hope things imrove with your Ddad bless you Flowers
Have been recommended Death to 2020 on Netflix has anyone seen it?
Supposed to be funny Smile

Unescorted · 30/12/2020 20:20

Happy Birthday LoveDD . We were in a lower tier compared to ours neighbours for a while ... it was shit everyone tipped over the border to meet their friends and families. They were mostly the people who didn't think the guidance applied to them (mask, numbers, distancing) We ended up not going out at weekends because of the coaches of visitors.

Snuggly & Mrs it must be so hard with all the changes every 2 seconds and delayed announcement of detail. I keep meaning to ask - what subjects do you teach?

Gensola · 30/12/2020 21:47

Happy birthday love DD Cake

Sorry to hear about CAMHS girlie it sounds really hard.

I spent £118 on gym gear and haven’t had a confirmation email nor has money gone from bank so I think it hasn’t gone through but don’t want to buy it all again in case it suddenly does go through. So annoying.

ememem84 · 30/12/2020 21:53

love sorry to hear about ddad. Use us as a sounding board. And remember to take care of yourself. You can’t pour from an empty cup.

Thinking about New Years resolutions here. Or changes I want to make.

Money ones:

  • increase savings by £15 a month. Not enough to get stressed by but enough so jt makes a dent
  • make money work better for me
  • spend less (obvs)
  • save more

Non money but frugal ones:

  • use what I have - I have so much “stuff” so am doing a no buy unless absolutely necessary 2021. Or at least will try.

More self care.
And to try and get my screen time down to under 2 hours a day (phone only) given wfh at present.
More books (audio or otherwise)
More exercise.

SnugglySnerd · 31/12/2020 07:09

Yes absolutely use us as a sounding board love, we are all here for you.

I have been dozing in bed for about an hour, should really get up. Early start on Monday is going to be a big shock to the system!

Today we are going to list all the things we have enjoyed this year (there have been some!) and all the things we are looking forward to/hoping to do in 2021. We need things to look forward to!

lifelongfrugaleer · 31/12/2020 07:18

Going to do a freezer audit and meal plan. Will need a couple of bits from the co-op. Wraps, fruit.
Working today so will drag ds out later as scoot park is now shut

Wolfcub · 31/12/2020 08:55

Pay day. Paid myself first and knocked a bit off the credit card for the sofas.

Bad dreams last night and then a worrying text from df about dm's mental health this morning following and exhausting convo with dfriend last night (it's every night) about her mh. I feel drained already. We definitely need to get out for a walk today. We tried yesterday but everywhere we went the car parks were full so we didn't stop.

Freezer audit sounds a good plan Life. I had a good look through mine pre-Christmas but now need to eat some of it!

Resolutions/plans sound good Em

Unescorted · 31/12/2020 09:23

Mrs I have no idea why I thought you were a teacher.

wolf yay for pay day.

I am going to park this here..... I am looking forward to NYE not happening. I am not a fan of its forced jovility and having to stay up.
