@Wolfcub

I've just ordered myself yet more LucyLockets as it's 15% off this weekend. I am a real leggings hater and I bloody love these. They are actually really comfy for working in.

Also ordered a desk and chair for my office. Chair won't come until October and desk not until January - 20% off plus £20 off voucher.

Having discussed with my df I'm going to paint ds a length of mdf cut to size and attach legs. I'm not having a repeat of the IKEA experience

Wow that's a long wait for delivery Shock
Happierwithouthim · 22/08/2020 07:18

I found a dress for my cousins wedding next year, check out the discount!!! Bloody attachment doesn't seem to be working €195 got it for €59.86 including delivery. Grin it's going to be my motivation to lose weight Wink

Got refund from au pairs car insurance €90.07, it's spent already. Went to the range bought two lamps(dd has commandeered mine since moving into her own bedroom), bulbs, two sets of dinnerware for 'new house' thinking positively.

I also found my couch in Harvey Norman it's reduced currently, I didn't buy but will do once purchase goes through.
My solicitor is off until 7th sept now so nothing will happen until then, but I should hear from bank in the interim. I had hoped I'd know re purchase by month end so I could avoid paying rent for sept but that seems unlikely now. Sure it's savings either way, if I pay it landlady will give me deposit back on departure.

Back to work on Monday for 3 days, dc go to childminder on Monday for first time, then I've a babysitter coming into house for next two days. Then I'm off thurs, fri & mon and they're back to school on the tues morn.
Childcare will cost me €160 this week for 3 short days, going forward though dc have gotten a place in breakfast club so that's €5 each for week and twice a month they'll be at childminder €25/30 after school for an afternoon, I will also be paying for school bus they'll be using it for 7/8 of the 10 journeys per week, full cost is €35 not sure what I'll be paying yet. Either way 2 weeks will now cost what I was paying au pair for one week Grin

Darn still not working Angry

Unescorted · 22/08/2020 07:40

Howl DD was dressed in boys clothes most of the time - her umbilical cord was confused for a willy at the scan. In the end it worked well - ds got to wear her hand me downs.

happier that is nice of your exSil. It would have been really easy for her to give the credit to her Bro.

How many frocks does one person need for university? In this house it appears to be n+1, where n is the current number. It is as well she is buying 2nd hand

Happierwithouthim · 22/08/2020 08:04

Unescorted she's dc's sil not mine, I was his second wife, he brought current gf to this & they stayed in hotel room with my dc Angry

Never have enough dresses for some girls WinkGrin

We are glamping at the zoo tonight. I am excited and also nervous. My “what if” game is strong today:

What if the kids don’t settle
What if we don’t sleep
What if they are scared
What if the lemurs go off in the middle of the night (this is a genuine concern the camp site is right next to the back of the lemur enclosure and those things are LOUD when they howl..!!!!)

I have answers to all my what ifs though. If the kids don’t settle they don’t settle. It’s one night. If we don’t sleep we don’t sleep. It’s one night. If the kids are scared it’s one night.

It was paid for months ago so that’s all good. And we only realy have to take sleep things and snacks and drinks. There’s two cafes at the zoo where we can Order take away from and we’re going to go to our fave beach cafe in the morning for bacon and sausage rolls. Yummo.

The cost (£230) includes zoo enterance for our stay. So we’re going to go this afternoon after check in then tomorrow too. It’s usually be £40 for just me and dh per trip. So to have this included is fab.

Plus proper bed wood burner proper shower bedding all included. Phew.

Wolfcub · 22/08/2020 08:36

Happier that's a great saving not having the au pair

I emailed solicitor last night too. Ex seems to have finally found legal representation and I need to know if we need to change the disclosure note because of new job. Have also told ex about new job.

Ordered 8 desk legs from Ikea. I have two pieces of mdf in my B&q basket but not ordering yet. Want to get carpets sorted first. Feel a little like I'm leaking money all over the place at the moment

There can never be enough dresses Unescorted

Life what does dd dislike about the Seasalt dress?

Howl have a lovely holiday

I'm going to finish my cuppa and then do some sanding in my pjs before I shower so I don't spend all day dusty.

I need to write my dad a cheque for the new internal doors which came this week £300

We had a funny moment yesterday. I thought I was texting ex about ds's behaviour in Ikea, I couldn't see properly because the face mask gets in the way a bit, plus tired and cross not a good combo. Got a text from my dad saying you'd better come home now. Assumed dgm had died so rushed down the motorway, prepared ds for bad news. Walked into a very calm house and went to ask my df if she'd gone. Total confusion. I'd been sending the texts to ex to my dad and he'd suggested I come home because he was concerned I was frazzled with ds. Whoops.

I did the £100 payment I was waiting for yesterday, but also another extra bonus I wasn't expecting in the post. Feeling lucky after getting stung by a wasp previously. I had started a saving plan when I was 18 with scottish friendly and paid in £25 a month for 10 years. I was expecting to just get my original amount back £3000 but I got an extra £443.14. I only got serious about saving money two years ago so know I would have 100% have frittered that money away and it collected without me really noticing.

Food shopping yesterday= £7.33. I'm trying to get my weekly food budget down to £20 a week for a single person.

I want to rejoin the gym again and haven't been since december. That's £20 a month with off peak membership instead of their usual £30- I found my mental health got worse when I stopped going but they were also closed.

I also need to buy my travel card which will be around £60.

Orangecake123 · 22/08/2020 10:42

I hope your kids enjoy themselves at the zoo. It sounds like a lovely idea.

Wolfcub · 22/08/2020 11:48

Been to order blinds for four windows. Will be about £505.

That sounds brilliant Em, have fun!

howlathebees · 22/08/2020 13:28

Thank you life!

unescorted oh god I’m worried that’s happened to me and now DS4 is actually DD!. I have a scan in sept so will get confirmation then!.

em that sounds amazing! Have fun!

Thank you wolf!

DSF has dropped some presents around for my birthday tomorrow. He got a cake for me and have bagged some up for the safari park today. The weather is a bit brighter so hopefully will stay dry!

maddenlightfoot · 22/08/2020 14:13

Wolf we've been spending a bit in the house recently too - blinds and stairs carpet - feels like leaking money but will be so worth it!

Howl enjoy your holiday (and birthday!). It's so windy here in Devon. Luckily we had the beach tent as all five of us had to huddle inside with the flap folded up when a torrential downpour came over. We're back at the holiday let now warming up. We left earlier than planned which is a bit annoying as parking was £8.50 😲

How does everyone else budget for spending money for holidays? Do you have an amount per day or for the holiday overall? We've benefitted from Eat Out to Help Out and have mainly talent picnics and eaten in but we've also been on days out etc.

ChristmasSeacow · 22/08/2020 14:45

Have fun Howl and Em - zoo glamping sounds cool!

Howl your tmi story is rather touching - I don’t imagine DH would enjoy doing that for me! We don’t make any time for each other and at the moment we are rather like people who job share the DC and like the same box sets of an evening... you’ve made me think we must try harder Hmm.

Wolf ds sounds awfully hard work. I do think one day, when he’s got over this angry phase, he will acknowledge what a little shit he was for a few years, and what an ace mum you are. I hope (and believe) you will come out the other side of these tough years and enjoy Ds again. Hang on in there.

Girlie thinking of you. I can’t imagine how tough this particular challenge is - the feeling of not knowing what to do for the best and not wanting to make a wrong move. Have you seen today’s Times? There’s an article by Caitlin Moran about bringing up a child with an eating disorder. I haven’t read it fully yet, just skimmed (I can’t read in the car) but she’s an excellent and honest writer. Check it out, PM me for the link if you can’t find it. You need to register to read a limited number of articles for free behind the paywall. No answers but perhaps helpful to read about someone else with the same challenge.

I also have awful Internet - very helpful on video calls Wink.

We’re on our way home after 2 weeks in wales. Was good but obviously a bit of a compromise this year as quite a few things are shut or operating differently... and the weather was a bit iffy... still, we are very thankful to have had a break. And the Dc absolutely loved the dog-free beaches. Thanks so much Granny and Mrs for the recommendations. We made it to Hillend beach on Thursday - was lovely but we ended up having to leave after an hour as there were too many dogs for DS. I had really wanted to see the shipwreck but he just couldn’t cope. It was also exceptionally windy! So we went back to Langland - not as pretty as Caswell but the rock pools were a huge draw for both DC. They wanted to go there every day! We had planned to go to Laugharne yesterday but the weather was awfully windy so we skipped it, had a chilled Morning at home then went to Verdi’s in Mumbles for a sundae, as you guys suggested. It was excellent, and the weather brightened up for a last walk along the sea front. So a good end to our holiday.

Not such a good end though - I set fire to a welsh cake in The microwave last night Blush. Bloody analogue dial timer - it must have been in for less than a minute (i couldn’t set it accurately for 15s as I would at home... and got distracted). Billowing smoke, flames, the works. I have confessed to the air bnb owner. Waiting for them to tell me if they want to charge me for a replacement (it works fine, but there are some stubborn soot marks inside and the smell is lingering). I love a welsh cake but might give them a swerve for a while!

We’re on our way home now and the car is packed to the gills. We brought load of stuff we didn’t use - summer dresses and most significantly the bloody huge buggy, which takes up a lot of boot space and has been used not even once! Before lockdown we took the buggy everywhere, though DD was mostly walking, but suddenly we are not buggy users any more. Hurrah for the next holiday! More room for the beach tent we bought last week.

We’re about an hour from home and I’m looking forward to being back, though I have the work dread for Monday 😬

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 22/08/2020 15:25

Thanks for all the support 😘 I do feel very on my own with it all and like I'm getting it wrong most of the time 😢

So dd is very unhappy about the lack of exercise but i keep telling her it's not forever and the sooner she starts eating the sooner she can start doing it again! Today she wouldn't eat breakfast but did have poached eggs for lunch and has had a couple of biscuits this afternoon.

I just feel so sad about it all, sing without wanting to scare you that's how dd started by saying she's not hungry all the time.

Sea i will look for that article thank you.

I tried to buy a load of clothes at Next online this morning but couldn't get into my account so didn't! Sort of frugal although we do need the clothes!!

Spent £70 in Aldi, first shop in ages and we needed lots of stuff.

Wolfcub · 22/08/2020 16:04

Girlie that does sound incredibly tough, can you get some support for you, either A counsellor or a good friend you can confide in to help you through? We are of course always here for you but we can't give you a real hug through the internet

Ds has baked, also been a sneaky sod with the tv/Xbox and been told off, we've played rummy. I've done a load of washing and undercoated the majority of the rest of the office woodwork that I didn't do last weekend including the other side of the floor-door in the attic. 3 Walls and ceiling to finish tomorrow and then next weekend I need to shuffle all the furniture over, take down the bookcase and do the one remaining wall, and gloss the woodwork. Nearly there.

Madden you've reminded me I need to go and choose carpet!

Ds wants his room decorating now. Aaaaaargh. I am so sick of paint!

Sea glad you've had a lovely holiday. Well done to dd on all the walking. I remember we tried everywhere on the way back from wedding/honeymoon to get rid of the buggy, it ended up coming all the way home with us before it went in the bin.

I won't be signing up to the gym after all- my area has seen a large increase in CV cases.

ememem84 · 22/08/2020 16:31

Ds is losing his mind. Ridiculously excited.

Our glamp pod is amazing.

And we are next to the lemurs.

Pics are lovely Em 😁 have s lovely time 🤗
Wolf 💐 👏 well done on the painting 🎨 excellent work 😁
Girlie hugs my dear you are doing your utmost l so hope DD is much improved very soon 💐
Sea so happy for you that you enjoyed yourselves . Verdi's is just amazing , we go when we are in the area , must go again soon l need a good day out 😁
Madden l have to allow so much each day . I try to plan in advance. We haven't been away for 2 years due to Mum & Dad but old habits of die hard l can't see us being any different than we are now when we do get away, trouble is everything has gone so expensive . I think it will be worse when Brexit is finished too 🙄
Happier Dd2 has ordered her sofa and it will take 9 weeks!!
Popped to Morrisons this morning, shopping for us 23 , Mum's shopping 29 . Have just had a quick nap l was so tired it wasn't true!

SnugglySnerd · 22/08/2020 22:04

That looks brilliant Em!

Girlie sorry to read about dd, sounds really tough. No advice but I'm thinking of you.

This has been a spendy week but all necessary things like school shoes, hair cut etc.

Bornlazy · 22/08/2020 22:57

Nsd today.

Work was crazy busy didn't get your lunch until 1600. Still it was a quick day.

Girlie I'm not sure a partner would make it any easier. I can only imagine my dh would have no clue how to deal with such a sensitive issue and we would probably argue over how to deal with it.
You are doing your best and that's all you can do. You've taken firm action really quickly which I'm sure will have helped.

em that looks amazing. Hope you get some sleep tonight

AdoraBell · 22/08/2020 23:48
