Definitely back on furlough as I didn't get a panicky call today.
Spent about £13 on super glue, drill bits and a tray of eggs at ye olde hardware shoppe.

Then £6.20 posting ebay sales.

Been a quiet day. Hacked back my cute living willow hedge (remember when I planted that?) well it's grown 8 flipping feet since the weather turned last month.

Homemade pizza for tea. By the way, asda bread mix (comes in a 500g packet, 68p) makes the best pizza base. Dp puts a dollop of sour cream in the mix. Comes out like Dominoes.

Meal plan is working like a charm.

LonelyOversharer · 01/07/2020 19:55

Ffs. First I couldn't get paragraph breaks, now they are double spaced.

Wolfcub · 01/07/2020 20:04

Iwont welcome. There are no rules. Do what works for you. A page or so back we posted some tips and links for other new frugal friends

My top tip is set an annual budget. Stick to it as rigidly as you can and when you get paid pay yourself first ie put money away for annual/infrequent expenses and savings before you do anything else

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/07/2020 20:22

£12 Aldi
Gosh lonely that has grown.
Welcome new people. As wolf says post how you like. Ask what you need to.

Unescorted · 01/07/2020 21:08

I find I feel accountable to people here. Not spending / finding a bargain is seen as a good thing - where as in RL it is all "Look at my new and shiny".

Lonely I have a book about living willow sculpture I can send you if you want. It is in the charity pile.

Our cistern has come out with Mrs's - it is leaking. It dates from the 80's so hasn't done badly although is really hideous looking. I am kind of tempted by emptying it and filling the crack from the inside with glue. DH says that it is a temporary fix and we may as well get a new one.... does anyone know where I can get a cheap bathroom porcelain?

ememem84 · 01/07/2020 21:18

eam and iwant welcome!!!

Back from yoga.

News here - our borders are opening in full on 3 july. The general population here are fuming. There will be voluntary testing and voluntary isolation until test results come through.

I predict being back in lockdown within a month.

unescorted my garden is half filled with willow now, hedge, arch and this year a little dome dp will build a bench in, eventually. It just grows like billy-o. Need to learn to weave baskets. Another bloody crafty hobby coming up!

Cheap loo's in B&Q. Ours was about £50. Not sure if you can just get a cistern though.

I've wasted my evening watching documentaries on Queen Victoria. No idea why.

Unescorted · 01/07/2020 23:21

Not quite as far as you

Gintime74 · 01/07/2020 23:24

I would like to join you. DH has just been medically retired so big change to our income and life. I’ve downloaded a budget app to my phone and everything looks ok and manageable but I could still do with making some cutbacks.
I was due to go on a big holiday this month , luckily everything was refunded and I have used the money to book a Cornwall holiday for next year and to do the house up a bit.

Wolfcub · 02/07/2020 06:21

I've been awake since before the birds. I have meetings 8am-6pm please someone just shoot me now and put me out of my misery

lifelongfrugaleer · 02/07/2020 07:11

Welcome gin

Bloody hell wolf that's a shit day. With or without DS too? I've had a few busy days. Benign neglect parenting here.

ememem84 · 02/07/2020 07:12

Me too mrs.

I’ve just read the travel guidance. So. Anyone wishing to come to the island should either:

Provide evidence they’ve tested negative within 72 hours prior to travel or opt to self isolate on arrival.

There is the option of being tested at airport and harbour (apparently only if you don’t have the above evidence). Once tested you only have to isolate if your test comes back positive. Currently tests are taking up to 72 hours to come back.

It’s a bit ridiculous if you ask me. This has been done the day we have zero cases. Surely it’d be better to wait a bit?

Anyway. Nails today. £39 I think.

And coffee at work.

Phew I've reviewed my diary and it's next Thursday with the 6pm ending meeting. Hopefully I can down tools at 5. Zzzzzzz

Life i do have ds today. He's being hard work this week school work wise but for once not responsible for my lack of sleep

SnugglySnerd · 02/07/2020 11:46

Welcome gin

We are trying to work out what school will be like in Sept. Finding it all a bit stressful. Wish we could just go back to normal!

lifelongfrugaleer · 02/07/2020 12:15

Yes, looks like a logistical pain

Lovemaltesers · 02/07/2020 12:22

Between the four of us living in my house, we will work/attend four different schools in September. I suspect lots of self isolation followed by tests will keep having to happen once more children are back!

ememem84 · 02/07/2020 13:41

Nails!

Lovely nails ememem! I would like to get in the habit of having my hair and nails done regularly. I need to look more groomed.
Can I ask whether any of you use budget apps and which do you recommend?
