£13 drinks and ice cream national Trust. Lovely walk about and change of scene.

Unescorted · 28/06/2020 17:55

Gives wolf a hug..... just because.

Same old work wise for me except I am Midlands based rather than in the best place on earth Sad, DD off to Uni, DS finally managed to ride the Tour Divide and now has a lucrative speaking gig (with DH) about their adventures. Their book gets published in October. Mum has been cancer free for 2 years now. DDad is not so lucky.

My Lockdown learning has been pop up book mechanics.... Who doesn't love a pop up book? And I am rubbish at languages.

The food bank is getting busier... Sad It took me 3 hours to unpack quarantine and restack the shelves today. I am dreading August.

SnugglySnerd · 28/06/2020 19:57

Mrs it doesn't sound nuts at all! I also find it helps sometimes just to get things off my chest!

Had a lovely day, went for a very blustery walk this morning which certainly blew the cobwebs away. Did some jobs this afternoon, the dcs helped with some dusting and window cleaning and it was actually quite good fun. Saw my mum for a couple of hours which was brilliant and then I've been building Lego with the dcs until bed time. Tiredness hasn't hit me yet, I've kept going all day but I expect it'll catch up with me tomorrow.

mrs vent away. I’ve always found this is such a friendly space and sometimes you’re right it helps to write it down.

Ordered more hangers. £16

A busy box wooden toy cube thing for dds birthday next month £50 (?)

Mrsmadevans not mad at all I use this thread to plan out financial decisions and once I've written it down here it comes together better for me in my head

Ds is a clever clogs. We’re potty training at the moment and he’s spent the day in proper pants. One accident. And one almost accident (but I recognised his poo face and scooped him up and plopped him on the toilet just in time!)

He’s learned that if he shouts “I need toilet” when we’ve put him to bed he gets picked out of bed and taken to toilet. Because we can’t ignore him. The one time we do will be the time he really needs to go.

Totally unfrugal house reno news. Dh has accepted a quote from a carpenter to supply and fit decking in our garden. £6500. Carpenter will also build bench seating for us. It’s a lot but it’s the type of decking which we will never need to maintain (or at least for 15 years).

LonelyOversharer · 29/06/2020 17:24

Hey!
Thanks so much for the catch up's, much appreciated 💖
It's been a reasonable day at work, we are finishing 2 orders and then should be furloughed again, but I have a feeling we'll be staying at work. Which is totally fine, I'd much rather earn my money...

Spent just £4.10 today on posting some ebay stuff and some big hoop hula hoops to drive home with...

We had started decking the gap between the house and the patio (length of house, about 4' wide), I was buying 10 deck boards a month, but then ex stopped paying and all extras stopped...

Got a packet of Aussie stamps in the post, I bought them a month ago from ebay. So that was a nice surprise. I make thingys called needleminders with them, and am consequently hoarding stamps now. I suppose they take up less space than boxes (and boxes) of yarn.

northender · 29/06/2020 18:37

Quote for the new boiler with 7 year warranty so long as we have an annual service (not a payment plan) £1690. I thought it would be £2k plus so very happy with that. It's being put in on Friday. So glad to be in a position to replace it now while intact, rather than waiting for it to burst & flood (the fate of the last boiler 15 years ago).
Have been photo sorting today. It is a big project & may take a while. The dc are loving looking through pictures.

Unescorted · 29/06/2020 18:43

It has been miserable and rainy here all day too. Mrs grim grim grim.

life very natty. I am living in leggings now.

em the joy of getting them out of nappies! I keep forgetting there is a close gap between your 2. I assume every one has the 3 years like ours, because obviously you are all identikit to me... Grin

lonely it must be a relief that you are going back. I hope the orders keep rolling in for you.

I am cabbaged.... I have had a development centre thing today at work. Good for me but as enjoyable as having a tooth drilled. I just can't switch off now. I tried to get DH to go to the shop to get wine..... it isn't working.

Bornlazy · 29/06/2020 20:13

Grim weather here too. Like a winters day really. We have been painting MIL’s house getting it ready to sell and it’s hard work as everything is going white and taking multiple coats of paint 😫 It’s sad to think her house has never looked so good but she’s not here to see it.

Mrs I thought for a minute your dm had a bell she was summoning you with and I was outraged on your behalf 😜

Had a traumatic moment earlier when the cat left a half dead (young 😨) bird lying on the grass. I was debating what to do with it when a bloody magpie swooped down and stole it 😱

Dh is determined to build a new decking at our caravan this year. Might need to ask your advice Lonely as I recall you are very handy. Of course he will need to buy every tool know to man to facilitate this...

Nsd today

ememem84 · 29/06/2020 20:20

Ds has been dry all day! Peeing on toilet. No poop. But that’ll happen. Not even poop in his pants. How many days do we leave it? Today is day 1 so not too worried today.

lonely if I get some jersey stamps do you want me to send some across? Rare as I don’t get a huge amount of mail but I’ll do some saving for you if you like?

OP posts:
Unescorted · 29/06/2020 20:43

em I was thinking that - even the post we do get doesn't have stamps but those printed labels that don't have the same romance.

Keep an eye out for the poo face. Does he wear pull ups at night?

Born That was a lucky escape. I think I would have been traumatised if I had to leave it or kill it.

ememem84 · 29/06/2020 21:22

Oh yes. Pull ups at nighttime. We’re not that brave yet!!!!

I’ve told dh that if ds wakes up in the night he’s on poo duty.

NSD yesterday. Was well needed. Awful weather last 3 days.

Wolfcub · 30/06/2020 06:28

Pay day woo hoo paid myself first and cleared credit card (used for the purchase protection aspect and paid before any interest charged)

ememem84 · 30/06/2020 06:42

Awful weather here. I was going to go out for a run but raining. I’m very much a fair weather runner.

Catface is outside moaning how shes getting wet and wants in. But the door is open. She’s such a thicky.

SnugglySnerd · 30/06/2020 07:32

Yes hasn't it gone cold? I had to wear socks yesterday for the first time in ages!

I struggled to be productive yesterday. I think it's reached that point in the term! If things were normal we would be doing things like Year 6 induction day, end of term trips and concerts by now and it would be a lot of fun and everyone would be looking forward to the holidays. Teaching remotely just isn't the same. Going to tackle all my marking today, lots of exam questions. I quite like marking digitally now though. For one thing it's quicker because I don't have to hunt through exercise books to find the right piece of work and I don't notice 20 handouts that need to be glued in which slows me down! Also it's all spell-checked so there are generally fewer mistakes and I don't have to decipher hand writing or work out whose it is because they didn't put their name on. I'm hoping we'll be able to continue with digital submission of work from now on even when we go back.
