Um mrs how on earth did you spend just £14 in Costco??? I budget about £200 if we dare go! Hardly ever now! £14 doesn't even get us pizza & ice-cream (although close!) - fab frugaling, but how?!

Good news is I didn't poison us with sausages, my anxiety working overtime there.

Did the shopping today. It was a lot. Prices are creeping up for sure. £100 asda, about 1/4 of that was for my parents, and got some tea towels and boxes etc too. £25 in Lidl and £50 in tescos but I bought the monthly diet coke/Pepsi max/coke boxes. Accidentally bought fat coke for dd1 instead of zero - she's totally made up! Posted a little thingy to the States (3.66) and a £4 tray of eggs (30).

Went for a walk with my sister and nephews, got drenched in an epic rainstorm. Twas fun and the first time I've seen her in 4 months, so mustn't grumble!

I forget this place is less than a mile from my house.

NSD 2day but will be spending a bit soon have been on the bargain threads and got sucked in oops.

Sorry 2 hear ur having a tuff time wolf

Sounds like u had a luvly day mrs might be worth looking in amazon 4 the seat cushion.

Luvly pic lonely looks similar 2 a place near my dads.

I went out wiv my dm and step dad 2day. Went 2 a big open park 4 the boys 2 get out a bit. Mums staying over the night now 2 help wiv the boys a bit and give me a break. I’m hoping she’ll get up wiv them at 5:30 and I can have a lie in 4 the 1st time in 6 months!

SnugglySnerd · 11/07/2020 06:34

My lie-in day and I woke up at 6 and can't get back to sleep. I am instead sitting in bed enjoying a bit of peace and quiet and hoping that dh heard me get up and go to the loo so might bring me a cup of tea. If I go down to make one the dcs will see me and that'll be me up for the day!

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/07/2020 08:03

Text him sea.
Lovely viaduct. I never dared to join Costco but my nearest is miles away and we don't always bulk buy.

Shopping is a fortune at the minute. I need to get some bits Aldi didn't have today.

Wolfcub · 11/07/2020 08:06

My lie in day too except ds came to wake me up at 6.30. Amazing how he can't get out of bed on a school day until lunchtime but on a weekend it's before 6 to watch shite on tv

ememem84 · 11/07/2020 08:07

Ah the mother scolding because the washing isn’t done and the house isn’t spotless. Been there. Dm is a bit of a judgemental tart. A lovely one. But man the judgement.

Riding today £35.

Beaut sunny day here so Riding is going to be hot!

Might go beach later.

I have a friend whose mum would never criticise the pile of washing up/ironing etc but would just roll up her sleeves and do it for them. My mum thinks this is interfering. I think it is brilliant and that friend's mum is an excellent role model Grin

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 11/07/2020 10:11

I've have a friend who's mil does that snuggly and my friend absolutely hates it!! She finds it intrusive 🤷‍♀️ I don't think I'd mind but then I don't have rob anything anyway 🤣

We're plodding on here, dd still not great but we did have a good chat about it the other night. Will have to speak to a dr for advice though 😕

Have been spending too much money, think this is the first month I've been short since lockdown started!

Plan today is to do some uni work and walk the dog later, might go to the beach tomorrow...

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 11/07/2020 10:12

Oh God really should check posts before I post 'have rob' = iron!!

TheDuchessofDukeStreet · 11/07/2020 10:28

@Mrsmadevans, I echo, how just £14 in Costco? The lowest I have managed is £70 and we generally spend more.

ememem84 · 11/07/2020 10:51

@Mrsmadevans we don’t even have Costco here and even I’m amazed! That’s like going to Ikea and only coming out with what you went in for...!!

Dh has sulked because I’m not going to fils with him. Reason being riding is at 11. And he left the house at 1035. It’s a 10 minute walk to fils. A 10/15 min drive to the stables. So I’d literally have no time. also I didn’t want to go

The ex has played another blinder today, apparently I should feel free to send ds with a set of clothes to keep there. I appreciate it's tough being on benefits but surely he can afford a £1.80 tshirt from primark and a £3.50 pair of short. Do I honestly have to pay for absolutely fucking everything

xmummy2princesx · 11/07/2020 13:10

DM let me sleep in until 7! We’re going out 4 the day hoping 2 b a NSD but will most likely end up getting sum food out.

That’s so annoying wolf my dad was like that didn’t even have a toothbrush at his house. I’m on benefits but still manage to afford 2 give my kids clothes. He can get cheap second hand stuff from Facebook big bundles with everything DS Wud need at his.

Lovemaltesers · 11/07/2020 13:12

Maybe you need to send a packed lunch and toilet roll too wolf 😬 Seriously. You have the patience of a saint!

Oh fgs wolf is there any low he won't stoop to.

£30 on useful boxes and need to sort camping stuff, £10+ b&m on stones to finish garden, £30 Sainsbury's on non Aldi stuff £25 stables

SnugglySnerd · 11/07/2020 15:21

Oh that's ridiculous Wolf, if you did send clothes what do you bet he'd send them back to wash?!
Although I remember bitterly being forced to wear hideous frilly outfits purchased by my step mum when I was about 10 and was really a joggers and t shirt girl.

Productive day so far. Been out for a bike ride and picnic which was fun. This afternoon I have listed more stuff on Ebay as the first lot sold well then the dcs helped me with a lot of weeding while dh did some batch cooking. Just stopped for a snack then we are cracking open the polyfilla to sort out a couple of holes where we took a shelf down. Of course then it will need painting but the room looks a bit tired anyway so it might motivate us to get on with it!

LaneBoy · 11/07/2020 16:20

That’s shitty wolf, we always got a supply of clothes in for DSCs. They’d usually get mixed up with their other stuff depending on what they wanted to wear home but the point is we bought stuff because why wouldn’t we Confused

Petty git.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 11/07/2020 16:40

My friends ex was like that wolf it really winds me up, buying your kids clothes is basin parenting ffs.

We're just back from a nice walk, going to do a curry for tea.

LaneBoy · 11/07/2020 19:26

Since the subject comes up often on birthdays, I saw this and thought of the frugaleers

thetab.com/uk/leeds/2019/10/27/we-bought-a-colin-the-caterpillar-from-every-major-uk-supermarket-and-rated-them-on-aesthetic-taste-and-overall-vibe-49119

:o

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/07/2020 20:10

I saw Aldi had a caterpillar cake the other day. The face looked a bit wonky but it was only £5. may taste test it for a birthday. Anyone have a birthday coming up?

ememem84 · 11/07/2020 22:00

£18 on dinner. We got a chippy tea and sat on the beach. Ds was blown away by eating chips on the beach out of paper.

We played on the beach for a bit then went to the beach park. Tired babbooooos in the car. Got home and discovered dh had bought mint “Cornett os” from Iceland. So good.

Neither kiddo has had a bath. They’ve gone to bed all sandy toes and happy faces. But they’re in bed!!! Asleep!!!!

Lol Lane. Colin is king in this house, no imitations accepted!

I’m having to work as I have three papers to write by Monday midday. I am feeling rather sorry for myself but I have the top of the pops summary of 1985 to keep me company. Currently featuring the rise of the power ballad. I want to sing!

We’ve had a bit of drama with our holiday in Wales today. The air bnb host told me they may need to cancel, which was tricky for us because there’s not much accommodation left now. So we agreed that they would cancel now so I don’t have to pay the serving fee (which I would if I cancelled). I then found somewhere else, which took me hours of trawling, big relief. Then tonight they’ve messaged to say they’ve sorted themselves out and the first property is now fine again! So I have two bookings I can’t cancel without penalty ... so I hope they will stick to their word and cancel it. New place is actually better for us (4 bedrooms so we don’t have to have DD in with us, now mum is coming) but also £500 more expensive for 2 weeks. So I really don’t want a cancellation fee on the first one. Sigh.

I’ll try to catch up properly tomorrow or Monday evening.... hope everyone is well, I’ve been skim- reading but not retaining information Blush. Life is super busy right now and I’m really tired so brain function is not tip top.

Lovemaltesers · 12/07/2020 07:48

We almost had a Tesco caterpilllar cake yesterday life but DD1 choose something else. M&S’s connie the caterpillar was 😋 on DPs birthday. The Tesco one just didn’t look right.

In wedding news...
The dress I posted on here actually does do up, and it’s going to be the one! I still need to see how much the alterations will be, it needs a small amount taken up the length and I will ask them to check/secure the beading as a few bits are loose. If push came to shove, I could wear it as it is, but think it’ll be worth making it perfect! no more cake for me now

We’re also looking at getting married in 10 weeks time as provisionally booked the venue. Eek! Just need a registrar which I can hopefully do when they reopen bookings this week.
