Morning all, hope everyone's lovely weekends planned
Ds and eight bags o shite taken to exes
Stopped in to drop a present off with a friend and had a lovely socially distanced catch up
Need to hang the washing out and then crack on with interview prep
Might go for a garden beer with a friend later on

I'm going to shut the door on ds's room and pretend it isn't there because it is minging and he's refusing to tidy it. It's making the neat freak in me stress out

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 20/06/2020 11:21

Morning everyone, had a productive morning so far and cleaned out the fridge, it was pretty grim 🤢 really need to do that job more often!!

Going to Aldi in a bit as now I have a clean and empty fridge to fill!!

Finished rewatching Derry Girls last night, I love that show so much! It's also been quite useful for discussing with dd some of the political, social, religious issues etc in Ireland.

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/06/2020 11:40

Love Derry girls.
Shutting the door sounds like the best plan.
2 wash loads out, walk, gym class, range visit £20 and drop at pony club done.

Going to venture to town this afternoon as DS needs bigger t-shirts and DD hair stuff, also father's Day. And Sainsbury's stuff

ememem84 · 20/06/2020 14:09

Oh my god! Derry girls. Love it! Watched it while I was on mat leave. Made me almost pee laughing.

I’m still watching money heist. It is so good!!!!

Been riding today £32 and my fabric baskets arrived from amazon. They were bought to keep my shoes tidy in the wardrobe. But they are teeny. Apparently I should realise that 35cm isn’t that long....!! Have kept them though as was toying with storage for dds nappies. So that’s one problem solved.

Have ordered some more of them though in the xl size. These are big enough. And will sit nicely on the wardrobe floor and under the bed.

LaneBoy · 20/06/2020 14:15

I haven’t seen Derry girls. Is it ok for a 12yo then? I do want some funny stuff to watch with DD1, we are slowly getting through stranger things and have an anime lined up for after but something to laugh at would be good. I think she’d find some of Miranda funny but might be a bit mortified at the ruder bits 😂

I’ve been on more of a drama kick lately, sobbed at 13 reasons as usual and now on the new series of the Sinner. I might try After Life soon though as a friend recommended it

Wolfcub · 20/06/2020 14:28

Lane if she's mortified at Miranda rude bits she'd probably be mortified at Derry girls. I'm very very liberal about sex in programmes and bad language so I probably would watch it with J.

Lovemaltesers · 20/06/2020 14:33

Yesterday was spent returning various online purchases via the post office including DPs Fitbit that didn’t work (his birthday present). Replacement one is on the way, but it is now selling for £15 less today so I have ordered a new one and will send the replacement back.

Took the DC to Smyths today. We said they could have £10 from us and any extra from their piggy banks. DD1 is especially excited with her Harry Potter Lego (HP has been her discovery of lockdown).

My childminder is back working on Monday. I have to admit to being slightly gutted about this as wasn’t expecting it this term, but work has been paying us our full pay whilst doing school runs so can’t really justify not taking her up on it. Also, she needs to get back to work too.

ememem84 · 20/06/2020 15:16

Ozarks worth a watch lane if you haven’t already.

Just sorted another box for charity shop as needed to get two duvets under the bed. Pulled out a few bits whilst I was there and these have gone.

LaneBoy · 20/06/2020 15:17

Cool thanks. :o I’ll give it a watch myself first. I’m not sure how she’d be with Miranda yet, language isn’t an issue anymore tbh (she hears much worse at school 🤣) but she does cringe a bit at Rude Stuff bless her.

Still haven’t heard about our Tesco order from yesterday. Bah. We had one booked for Tuesday anyway (birthday things for DD1 the next day). So will likely need some faffing about with editing baskets again. They’re in town now getting bits including some cakes - her head of year said she can take a bit of party food in if it’s all individually wrapped and they can wipe down the outside on Monday and leave it until Wednesday afternoon. I thought it was pretty nice they offered to do all that just to give her a nice lockdown birthday! :)

Ooh thanks em I’ll add that to the list. Trying to watch lots of interesting things :o I’m reading a lot more lately as well. I need to get on with planning home ed stuff though so will try and do that today.

Oh God my dd has been watching Miranda for years, she got the box set for her 10th bday 😶🤣 she absolutely loves it. I honestly can't think of anything rude (other than some swearing) on Derry Girls, it's very funny and like I said opens up some useful conversations... we've started watching Schitts Creek on Netflix now, we're both loving it!

I don't mind dd watching romantic stuff or stuff with swearing, we both loved Stranger Things and there was a Nordic show which was similar. I would have an issue with anything really violent, she's not allowed to watch anything with an 18 rating I can't watch 18s either as I'm such a wimp

Very productive day, Aldi shop done £45 and actually shopped to a meal plan for once!

Today fish burgers and salad
Tomorrow roast dinner
Monday curry (with left over chicken)
Tuesday jacket spuds
Wednesday pesto pasta and salad

That's as far as I've got!

Have put a banana cake in the oven, cleaned the kitchen and done a couple of loads of washing.

Dd has been lovely and helpful today, she made omelettes for lunch, helped with cleaning and taken the dog out. Am sure it won't last but am enjoying while it does!!

SnugglySnerd · 20/06/2020 16:59

It sounds like everyone has been busy today! We have too, loads of jobs done. I am exhausted now!

LaneBoy · 20/06/2020 17:52

Thanks girlie :) zero judgment btw mine watch plenty of other stuff they most likely shouldn’t 😂 it’s only the cringe factor (especially watching with us) that is different for Miranda I think. But I’ll leave it up to her 😅

Four weeks left of term 😱

With ozark, there’s a bit of sex. And some gay sex too. Episode 3 season 1 I think (colleague watched it on a plane whilst sitting next to his mum....)

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/06/2020 18:27

I would think Derry girls will be fine for a 12 yr old. Lots of f word. My 12 year old DD didn't like it but she's a fuss arse.
Went for a walk to Barnard castle. £1.80 ice cream for DS. £60 in Sainsbury's but cards and clothes for DS in there.

Wolfcub · 20/06/2020 19:08

So ex has ds and some schoolwork today as ds has done nothing all week. They've had a difficult day, although it sounds mild compared to some of the carry on I have to deal with. Ex has messaged and said "I don't know how you get out of bed knowing that you're going to have this to deal with every day"

I responded because I don't have a choice. I resisted responding yes and I have to work and deal with this shit. Thought that was quite magnanimous of me really. Must be so hard not being able to be Disney dad for a whole day Hmm

northender · 20/06/2020 19:27

Did you test your eyes on the way there Life??!!

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/06/2020 19:37

I can report my eyesight is fine.

Well restrained wolf.

TheDuchessofDukeStreet · 20/06/2020 19:53

@lifelongfrugaleer, I love Barnard Castle! I grew up in Durham and my Mum still lives there so it’s lovely to visit when we’re able to go up. My partner will call it Bernard Castle, but he loves Maxwells and the teashops, antiques and ice creams. And Bowes of course.

We met up with my sister and went for a lovely woodland walk at Hatchlands NT. We took afternoon tea with us and picnicked in the shade. It’s been our first such outing since lockdown, and we needed it. I did a mammoth baking yesterday, gingerbread men and bears, cheese and fruit scones, so we’re able to do it all again tomorow at another place, Polsden Lacey. I’ve a busy week coming up, three regular shifts and two nights and going out does set you up for the week.

We have been a bit concerned that our flat is getting too hot for the cat, she’s a house cat and seems to conk out with the heat so my sister has generously lent us her air conditioning unit. We will make trial of this and economise in other ways. She does drink plenty from her fountain and cat milk so stays hydrated. The cat, that is.

Hope everybody is having a nice weekend.

SnugglySnerd · 20/06/2020 20:05

@northender

Did you test your eyes on the way there Life??!!
Grin

I agree ,Wolf, v restrained!

LaneBoy · 20/06/2020 20:27

:o at eye test

Wolf wow what a paragon of fatherhood huh? 🙄 Your self restraint deserves a treat for sure

OP posts:
lifelongfrugaleer · 20/06/2020 20:51

Maxwell's was closed, tea shops doing take aways but we didn't bother as took drinks. We walked round the woods as DS needed a wee Grin then back for home made curry.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 20/06/2020 21:38

I burnt through half a tank of petrol today taking DD to York to empty her uni flat and bring her things home. The consolation was that I filled up at costco for 98.7p a litre the other week, rather than the 117p a litre I saw on signs I passed today.
We got a KFC at services though, so not a NSD.

£171 for RAC cover the other day to have cover for today. Should get cashback but not for ages.

I'm also tempted by a new, £300 laptop for home so I can use my old one in my classroom when I go back, but holding off that temptation at the moment.

I have checked my bank and noticed a refund from a takeaway app for the cookies I'd added as a whim, then was offered for free when the whole order went astray and we waited an hour and a half for it!

ememem84 · 20/06/2020 22:20

Yaaaas! Completed all 3 rings on my Apple Watch. Wahooo the elusive active calories one has finally been defeated! Ha!! (Has to do laps of the garden to finish it...)

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 21/06/2020 09:19

Morning everyone, got my ddad coming over today to sit in the garden! Planning on doing some food and taking the dogs on a walk.

We keep Father's Day pretty low key here...
