Thank you unescorted!

Thank you life, I’m about 5 weeks pregnant so very early!

£10 spent on ginger beerBlush

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/06/2020 14:22

Oh so still right in the grotty feeling stage. Hope it's manageable

Mrsmadevans · 05/06/2020 15:47

Afternoon everyone Smile
Been to Aldi's to do some much needed stocking up on cat food biscuits (popadoms/bubble bath/pkt Mexican rice/crisps/bikkies/fruit/washing powder) which we use for the hedgies and the birds , we soak them first so they are soft not too hard on their teeth smile and it gives them some fluids too.£30 spend.
Cut some flowers from Mum's garden to take up to Bob's for her to cheer her up. She and him had a terrible row last night & she wanted to come home. The problem being Mum is so deaf she can't hear what he says and she misconstrues what he says to her and then she is cross and then she is nasty to him then he is cross it's like a hamster wheel. I went there today and all was well Hmm bloody typical !
Sea, it sounds as if you are utterly fed up to the back teeth. I think as soon as you can get your cleaner back then go for it asap! Also is there a little space you can claim as yours for some well needed calm. l am presently feeling exactly the same , all my own fault for not asking anyone to do anything to help because l was like a skivvy for my family whilst growing up . l never wanted my Dc to have to do anything because l rebelled totally against it and vowed they were not going to be bought up like l was , now it would be lovely for the Dc to help but they are totally immune . I have judged it badly . They are good kids just oblivious and l feel bad asking for anyhelp . It's all my own fault. Hmm

Mrsmadevans · 05/06/2020 15:49

Forgot the flowers , l put them in Bob's grate. The bush in the pic is where they came from.
Mum and Bob very happy after last night 😂😬🙄🤪

' l was like a skivvy for my family whilst growing up' just dawned on me l am still doing it Hmm

howlatthetrees · 05/06/2020 15:59

thank you life, I’m doing okay, DH has been helping out as much as possible. Just looking forward to the 2nd trimester!

Lovely pics mrs, I’m sorry to hear you’re feeling fed upFlowers

Mrsmadevans · 05/06/2020 16:19

Howl thank you !
Am just realising that my whole life l have spent being a skivvy to my whole family, it's a bit of a smack in the face tbh. Where have l been not to realise Hmm
That ginger beer will soon settle your morning sickness fingers crossed Flowers

ememem84 · 05/06/2020 16:27

howl salt and vinegar squares and red coke we’re my go tos for morning sickness both times.

howlatthetrees · 05/06/2020 17:16

mrs it’s so difficult to see when you’re in the situation though, don’t put yourself down because of it. Especially if you’ve been doing it for years, I was very similar, from a young age it was expected of me to care for DM (she wasn’t ill but believed the child should look after the parent), it wasn’t until I had my own DC that I realised how wrong it was and even now I still feel guilty when I don’t do exactly what she wantsFlowers

em I’ll have to try them, no sickness yet just nausea but I’ve never had it this bad before.

The weather went really sunny here for a while and it felt very autumnal, although it could be September and I wouldn’t know any different, I’m not 100% sure what month we’re on😂

Bornlazy · 05/06/2020 17:26

Mrs don’t be too hard on yourself. Your family seem to help out with your mum and Bob so you’ve obviously done something right 🌸
I swing between not minding running after my family to being totally resentful but then I only work part time so I have more time to do things than dh. Dh does do quite a lot to be fair but I always get the feeling he thinks he’s doing it “for me” and not just because that’s what he should be doing 🤔

Unescorted · 05/06/2020 18:03

Mrs It is difficult to judge how much to get them to do. I hate myself for thanking them for doing anything - all the time inside I am raging at myself because it is not a favour to me.... except it is because I would have to do it if they didn't even though it is not my mess. I am getting better at asking people to help out. Next phase is expecting it...…

Howl ginger tea was my go to, but I was one of the lucky ones who didn't really suffer from it either time (miraculously). So I am not the best person to give advice. I just hope yours is short lived.

sea I would love to see some of your pictures.

I have had a mixed day today - work was chilled and good but Dad was admitted to hospital- although he thinks he isn't on the COVID side. Normally we would be visiting him - but they aren't allowing visitors on the ward. Until he confirms we are temperature taking and checking our sense of smell.

Mrsmadevans · 05/06/2020 19:09

Unescorted l am so sorry sweetie.Such a worry for you . l so hope your Dad is ok bless him Flowers You take care of yourselves too Smile
Thank you for the solace over the skivvy role l have borne , it's my own fault. l always thank mine if they do stuff for me but you are right it isn't for me they are doing it is it , it's for everyone and they don't thank me for doing the bathroom or washing ! I am going to leave the washing machine/dishwasher load for them to empty while we are up Mum's & Bob's in the morning from now on Grin
Born yes you are right the Dc do help me with Bob and Mum and they never complain tbf .I get the feeling that they do things for US! I get that ! I think Unescorted hit the nail right on the head and so many of us feel like it here that we must be right , Mothers ruke OK ! lol Grin
Howl l have been talking to my Dh about this and he says it is just the way we are , he is the same , soft as a brush and very kind to my Mum & Bob, well he's kind to everyone tbh . Seems l have a lot to be thankful for underneath it all and l am, just it does get to us now and again lol Grin l HAVE CHEERED UP NO END you will be glad to hear . A trouble aired is a trouble halved . It's why we are here after all , help & support on tap and boy is it needed sometimes lol .
Thank you all , normal service can now resume, 'now where is my scrubbing brush & carbolic soap ? They are shouting for me again 'Cinders Cinders where are you !' Grin

ememem84 · 05/06/2020 20:15

howl from memory this isn’t your first baby rodeo so apologies if I sound like a know all! But my modwife when I had ds (now 2.5) said to treat the morning sickness nausea as though you were treating a hangover and go for your hangover foods.

She also said to eat often. And stay super hydrated. Easier said than done most of the time though.

ememem84 · 05/06/2020 20:15

£47.50 on a new tyre. Not as pricey as I’d imagined.

Wolfcub · 05/06/2020 20:30

Unescorted so sorry to hear your dad is unwell. It must be awful not being able to visit. Here if you need anything

howlatthetrees · 05/06/2020 20:45

unescorted thank you, ginger biscuits and tea and beer has helped me. Although I’ve found DH has drunk some of the ginger beer and I’m quite annoyed at him!. I hope your dad is okayFlowers

mrs I’m glad to hear that you’re feeling more positive!

em this is my 4th pregnancy but I’ve never felt like this before so I’m happily taking in all advice. So thank you!

DrMadelineMaxwell · 05/06/2020 21:28

£10 on food shopping, but it came out of the £20 my MIL owed me for shopping I've previously bought for her, not my bank.
Then £4 for anti nail biting solution from Amazon. It's a huge habit for me which I've tried for years and years to break. And the whole 'don't touch your face' thing is concentrating my thoughts on trying to stop this, especially before my school reopens to pupils in 3 weeks time.

Bornlazy · 05/06/2020 21:34

Sorry to hear about your dad Unescorted I hope he gets a negative result soon. It’s horrible not being able to visit. Can you face time him?

SnugglySnerd · 06/06/2020 07:27

Hi everyone, checking in. It's been a busy week with work.
We saw my mum for a walk yesterday. First time the dcs had seen her for 3 months! They were all so excited but actually kept a distance from her. They were super-sensible.

Howl I found eating plain biscuits like rich tea kept the nausea at bay. I also found I could eat food I just couldn't face cooking it so dh had to cook while I was in a other room and then just hand it to me. Both times around the nausea just stopped at 12 weeks so hopefully yours will too.

ememem84 · 06/06/2020 08:11

We went to dparents yesterday afternoon. First time in 10 weeks or so I’ve been in their house. Left the dc with them while I sorted my tyre out.

Dc had so much fun. It’s so nice we’re allowed to do that again (sort of) meet ups are not encouraged to be indoors but we’re encouraged to sort bubbles I think.

Dparents have said they’re not seeing anyone else other than us and dsis. So they’re happy to have the kids which will help us. On Monday I’m working from their house while they do childcare. Dh has a load of calls to make on Monday and Monday would usually be dparents day with the kids anyway.

Riding today. £32. Am excited. Haven’t been for 3 weeks now.

lifelongfrugaleer · 06/06/2020 09:36

£107 on food yesterday. Didn't get everything on list though. Aldi looked like a swarm had hit it.

Wolfcub · 06/06/2020 10:41

More good frugal news today looks like there's going to be a Lidl in town as well a as an Aldi. Yay.

Look at all my beautiful flowers. This is four lots, two of garden flowers from the farm shop some roses and irises from my parents and a bunch of bloom and wild flowers from dmil. Gorgeous

Beautiful

Unescorted · 06/06/2020 12:38

Thanks for the well wishes... they sent him home last night as the COVID test came back negative and it is safer for him to be out of the hospital. He has a catheter fitted so hopefully he can manage that until they get tests booked in to work out what is causing the issues.

wolf your flowers are beautiful. I might have to go out and purchase some.

I appear to have a born again housework hero. I went out on bike this morning to meet up with some friends and came back to a tidy house. They have worked out I am a lot more fun if I am not being grumpy about tidying their mess. I wish I knew what the secret is to the change in behaviour so I could share it with you Mrs.

First loaf & it's a success Grin
Probably not frugal as it took 3 bags of flour to get to this point but I'll get 4 loaves out of next bag so 83c per loaf Grin
