DH spent an absolute fortune on food shop

DH has done 2 food shop an online order then a fresh order. Spent over £500, all for ONE fricking day!!! We have 2DDs under 10. Not massive eaters.

A lot of the money has gone to booze!!! We are not massive drinker either. To me all seems just so wasteful.

Every year I get the girls new PJs for tonight. It's lovely, then he just said we haven't got them much for xmas. Wrap that up as a present!!

They have enough. There are not masses of presents under the tree. But they're the ones both girls have requested and would love!!! Stockings full of little bits. 3x presents something they want/ need / useful

Am I the only one gets annoyed for over spending and consumerism?????

Rant over .....🤣

How the hell do you spend £500 on a food shop ?!

FredaFrogspawn · 24/12/2019 19:34

Was the shop full of stuff that will keep, and be your treats for the next 3 months? That’s a lot of money!

Kittykat93 · 24/12/2019 19:35

Another one here wondering how you've managed to spend that much on food?? That's over a hundred quids worth of food each for one day! Absolutely ridiculous of your dh

notapizzaeater · 24/12/2019 19:36

£500 on food ? Eek, we eat very well but even I would struggle to spend that much.

SomeoneInTheLaaaaaounge · 24/12/2019 19:36

I would LOVE to know what he bought - that is nuts

Mintjulia · 24/12/2019 19:37

Blimey, that would feed us for three months.

I hope you’ve got a big freezer Smile

TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead · 24/12/2019 19:37

Hope it is all food that can get eaten?! Without going off?

ArabellaDoreenFig · 24/12/2019 19:41

Well this won’t help you OP but I reckon I could easily spend £500 on our Christmas food shopping if we could afford it !

TheClausSeason · 24/12/2019 19:41

Wow. Did he order online from somewhere ridiculously expensive?

RhymingRabbit3 · 24/12/2019 19:42

Wow £500 is massive! I think I would struggle to spend £500 even if I had an unlimited by budget.
Would any of it be returnable if not used? e g. An unopened bottle of spirit could be returned on boxing day if you have the receipt.

RandomMess · 24/12/2019 19:42
Shock
coconuttelegraph · 24/12/2019 19:43

I couldn't spend that however hard I tried and I have a house of teens who never stop eating. What did he buy?

MrsMozartMkII · 24/12/2019 19:45

Blinking heck. We blew £200 and that included two turkeys and full price crackers (I can't remember the last time I paid full price for those), and we'll be doing two Christmas lunches.

What the heck did he buy?

Bubblysqueak · 24/12/2019 19:46

That's a huge amount, I'm feeding 5 for Christmas day and 14 boxing day and have spent £150, that includes our normal weekly shop (which should last 2 weeks due to Christmas leftovers )

Verily1 · 24/12/2019 19:47

For a top end ie organic Sainsbury’s/ m&s/ Waitrose shop £500 will easily disappear- one year our turkey alone was £100.

A few spirits/ champagne/ liqueurs will be another £200.

Other meat- joints etc easily £100 if all organic.

Then £100 for groceries/ fresh if not a well stocked kitchen.

Plus I bet a lot of that was non food and treats/ stocking fillers/ homewares/ toiletries!

incognitomum · 24/12/2019 19:47

Another curious as to what he bought. We spent half that.

christma5 · 24/12/2019 19:48

I can understand how he's done it but I can imagine there's way too much for the 4 of you. Hopefully most keeps.

IHaveBrilloHair · 24/12/2019 19:50

£500Xmas Shock
I've just spent £140 but that's for our Christmas and New year with cleaning stuff/loo roll/cat food etc, and I thought I was being extravagant!

fitzbilly · 24/12/2019 19:51

Well the booze will keep so that doesn't really matter.

Your dds don't need more presents though, I agree with you there.

mrsbyers · 24/12/2019 19:52

Easily done if he’s restocked the spirits and bought a few bottles of wine and champagne - we aren’t even here for Christmas Day and have spent £200. Nothing in for supper tonight or breakfast in the morning either from that

DeRigueurMortis · 24/12/2019 19:56

How much for food for 4 of you!!!!Shock

I'm feeding 10 tomorrow and Boxing Day and I've spent just over £350 (out of that the beef for tomorrow was £75 and the Boxing Day ham £25).

I've not scrimped either.....starters, two choices of dessert, cheese....nice pre-dinner cocktails, wine, port etc....

chicken853 · 24/12/2019 19:57

To be fair OP, I've spent around £500 on the food and drink shop for me, DH and my family. It's shocking really😳

simplekindoflife · 24/12/2019 19:57

Our Christmas shop was £120 - and I thought that was excessive!! That's madness! Shock

ssd · 24/12/2019 19:59

And here's me feeling guilty for spending £64 in M&S yesterday my £5 yule log doesn't seem so bad now

HisBetterHalf · 24/12/2019 20:00
