Sorry your dd is having such a tough time still girlie it's so hard to see as a parent.

ememem84 · 27/10/2019 11:10

So far this morning Dh has watched the rugby (so much for no more rugby...) ds has trashes the living room and helped me make a cake. Dh is in the shower now. I’m feeding Dd and ds is running riot. Dh winds him up and then buggers off for a long hot shower at just the right moments.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 27/10/2019 12:27

Happy Birthday to your sisters sea, hope you all have a lovely day, and what a cute pic of your dd!

Yesterday was not a NSD.
Me and dd2 met my friend and her two dcs.
We did a few Halloween activities at the local shopping centre, then got some lunch, just from greggs, £3.60 and I took her dcs to watch the Addams family, that was £21, the kids got a juice and popcorn for that too.
My friend collected her dcs from me, me and dd2 then went to get her some bits for Halloween.
I spent £22 in primark on a dress for dd and some boots for me.
£8 something on McDonald's
£5 on face paint and stencils for dd2.

Then met my friend again with our dds and she paid for us to watch Maleficent, it was a good movie.
Actually it was a good day, but we were out all day and I was very tired as was dd2.

I've not managed to do much over the holiday because of my surgery, so it was nice for our dcs to see each other for more than an hour. It was a nice end to the half term

So today will be used to get ready for back to school and work tomorrow.

And it will be a NSD

LivingInLaputa · 27/10/2019 13:26

Cute pic sea!

Jeez girlie that’s awful about the refusing referrals over 5! WTF! 😡😡😡 TBH she could well be dyspraxic and autistic as they are common comorbids- DS has both. Would be totally worth chasing that if she can have an ed psych etc, because it’s classed as a learning disability I think, but don’t let anyone tell you it’s “instead of”. And it really sounds like it’s the social side she needs help and understanding with 😰

luckygreeneyes · 27/10/2019 16:58

£24 on fish and chips for dinner today.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend

ememem84 · 27/10/2019 17:32

Took ds to the stables this afternoon to see the ponies. He took one look at them and got excited “mummy!!!! Cows!! Mooooooo!!!” 🤦‍♀️ 😂😂

But my instructor let him sit on one of them. He’s a happy boy now.

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/10/2019 07:00

£90 Sainsbury's yesterday but that was mostly on clothes. £7 Wilko on gift wrap, £8 superdrug protein bars, £6 swimming,

Morning all! Just checking in from holiday 😊! I roughly calculated £200 spends Fri-Wed (getting to grips with realistic budgets is something I'm really trying to work on) and so far we've spent £5 parking, £50 lunch out on Saturday and £10 top up shop. We'll probably have lunch out again today but then find free/cheap things to do on Tues and Weds.

The last time we were on holiday in the summer we'd run out of money by mid-August so I'm pleased that we've achieved a change in mind-set and budgeting (but still having a few planned for treats along the way)

WreckTangled · 28/10/2019 08:14

We're going to the cinema this morning. £9.60 for the three of us on movies for juniors. Will take snacks and have forewarned that. Could go into the supermarket and buy a bag of popcorn but not sure I can be bothered really.

We have a giant mouse on the loose in the house too

Wolfcub · 28/10/2019 09:49

£7 yesterday on skatepark
£14 on KFC
£8.99 on a book which I've now read

ememem84 · 28/10/2019 10:47

Wolfcub · 28/10/2019 12:12

Well done Em

9.99 on another book Blush

ChristmasSeacow · 28/10/2019 13:49

Anything you’d recommend Wolf? Enjoy your time off with a good book!

Nsd yesterday but spent a lot in the run up. Still, my sisters were completely thrilled with their gifts and their cake. I was also glad I’d splashed out on helium balloons and put up a balloon birthday banner And fairy lights etc - it definitely felt like more than the usual lunch at my place! They were so pleased all round, it was a lovely warm and fuzzy day. The DC were very lovely and funny too (DS saw them leaving with the remains of the cake and tried to block their way - until we proved to him that we’d kept a big chunk for him too!).

Today I’ve spent £34 on wooden toys from Aldi online. Gutted that their wooden birthday cake is out of stock online though, as I don’t have a store handy to me. I’ve defo got too much for DD for Christmas, she’s so easy to buy for!

I’m actually hoping for a low spend November - I only have DH and DM left to buy for for Christmas, plus some odds and ends, and DBil’s birthday. But not too bad. Probably not going out much either.

ememem84 · 28/10/2019 13:56

--£109 in garden centre on Christmas decorations cat food calender and someone boozy chocs—

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/10/2019 14:37

Love that ds wouldn't let the cake go.
£32 on new sketchers for walking to work £10 swimming, 6 Tesco on lunch, £19 game but £15 on a gift card.

We're at our little Airbnb place in illfracombe, it's very nice and perfect for the night. We went to watersmeet today and did a nice walk, spent £9 on a cream tea and hot chocolate.

I nearly killed the car driving up a hill in lynmouth 😱 it was ridiculously steep and stalled in 2nd gear!! I had to do a hill start and my engine was literally smoking as were the tyres. Bear in my mind my car is an aygo so tiny!! It was quite stressful but it did get up the hill in the end.

Petrol was £36 and some chocolate for later £2.

Well done em 👏🏻

Sounds lovely seacow your sisters are lucky to have you.

WreckTangled · 28/10/2019 15:48

Went to the cinema and didn't spend any extra money also went into John Lewis to look at the Christmas decs. Quite pleased I didn't give in and get the dc a McDonald's. They didn't even as but were hungry as we didn't get home until 1:30. Dh gave me £10 for snacks too so could have afforded it but decided against it.

£1.50 posting my nieces birthday present.

Wolfcub · 28/10/2019 15:57

Sea I’m reading a lot of romantic crap at the mo so lots of Amanda Prowse, Jill Mansell, Katie Fforde. I’ve just downloaded the latest Jojo Moyes and the new Jack Reacher is out tomorrow if I finish that. Your sisters’ birthday tea sounds lovely.

£65 Lidl in not a lot, have just eaten my own body weight in baklava, not surprised the scales are not my friend at the moment

Might go to ye olde Viking capital tomorrow to hunt for ghosts

Taytocrisps · 28/10/2019 17:09

I'm having a lovely lazy bank holiday Monday. I collected DD from the school late last night. She had a really fun few days but she lost her purse (or may have been pickpocketed?) one of the days so she lost about €50. She brought me back a cute cuckoo clock fridge magnet from Germany.

She's off out again tonight. It's her friend's birthday so there's a group of them going to to a local scare attraction (they go every year). Then they're having a sleepover at the friend's house. The birthday girl's mammy is paying for the scare attraction.

I met MIL and FIL for lunch yesterday (my treat). The bill came to €86 and I left an €8 tip. It was nice to see them and we had a good chat. They filled me in on all the family news - they both have big families.

NSD so far but I need to pick up some eggs. I cba to cook dinner for one so I might finish off my lazy day with scrambled eggs on toast. I normally cook a proper dinner but I just want something quick and easy today. After that I might read for an hour and then watch some TV programmes I've recorded which DD would have no interest in.

Seacow that sounds like a lovely lunch for your sisters. I was laughing at DS's attempt to block them from leaving with the cake.

Girlie I had a similar experience driving up a hill recently. I took a wrong turn and was looking for a place to turn off or pull in. I didn't realize the road I'd taken was a really steep hill. The car was struggling massively even in second gear. I had visions of the car stalling and me rolling backwards into the car behind me. I was starting to get a bit panicky when I came to a viewing spot where I could pull in.

northender · 28/10/2019 18:22

Wolf I've just read Don't You Forget About Me by Mhairi McFarlane which I loved and judging by your list you might enjoy too.
Well done on not spending on snacks etc wreck
Sea sounds like the birthday went well. Love the idea of your ds blocking their escape with cake!
Girlie have a lovely evening. The hills around there are extreme, your poor car.

RoseyPeas · 28/10/2019 20:12

Hello, can I join you all?
Money is flowing out of my account like it's water. I have some big bills coming up - vet and dentist, so I'm really trying to cut down on all the little.spends - the ones that you barely notice at the time, but then wonder where all your money has gone at the end of the month.
It's very motivating to read that you all record spends daily, so I'm going to do that too.
So today I have spent £11 on Christmas cards and £68 on Tesco shopping.

ChristmasSeacow · 28/10/2019 22:12

Ha ha, DS was literally frantic about the cake! He’s very led by his stomach, that one...

Cinema twice in one day Curvy? So decadent!

Nowt wrong with a relaxing read Wolf. I go for crime myself but love a good story!

I finally bit the bullet and got someone round to quote for having our bathrooms done (full gutting of the en-suite shower and loo, and at least replacing the shower cubicle and retiling that + floor in the main bathroom). Waiting for the final costings but manageable. I liked the guy so I also talked to him about the kitchen and what we might want to do there (moving the downstairs loo and utility to knock through and increase the kitchen size, plus new kitchen). He recommended starting with a structural engineer to look at supporting walls etc, and recommended someone. Good advice I think, so we will probably go for it. I feel the spending might start in earnest soon... eek.

ChristmasSeacow · 28/10/2019 22:16

And welcome Rosey! Dentist can be so spendy...

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/10/2019 06:50

Welcome Rosey

Sounds good sea. Especially if you get good vibes from him

Nsd planned today except for £60 childcare/pony

I sat down last night to watch Wednesday's EWFL (the one with the students) and discovered I'd also recorded the episode with the diabetic couple. I've a sweet tooth myself but I was Shock Shock Shock at the sheer quantity of sweet things the diabetic couple were buying. i also couldn't believe how many cans they were drinking every day. They were a nice couple so I hope they can maintain the changes. The episode with the students was interesting because they had to cater for two special diets.

Spendy day today because I'm meeting a friend for coffee and also getting my hair cut and coloured.
