Asda has 25% off clothes. Not sure if anyone else has mentioned this

Wolf Thanks - sorry you're feeling lonely and down atm. We're all here for you to vent and chat. What are you up to today?

Sea thank you so much 🥰 - you describe a picture of your childhood that sounds very similar to my girls right now (mine are all girls and twins are identical too!), so I hope their formative and grown up years develop as wonderfully as yours and your sisters have. When you said you had a chance to get to know each of them individually rather than as a pair I had a bit of a lightbulb moment! I hope that happens organically but me and dh can also make sure we have 1:1 time with each dd which will then give the other two time together.

I had a lovely time at the party last night with my mum and eldest dd. It was great to spend 1:1 time with her and in a 'grown-up' setting that made her feel special. Late night though, wasn't back til after midnight as had to drive from another city. PJ day today 😊

Just caught up & posting from N York's. We're on our annual Oct half term break, near Whitby this year. There's 17 of us & it's as frugal as it can be as we get a huge Tesco order, meat from local butcher & only eat out once. I do most of the cooking so make sure nothing gets wasted. Weather isn't great today so not doing much. Ds has study to do so I will cook & read & relax I think.
Got DD period pants and a couple more reusable pads from Cheeky Wipes company. She is thrilled with them & the service was fab. Pants were £25 for 3 pairs & there was a £5 discount offer. Frugal and environmentally friendly.
Still no news of Thomas Cook refund.
Welcome plancina it sounds like you've got lots of sensible plans in place already & that dh is on board which makes such a difference.
Em glad you went to the party.
As always with EWFL I think why did it need them to be on a TV prog to make them change??
Wolf sorry to hear about your friends baby, it does put things in perspective.
Sorry posting from phone so can't check, think it was born with mil in hospital, it's hard when parents need more support, mine are starting to need it.
Have a good Sunday everyone.

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/10/2019 10:28

Oh you are near my stamping ground North. Whitby is where my family are from and we often go for the day. Have fun.

£1 on car park. £6 greggs breakfast

Pleased you went last night em. I would totally make DH get a taxi this morning.

Wolf. Totally here for you if you want a chat. It's tough for you at the minute. Happy birthday DS.

I fucked up yesterday and my anxiety is all over the place today. Gah.
Going to go and buy brown sugar and try a new braised cabbage recipe. Carry on sorting out. 2 bags to charity, 1 shredded paper, Christmas presents this far stashed away.

Dh has gone to breakfast with ds. He was going to take Dd but she’s sleeping. He’s forgotten fils present.

I’m trying to do some Sunday self care cleaning. As much as I hate doing it it clears my head and having a tidy clean house helps.

I was told twice last night (by dhs half sister and fils gf) that I’m not going to get any inheritance from Fil. I just said “ok” and moved away. The gf was a bit taken aback by this and asked if I’d heard her properly. I said yep. I don’t care about shit like that. But dhs family are all about inheritance.

I’d laugh if Fil hasn’t changed his will - when he was married to mil it all went to her....

Anyhoo. I’ve washed the bathroom down as dh managed to sick in the bath fucking gross and I couldn’t have a shower with it like that. I’d give him a bollocking but I’m going to step back from parenting today. That should be punishment enough...

On a positive note I wore these boots last night. They made me a good foot and a half taller than Fil and most of dhs family.

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/10/2019 11:07

Yeah em . You go girlfriend! Love the boots.

I should add I do feel sorry for dh. Whether I should or not is a different matter. He is hanging. He has this thing where he can’t say no to drinks because he’ll probably look boring. So he drinks way more than he can handle and ends up all pukey. His Half sister tried to get me to do shots last night.i was sensible and said no.

His family are all borderline alcoholics though. They can’t understand why someone would not drink at a function. Or on any day.

Anyway. Ds is on form today. Loud. Energetic. Perfect for a hungover dh.

I’ve done two loads of laundry. And have hoovered the floors upstairs. And the stairs. I’ve dumped all the clean laundry on our bed. And have put dds away. Ds’ has been sorted and needs putting away. Then to do ours. I’m defrostkng a spag Bol for dinner. And have emptied and started reloading the dishwasher.

Bathrooms need to be cleaned.

Girliefriendlikescake · 20/10/2019 14:05

Busy wend here as was out Fri night at a colleagues leaving do, was a nice meal but slightly annoying when the bill was split as I don't drink but put same amount in as people who had drunk a lot of wine Hmm anyway £25.

Yesterday spent day with my mum who was looking after my niece and nephew. We took the puppy out for a nice walk and in the evening I took dd and my nephew to the town carnival, kids loved it. Spent £8 ish on food (chips and popcorn)

Also went to pets at home Ystd spent £25 on food for the puppy.

Puppy has his first groom Ystd, was only £10 which my mum paid for. He looked very smart (for about 10 mins) and smelt amazing!

Home now and quiet afternoon.

Em your dhs family sound really odd, I don't know anyone who would think that's an okay thing to talk about (the inheritance) I always think it's a distasteful topic of conversation anyway. Plus surely inheritance is not guaranteed for anyone these days, what is your fil needed full time care for example?! Love the shoes.

Hope you're okay wolf I know exactly what you mean. Have you got a friend you can meet up with for a coffee to put the world to rights? That's what I do when I feel like that.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 20/10/2019 14:53

Happy Birthday to your ds wolf, hope you both have a great day together Flowers.

NSD yesterday and today.

em, glad you had an ok time at the party and well done on not getting sucked into fil's gf's pettiness.
Love the boots too.

Wolfcub · 20/10/2019 16:01

Em I would not have cleaned the bath except perhaps with dh’s suit! Grim

Spendy day buts good time had by ds, his friend and me £12 parking £16 drinks and sweets at the cinema £30 cinema tickets £60 lunch.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 20/10/2019 17:32

Born, hope you mil is ok?

Wolf, glad you all had a great time!

Having an old friend over to dinner today, we got all the ingredients in Lidl for £30, but there will be stuff leftover so will probably get at least two meals out of it plus have things like cheese left for lunches. Previously we would have gone out so I think this is a win!
I’ve been working at home today preparing for tomorrow and DP has been sorting stuff for the move.
Moving day is Friday, I have the day off work so we can get it all done in one day I hope.
My leaving party from my last job is on Thursday evening but it is at a former colleagues house so I don’t think it will cost me anything, I asked if I could bring something and they all said no as it’s my leaving do.
Worried my pay will be messed up as old job haven’t given me a P45 yet so HMRC may over tax on wages from new job. Fingers crossed they won’t.

Bornlazy · 20/10/2019 19:50

Thank you. MIL is improving she was very confused for a few days but is much better now thankfully. A big problem is that her hearing is terrible and the hearing aid she has isn't working, so need to get that fixed ASAP.

northender · 20/10/2019 21:00

Glad you & D's had a good day wolf happy birthday to him.
Plancina that sounds really sensible re entertaining rather than eating out.
Life I thought this was somewhere near you. The weather has been grim so far but Whitby is lovely.

lifelongfrugaleer · 21/10/2019 06:27

If you want any tips let me know North. Whitby is lovely when it's not too busy.

Final pay day of the year for me. No more pay day now until February. In theory I should get something in January but I’ll only be paid from 27th to the end of the month so I’ve asked for it to be lumped into febs pay.

Things to do (not necessarily today but before the end of the month):

  • buy cat flap
  • pension payment
  • pay for porch window and front door replacement
  • Christmas
CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 21/10/2019 15:05

Went out for the first time today, since my operation.
So spends
£21.65 on brunch and drinks for me, dd2 and ex, in a new local cafe, fab food.
£7.20 on fresh soup, rolls, paracetamol, jam and a couple of drinks in sainsbury's.
£27 on new trainers for dd2, her others were getting tight.

maddenlightfoot · 21/10/2019 16:25

Glad you got out and about curvy! I hope you get to enjoy some of your half term as well as recovering!

Thanks for the idea yesterday for playing schools sea - I dressed the littlies up in some old school uniform and big dd had a fab time bossing them around for an hour or so 😂! We also got them out separately and reaped the benefits of a calm dinner, movie and bedtime afterwards.

We're having a cupboard/fridge/freezer tapas week again this week (well, until Thursday as we're away from Friday) - tonight will feature sweet&sour chicken, pasta bolognaise, mackerel, crumpets and poached eggs!

NSD today and have money put aside for next week's hols. I really need to have a better reign on November as I did in September. I don't mind spending on planned stuff e.g. we have a swim/lunch day planned in Nov, it's more the unplanned - particularly Christmas! However I'm pretty sorted for Christmas now so can hold out any last minute bits until December.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 21/10/2019 16:38

Thanks madden, it wasn't too bad, just feeling very tired now.

Really lovely to hear that all your girls are getting on well.

lifelongfrugaleer · 21/10/2019 19:07

I know nothing but that sounds big to me. No wonder you were in pain. Will done on being out and about.
Pudding bowl bought and batteries £7.49

Glad you got out Curvy. Hope you are managing to look after yourself through your recovery with just you and the Dc at home - how old is your littlest again?

Madden I sincerely hope your DD1 had a register. With black and red pens for the appropriate marking up of attendance. That was by far the best bit. Whenever my DSises complained that they didn’t want to play school, I would say ‘well, you won’t want to go to real school every day so it’s good practice!’. I was ruthless. When they grew up and each got their PhDs I took at least 30% of the credit 😉

How are you doing today Wolf?

Wfh today. £110 to a handyman who cleaned out my conservatory gutters and fixed some broken guttering over the garage. And around £12 on night nurse, ibuprofen, bread and avocado. Office for the next 2 days, then off for Thursday and Friday, with both dcs. DH is out of Friday night so I’m doing bedtime on my own after two loooooong days (kids are not great cooped up but I can’t take them out solo). Fun!

My two showers are both leaking. Handy guy spoke to a tiler mate who said we can’t really just replace the grout as it’s highly likely we’ll break the tiles When taking out the old grout. So likely we’ll need to retile the entire of both bathrooms 🙄.

The shopping list of work we need doing to the house is ever growing. I need a properly frugal plan.

ememem84 · 21/10/2019 21:37

Nsd. Took leftover birthday cake to dparents today. Not done a huge amount. But have had both kiddos with me. All day. Alone apart from between 1030 and 1

We all survived. Ds refused to nap. Dd napped in bursts of 20 minutes.

Made my take on special fried rice for dinner. With prawns. Used up a load of veggies and popped fried eggs on top. Yuuum.

Have ds’ two year assessment thing tomorrow.

maddenlightfoot · 21/10/2019 21:47

A register and this... 😂

All the best for 2 year assessment em! Ooh hungry for egg fried rice now 😋

Friendly frugaleers as the leaves fall our bank balances will rise, hopefully!

Houses are never done are they @ChristmasSeacow. By the time we get everything done in our house, I'm sure it will be time to start on it all again.
Today was NSD.
