Oh and babies are like puppies. Just the same. 😉

Dh asked her how puppy was sleeping, whether it was sleeping through yet (as it’s the same age as ds was when he started sleeping through...!) and how was puppy feeding etc. I may have suggested he do this.

😂😂

Unescorted · 01/08/2019 19:11

Hahaha Em - they are just the same.

I Lap I missed your comeback earlier - perfect. I wish I had the wit to use it when I had little ones….

I am being officially idle - it is running night. I went out in the heatwave last week I am not going out in this. I will be washed away. I think I might blame the trains being cancelled & then the roads being closed. I did not work from home today at all... no not me

WreckTangled · 01/08/2019 19:26

They sound like a right pair em!

SnugglySnerd · 01/08/2019 19:29

She really does sound like hard work, Em.

Wreck you look amazing. Lovely dress.

Bought some school uniform today. Also croissants as a treat breakfast for tomorrow. I'd forgotten we were talking about them earlier today. That must be what gave the idea!

Taytocrisps · 01/08/2019 19:35

So, the Public Health Nurse never rang me back. I still don't know who is doing DD's dressing tomorrow. Plan is:-

(1) Phone PHN first thing in the morning and ask what's happening
(2) If no joy, phone hospital and explain that it's not possible to get dressing done here and we are bringing DD back to the hospital to get the dressing done there and to look for her runners

Unescorted · 01/08/2019 19:40

Tayto that sucks

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/08/2019 20:19

Classic em. Couldn't make it up.
I know how much you weigh wreck and that's a great figure.
Rubbish tayto.

More £££ today but mostly in food. Le yum

CurlsandCurves · 01/08/2019 21:01

Sounds like you and dh handled that visit absolutely brilliantly em 😆😆😆

So, my day. DS went into the garage and says mummy the freezer door is open and everything is soggy! Luckily I’d say there was no more than £40 of food in there but it was gutting to have to bag it all up and take it to the tip.its a really old freezer and I think DS didn’t shut it properly plus it’s like the ice age in there with loads of ice build up. I’m seeing it as a fresh start, it’s all defrosted ready to start afresh tomorrow.

DH got locked out of his sky email account, which made me think about saving money there. Got the email stuff sorted and saved us £34 a month on our bill, result!

And finally, I spent a bit of our Christmas money from the folks. New pillows and a new mattress topper. Can’t wait to go to bed!

WreckTangled · 01/08/2019 21:12

Tayto I can't believe they lost her trainers! Hope you get to speak to the nurse tomorrow what a shambles.

lifelongfrugaleer · 02/08/2019 07:33

Just been reading about the dam near you unescorted. Stay safe. And any others in the area

Wolfcubisthefemalenominal · 02/08/2019 07:56

Hoping for a minimal spend day today. If I can find the right handbag we will
Be taking our own popcorn and coffee to the cinema.

SnugglySnerd · 02/08/2019 08:27

The dam looks really scary. Hope frugaleers in that area are all safe today.

Wolfcubisthefemalenominal · 02/08/2019 08:57

Unescorted just read about the damn. Awful. Dry land available over here if you need an escape

Unescorted · 02/08/2019 09:14

Thanks peeps - I am in the next valley over so should be OK. More at risk from the rain forecast on Sunday.

I feel sorry for the people of WB, FV and NM - even if the dam doesn't burst they are being evacuated because to get the dam to a level that they can see what is going on they are pumping the water into the Goyt.
I have given up trying to get to work because the roads and rail are all closed / very busy. It seems as if every other sod is working from home too - so the internet is too slow for me to access my files - so I have given up and taken a day's holiday.

Lovemaltesers · 02/08/2019 09:37

Hope your DS appointment goes ok today north and your holiday starts well

Bornlazy · 02/08/2019 13:13

Dam looks scary. I hope they manage to stop it bursting. Being evacuated must be horrible and then waiting to see what the damage is going to be.

I have frugally contacted Amazon about an Xbox controller that I bought ds1 for Christmas that isn’t working properly now and they are willing to refund it. I had read online that Microsoft warranty is only 90 days so wasn’t going to bother. It was £50 so I’m glad I made the effort.

I really need a new mattress as the one we have at the moment was just a cheap memory foam and I wake up with a sore back. When we first bought it I loved it and was springing out of bed pain free every day. I don’t know whether to buy another cheap one and accept the fact that it won’t last more than a couple of years or buy a more expensive one 🤔 Some of them are so expensive 😮

Hope everyone is having a lovely holiday. I’m all holidayed out as was away twice. Back to normality now and need to start putting money away for Christmas 😫

Taytocrisps · 02/08/2019 15:48

Home from the hospital now. I got talking to the Public Health Nurse and she told me that she couldn't do the dressing unless (1) DD is a medical card holder (she's not) and (2) the hospital had supplied a fresh dressing and instructions re: same (they didn't). So I rang the hospital again who suggested I try the Public Health Nurse ........ Angry. When I explained that the PHN wasn't an option, they told me to bring DD in to A&E and they'd dress it there. Honestly, you've no idea how appalling the health service is here. And the worst bit is, we're paying for it! We also enquired about the runners and they've been officially declared missing, so Ex is going to pursue that and see if we can get some compensation.

Spends so far €20 on slider shoes for DD so she can put them on over the bandage. And something like €5 for coffee and scones at the hospital as we were waiting around a while and were starving when we'd finished.

I saw something on the Channel 4 news about that dam. Fingers crossed it doesn't collapse. I agree, it must be awful to be evacuated.

Born good news about the Xbox controller. And your Sky savings Curls

CurlsandCurves · 02/08/2019 16:09

Aw Tayto that’s rubbish! Sounds like a right nightmare. Hope you get something back from it for her runners.

Freezer all up and running again, but going to wait until tomorrow before I put anything in it. Well, it’s got my freezer blocks in that we use in cooler bags for picnics. We only have one cooler bag, but for some reason we have about a dozen freezer blocks...🙈

£31 on a top up shop.

Oh and £3 on 2 dozen eggs from a farm shop, thanks to my mum.

Bornlazy · 02/08/2019 17:51

£61.69 in Lidl. I need to get back into the meal planning as I’ve totally fallen off that wagon. Plus my dc seem to have got really fussy and there is barely a meal that they both will eat 😬 I need some inspiration to try new things.

Tayto that’s terrible re your dds toe. I hate being passed from pillar to post - gives me the rage. I hope you get something back for her shoes too. The NHS is far from perfect but it seems to be better than some systems.

ememem84 · 02/08/2019 19:04

Toon our first outing as a family of 4 today. Dd’s First trip to the pub. She’s only 4 days old. Ds was 8 days when we took him.

£32 for lunch for three. Plus a beer and a glass of rosé (both for ds....!).

We only went to the pub down the road. But it was nice to be out.

ememem84 · 02/08/2019 19:05

born if you can afford it I’d go for a more expensive mattress. Sleep and rest are important.

We’re saving for a tempur mattress. Probably next year once I’m back at work though. Those things are pricey.

Wolfcubisthefemalenominal · 02/08/2019 19:15

I’m going to say step away from the memory foam - pocket sprung every time.

OP posts:
SnugglySnerd · 02/08/2019 20:10

I don't like memory foam much. It's comfy but so so hot to lie on. I agree with Em though, get the best mattress you can afford. It's worth investing in good sleep and looking after your back (from the person who often ends up sleeping on a cot bed mattress on the floor in the dts' room!)

Tayto thatbdoes indeed sound rubbish. Hope you get some sort of compensation for the trainers.

Dh had the day off today. He took the dcs out for a few hours. I sat on the bed with a cup of tea and listened to some music. It was lovely. He returned home with chocolates which was even better and we ate them in the garden with the bubble machine on and the dcs catching bubbles and giggling like mad. Lovely afternoon.

Bornlazy · 02/08/2019 20:42

Thanks for advice that’s lots to think about regarding mattresses 🤔 I don’t want to make an expensive mistake so will need to visit some real shops to have a look.

Spurred on by my controller success I have emailed John Lewis about ds2’s broken bed. It is a divan and the base has cracked, which I was attributing to his clumsy ways, but having looked at my order it is supposed to come with a seven year guarantee and I only bought it in January. Fingers crossed I get a good result.

Well done on getting out em Never to early for a pub visit 😀

Snuggly hopefully today will have recharged your batteries, sounds like a lovely day.

Unescorted · 03/08/2019 06:37

Em - good effort. I was only just out of bed at 4 days. Out the house took longer.

Snuggly - sounds like a fab day.

I can't advise on mattresses because I am one of those really annoying people who can (and does) sleep anywhere. DH prefers the sprung ones.

£30 in Aldi yesterday because a friend invited himself, girl he tries to impress and borrowed dog to ours for dinner. Except he texted to say they had changed their minds... I was off work and did not look at my mobile until I was wondering where they had got to. I even spent the whole of yesterday tidying & cleaning up. Very dot annoyed. It does mean that DD & I have a clean house for the whole of the summer. So maybe it is a bit of a blessing.
