Tayto that sounds so stressful. I hope you get some compensation for the shoes. They can't have just disappeared Angry

Em sounds perfect. It's a good idea not to walk too much with stitches in anyway. I know you don't have an Aldi but I had a lovely orange gin from there the other day and thought you would love it.

Unescorted that's really annoying but I agree it's nice now that the house is all clean.

Goodwood racing today. We allow £5 bet per race so have £30 to take. Everything else paid for.

Wolfcubisthefemalenominal · 03/08/2019 08:33

Ds has contact today.

I am having my brows and lashes done should be £15 as I’ve already paid £10 deposit
A friend told me last night that there’s a rumour amongst senior management that my tca post won’t be around much longer which is bloody devastating from a money POV - will see what happens but it’s not what I need. Time to start active job hunting. I need a promotion again - divorce should not be the driving factor in a career Angry

Oh that sounds tough @Wolfcubisthefemalenominal,
Although if it's anything like my place of work, listening to or worrying about rumors would drive you mad, to no good effect, as they are wrong as often as they are right.
Enjoying a nice relaxed breakfast on my first morning of ten days annual leave.

lifelongfrugaleer · 03/08/2019 08:57

Oh no wolf. That's shit. Hate the rumour mill.
£5 footy, £25 pony, ££ shopping add I have a long list

Unescorted · 03/08/2019 12:03

Wolf that is shit - but it is a rumour. We hear a different story each day and most come to nothing.

Wreck - not all clean but much better. I still have DS's room and DH's side of our room. It is much better though.

In the clearing up I have found a bag of unwanted and unworn boys (11-12) M&S boxer shorts. And a Men's navy medium polo shirt (Country Road) - also unworn. If these are good to you pm me & I will send them along.

Girliefriendlikescake · 03/08/2019 12:20

We're back from holiday, had a fab time! Not sure who asked but we stayed near Mevagissey which isn't far from St Austell. I really liked it and the kids absolutely loved it! My friends husband took the girls out on a kayak and explored the coast, they found secret beaches, crystal clear seas, loads of wildlife - idyllic 😊

In total the holiday cost about £300 for 4 nights that includes accommodation, travel cost and spending money. We ate out once and bbq'd the other nights. I went with friends and their daughter who is about the same age as dd, they get on really well and enjoy all the same things so it works really well.

Dd currently looks like an Australian, tall, blonde and very tanned! She has the skin type that goes brown really easily even with suncream on all the time!

Home now and up to my eyeballs in washing, 4th load on! The weather is dry and warm so should get it all dried outside. We're off to a local flower show this afternoon which I'm looking forward to.

Impressed you're out and about already em, agree with the others about doing what's right for you re feeding. I mix fed dd pretty much from day one which for me gave the best of both worlds.

Wolf that sounds stressful re your job but yes rumours are often just Chinese whispers ime, the truth gets lost pretty early on!

lifelongfrugaleer · 03/08/2019 12:27

Think London cost £1200 all in. Had vouchers but I was not overly careful. Pleased with that though it would be more.

Eleventh million wash load here. Have switched tumble dryer on for some though as away again next week and need to get it turned around.
£55 Aldi, £23 Iceland. Sainsbury's tomorrow.
Bag dropped to Church uniform shop, 2 others to chazza.

ememem84 · 03/08/2019 12:35

wolf so stressful and probably not what you needed right now huh?

Have told dh I need to rest more because yesterday’s walk to the pub (albeit only 10 minutes each way) really took it out of me.

One load of laundry out on the line. Another in the wash. One more queues up to go in.

Dd and I are staying in today. Waiting for midwives to come and do her heel prick test thingy. So far they aren’t here. It’s annoying because they don’t give you a time. Just say they’re coming on x day.

But to be fair I didn’t want to go out anyway.

I’ve relayed to dh the messages about stitches. And resting. He is being a bit funny really. Whoever said he would change once Dd arrives was right.

He was doing the night feeds. Then got stressed with me the night before last because Ds woke up and then he couldn’t settle Dd.

He had about 3 hours sleep. The. Yesterday when I dared to suggest I have a nap after our lunch he huffed and said that he’d only had 3 hours sleep so he was planning on napping.

I figured ok. Whatever. And said I’d take both littlies out to see my parents for a bit. The minute I said this dh wanted to come too.

When we got home he started mouthing off at me for not letting him rest. you had the opportunity you should have taken it

This morning he’s said similar - going for a lie down. Fair enough.

I was pottering about upstairs. Emptied bins in bathroom and he said he was going to change spare room bedding this evening. I said ok.

Then 10 minutes later huffing and puffing ensued because apparently my saying “ok” to doing the bedding later suggested that j wasn’t happy with him resting and he should be getting on with chores now.

Aaaaaaaaah

Wolfcubisthefemalenominal · 03/08/2019 14:17

Lashes look fabulous £20 today as I’d already paid deposit plus it was the best part of an hour just lying being quiet which is frankly priceless

Em what a knob head. Seriously massive cockwomble

Girlie that sounds like and excellent and bargainous holiday

Life that’s quite reasonable for four in the city for a week I think

OP posts:
SnugglySnerd · 03/08/2019 15:01

It sounds like he's not dealing very well with tiredness, Em. Dh can sometimes act a bit like he's the only one affected by lack of sleep too.

Sounds like you had a great holiday, Girlie.

Happierwithouthim · 03/08/2019 16:42

Just going to jump in with today's spends and catch up later

€66 approx Dunnes Stores
€48 on fuel card & collected my free treat of bottle of water & bag Manhattan popcorn Grin
€4.60 on scrub daddy sponge
€1.60 on newspaper
€6.50 bulb for my car

Bornlazy · 03/08/2019 16:55

Wow Girlie that sounds like a great holiday for a fantastic price. Well done for keeping it frugal.

Life sounds like you did well on the London trip too.

em I hope you find a routine soon that works for you. Is dh off for two weeks to help you? I hate the way men find the need to run every domestic chore past us as if seeking permission/approval. I am assuming that he was changing the bed he has been sleeping in so why not just get on and do it?? And don't get me started on the I've done this that or the other for you.... dh frequently tells me that he has taken the washing in or put the shopping away for ME as if he doesn't live in the house with us Angry

Hoping for NSD today the first in a while.

Lovemaltesers · 03/08/2019 18:14

DP and I are now off work until after the August bank holiday. One week to go until we go away.

You sound like you are coping amazingly well em. Your DH not quite so. Nothing quite like the sleep deprivation of the early weeks.

Sorry to hear about the job uncertainty wolf. Hopefully just a rumour.

Glad you got your downtime snuggly

Spendy week...
£380 for boiler repair
£670 for our park tickets for holiday
£180 in ikea on 2x desks and a book case
£40 various clothes/holiday spends
£43 airport parking
£38 travel insurance

We still have to pay for our airport transfers too which will be €125ish. Food whilst we are away is going to be €€€€€€. I’ve been warning the DDs we won’t be buying much tat although I think PIL may give them some euros each. We’ve bought t shirts and minnie mouse headbands so we don’t have to pay Disney prices

Next week needs to be frugal and the rest of August too after our holiday. We need to look into broadband and breakdown cover this month as they are due for renewal.

Unescorted · 03/08/2019 18:16

Born I hate that too.... as if I should be grateful he has washed his own clothes, or managed to empty the dishwasher that I filled with plates and pans I used for cooking dinner which he ate

Thankfully the rain has held off here all day so far. Washing done and dam still holding.

Wolfcubisthefemalenominal · 03/08/2019 18:22

The rain is this side Unescorted, my washing is wetter than when it put out but I’m grateful for the people of WB staying dry!

WreckTangled · 03/08/2019 19:30

Just want to also point out that I don't actually smoke Grin

lifelongfrugaleer · 03/08/2019 19:41

O will save my calories for one of them wolf.
Wreck Grin

SnugglySnerd · 03/08/2019 19:55

Well done, Wreck. I have to ask about the ciggies though - how did you come to end up with them?

WreckTangled · 03/08/2019 20:15

Well I do like a cigarette when I've had a few drinks Grin it's been over a year since my last one but I got carried away! Dh found £10 in his suit pocket ?he hasn't worn it for over a year) so bought some with that!

SnugglySnerd · 03/08/2019 21:05

Ah ok! I packed up years ago. Still occasionally fancy one especially with a drink but I reckon I'd throw up!

CurlsandCurves · 03/08/2019 21:07

Well done on the win wreck !

lovemalteasers there’s always something isn’t there? I know how you feel.

I’m utterly shattered. We’ve ripped out our en-suite today. Right back to the bare brick. And every wall and the floor was tiled with great big heavy tiles. My hands are sore from carrying bucket after bucket downstairs, plus great big bits of tiling, plasterboard, etc. Up and down the stairs like a blummin yo-yo. Knackered.

Wolfcubisthefemalenominal · 04/08/2019 08:03

Seriously when does the teenage sleep kick in. Why can’t ds just have a sodding lie in instead of blasting tv through the floor at 7am 😭.

Today I need to pack for his camp, he wants to take me out for ice cream and I need to wash some work stuff if it can stay dry for long enough to dry it all

OP posts:
Unescorted · 04/08/2019 08:09

Today is a day of simple pleasures.

I am washing my sheets - if the forecasts are right then I will have clean line dried sheets tonight.
I am having a cup of coffee made from the newly roasted beans (31st July) that I just opened. The crème was perfect, the coffee dropped into the cup like a plump figs.
I will have breakfast later when dd gets up
I am starting a new journal - having filled the old one. I love it when it hits a weekend so I can put some thought into it.
Later I will pop out to a mate's party.
