DH is making a hell of a noise taking the bed apart.

maddenlightfoot · 12/06/2019 20:58

I haven't watched it yet!! (Looking at you dh - who doesn't like EWFL??!) and now I HAVE to know what this kitchen/spice cupboard is all about 😬!

DH returned my dress today... so much more satisfying for the money to be back in our account.

ememem84 · 12/06/2019 21:02

The thing I don’t get re EWFL is that they shop at a million different shops to get the best savings.

I suppose with online shopping you could do this but in reality who has the time?!

ememem84 · 12/06/2019 21:09

Dh has been a moron. He went supermarket shopping earlier.

He managed somehow to shut his arm in the boot. Bloody idiot. It’s ok. He managed to drive home from the shop. And it looks bruised. But can’t believe he did that. Apparently he put the bags in the boot, on top of ds’ pram. This pushed the parcel shelf up. Dh held the parcel shelf down and then shut the boot without removing his arm. #tard

Now watching diysos. Ffs. Sob fest

Girliefriendlikescake · 12/06/2019 21:58

I'm feeling a million times happier minus my tooth, you can not put a price on being pain free!! My mouth still feels a bit weird but so much better than yesterday.

What is High Seas about em? I could do with something to binge watch on Netflix, I watched After Life today which was good.

ememem84 · 12/06/2019 22:09

High seas is a thing about a Spanish cruise ship. It isall in Spanish but you can change the audio and subtitles. It’s a whodunnit.

northender · 13/06/2019 00:08

EWFL struck me as a family with more money than sense, but they did embrace the changes. I just didn't get how they couldn't see what they were doing & needed the cheeky chappie green grocers to tell them.

Glad the tooth is out & the pain has gone Girlie
Dh & dd did a top up shop tonight £21. No other spends.

Morning all.

Feeling rested here but still full of cold.

Going into work though today as a) things to do b) seminar to go to and c) 4 weeks left and d) I want to book the remainder of my holiday

Should be nsd though as seminar provides lunch.

£63 left in account to last a week until payday.

Have logged onto fb this morning and the bashing of ds’ nursery is continuing. Apparently staff threatened to murder a commenters friends child there, they don’t pay their staff, the staff are all unqualified, the staff beat the children etc.

The owner has jumped into the discussion and has threatened legal action re the allegations.

I love a good “slate your local business” Facebook group. Since I posted on the thread I’ve had private messages telling me I’m an unfit parent for sending ds there, that I obviously don’t love him enough and suggesting that the sender of the message is going to report me to social services for neglecting for ds by sending him there. Fun times!!!

lifelongfrugaleer · 13/06/2019 08:04

What a bunch of cranks em.

Happierwithouthim · 13/06/2019 08:39

Total spends yesterday €2.90 on a fulfil bar
Dd's thank you cards came and they're amazing, really thrilled with them. She said what about df's gf? I said I got one for her too, she was so happy about that and I could see that she didn't want me to feel awkward. It's weird to see dd being so considerate about another woman but hey that's the way it is now.

em your dh must have felt mighty stupid after that
girlie Dead to me is a good series on Netflix that I'm currently watching

Wolfcubisthefemalenominal · 13/06/2019 18:14

Em they sound like absolute loons

Super long London day again I am soooo tired. Most spends are reclaimable.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 13/06/2019 19:28

NSD

em, I hope your dh's arm is ok and that he manage to do the bed!

Girlie I second Happier's recommendation of Dead to Me, I've watched all of it and it was really good.

Girliefriendlikescake · 13/06/2019 20:15

Thanks for the recommendations ladies will def check them out!

Em people are insane, don't let them get to you! Is it one disgruntled parent who set them all off? 😒

I've had an okay day, dd had a riding lesson today after work which was eventful as one of the ponies went a bit mad and charged around out of control eventually the poor girl fell off. I felt sick watching it, the girl (who was only 12) hurt her leg and her mum came to take her to a&e. Was a stark reminder that horses can be unpredictable buggers.

Have just heard the next pm is going to be either boris, gove or hunt??! Ffs, this country is doomed.

Spent £22 on dds riding lesson
£4 on a subway tea for dd as couldn't be bothered to cook!
£4 on yellow label food in the co op, got lots for that.

I've also chased hsbc re them short changing me last week, they said they'll look into it. I had a scam text today telling me to ring some dodgy number re a large transaction in my account 🙄 scammers are shameless.

ememem84 · 13/06/2019 20:18

New bed is in. It is glorious. Need to make it though.

Dhs arm is fine. Bit bruised but fine.

Our garden officially works. For dinner tonight we’ve had Chinese 5 spice garlic chicken stir fried with veggies and brown rice. I used courgette coriander and silver beet from the garden. We also have 2 red strawberries. I had one. I asked ds to take one for dh. He took it right over to dh then popped it in his mouth. Cheeky!!

Dh’s Gin boxes arrived. He opened one. Saw it was addressed to him and wondered what he’d ordered 🤦‍♀️

It’s awesome though. £40 every 2 month and it includes: gin (big bottle), kettle chips (beetroot chips with goats cheese and onion flavour Ick), two tonics, a cider, a soft drink some chocolate and garnishes for the gin. When you consider the gin alone would cost around £30 it’s good value. Dh will get a box every 2 months for the next year.

Also. Because it got lost in the post I emailed the co and they sent another one free of charge. So I have two.

Also nsd. Wooo.

maddenlightfoot · 13/06/2019 20:18

Spent about a fiver this morning on treats for a course I'm running and the same for tomorrow. I can claim it back but don't think I've claimed a single thing back in the four years I've been at this school - I know I should but I just never get round to it (frugal hand slap!!)

Em I'm intrigued about how the FB/nursery thing is going? Are there others that support your view? I've seen nursery bashing threads on our local FB page and the negativity often boils down to an annoyance about costs/hours etc. People seem to think they can make increasingly elaborate demands as they're paying for the service (which obviously they have every right to). Just seems a shame that people don't get as irate about schools, which are often considered 'free childcare'.

ememem84 · 13/06/2019 20:27

girlie it started that someone posted that they’d sent their kid there for 3 days and then withdrew them and were charged £2000. They didn’t give the requisite notice period (2 months per the contract they would have signed and should have read) and per the contract Nursery is allowed to request the fees.

It’s then escalated from a “waaaa poor me bad Nursery is doing this” to other people jumping in and saying they had the same issues, that staff threatened to murder their kids, that paedos can watch the kids and steal them, that none of the staff are qualified, etc etc.

The nursery have said they will be starting legal proceedings against the person who has made allegations to the murder threats, those who have made up slanderous and libellous allegations, etc. The language which has been used is appalling.

It is entertaining (but also bad) and I feel for the staff who are getting a lot of abuse via Facebook.

There’s a campaign to shut nursery down and “fuck the staff they’re all inbred and unqualified and don’t deserve to work with kids”

The owner has responded and has explained that the original poster essentially wanted them to break their health and safety policies and treat their kid like a special snowflake.

Rightwayup · 14/06/2019 03:29

Em people think they can say anything on line and that it will have no consequences so good on the owner. Girlie if it's Boris then I am staying here and here is now a nice hotel a little off the silk road where I have been trekking for the last week. Very frugal as generally nowhere to spend money and then when I got into a town yesterday an Ice cream and a coke cost me for both 75p and they probably think they are tipping off the tourists

ememem84 · 14/06/2019 06:12

right it’s just madness which I can’t stop myself from reading I do tho k the owner could have maybe worded the reply a bit better and maybe not said that the original posters child was the “worst behaved they’d ever seen”

People are suggesting it’s a breach of gdpr because it’s personal information. Albeit they haven’t given out the child’s name it was a direct response to the posters email and the poster wouldn’t comment any further.

Ironically I had a training session yesterday which focussed on social media. One of the lawyers giving the training reminded us that online posts (Facebook messenger WhatsApp etc) can be used as evidence in court. Some of the posters have said it’s not slander because it’s on Facebook not written down....

Anyway. It’ll all die down at some point.

Nsd planned today. I need to make a dr appointment for next week and have a load of stuff to get done today. Have 3.5 days annual leave to use up so need to get those in at some point in the next 4 weeks.

lifelongfrugaleer · 14/06/2019 06:22

My heating has just come on. It's June FFS. Some spends in town today for father's Day. Food shop at some point this weekend. Might see if I can stretch it to Tuesday.

lifelongfrugaleer · 14/06/2019 06:23

It's on Facebook and not written down. Oh dear, some people have no idea. Poor nursery staff

Happierwithouthim · 14/06/2019 09:14

Dh's gin subscription sounds fabulous em #goodwifebrowniepoints #bonusifyougettosharethegift Grin

Spends yesterday
€1.65 on vanilla protein milk for dd
€2.50 each for pocket money
€26.50 Tesco €15.17 was on gifts for their father
€20 on trainers for dd, she fell in love with my ones which have leopard print strip on the sides, so she's got size 4 Shock with size adjusters in them #wheresmybabygirlgone
€39 on waxing

Had a meeting with dd's teacher and she no longer needs to go for learning support, the effort she's put in with reading at home and working at school means that she can carry on as normal now. I didn't think she was in need of it really in the first place but said take it while it's been offered.

ememem84 · 14/06/2019 13:14

I lied about the nsd.

£58 warehouse and £92 oasis (all sale items half price of less) T-shirt’s and tops and shorts.

Wolfcubisthefemalenominal · 14/06/2019 13:24

£83 Sainsbury’s but included Father’s Day presents for df and h and a preset for a friend so that was about half of it and the rest mostly bread and veg

Exhausting Pilates class earlier and I’m very behind on my cleaning having worked half of my off day for two weeks in a row (I think I’ve done 45 hours in four days this week). I am trying to clean between bouts of sitting in a heap.

Thatsnotmybaby · 14/06/2019 13:31

Spends yesterday:
£3 lunch
£1 parking
£1 mints to get change for parking meter.

Spends today:
£6 lunch
£28 waxing
£36 shoes for DD, that is for five pairs though, and I will only keep one, I just didn't have time to do anything other than grab a few pairs, will decide on which ones later, so should end up in a spend of about £8. They are all so sweet but I think I will keep the super cute and trendy white trainers.

Have a couple of weeks holidays coming up and I am determined to get back into bringing lunch to work after that, going out to buy lunch is such a waste of both money and time, and generally what I buy isn't near as healthy as what I would make at home.

@Lovemaltesers I'm very late replying to your musings on holidays but my suggestion would be inland in the south of Spain, cities like Granada, Cordoba, Seville and Rhonda, that's a holiday I really want to do with DC when they are old enough for lots of trekking around and sightseeing.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 14/06/2019 20:46

£60 food shopping
£3 eyebrow threading

Really long day at work, looking forward to no alarms for the weekend!
