Going out for Sunday lunch later with bil. Hoping he's paying as we have no money Grin

Sounds like you're having a great time em.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 17/03/2019 10:53

Great dress jam.
Em sounds like you are having a lovely time. Great news on the car up grade too.
Thanks life, no I'm not going to see her, but I'm talking to her daily and things are being sorted out, just not as fast as we would like. Just hope it all works out.
DD1 is coming down in a few days so we can have a proper chat then.

Those with experience of 11 year olds in year 6 how the hell do you handle the my teacher has her favourite and I'm not one of them, she ignores me?

Wolfcub · 17/03/2019 11:17

Ah Life that’s a really tough one. I would perhaps test the logic of what makes them think that and then do your best to reassure. I think it’s difficut to raise with school unless there’s clear evidence of the favoured child always being picked for things like lead roles and even then if it’s a ptfa or governors child you may not get anywhere.

£19.10 breakfast for two st the garden centre, they are definitely making an immense profit on drinks Hmm

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 17/03/2019 16:35

Happy St Patrick's day!

Home now and spends were ok.
Train £7.75
Sainsburys £8.40 on things I forgot
Poundshop £4

RoseMartha · 17/03/2019 18:42

@lifelongfrugaleer i dont know as with mine it was me seeing the teachers expression after school and just asking me for a quiet word. With me thinking what have they done now?

I spent

£5.20 in co-op.

£8.62 at kids adventure place where we are members money went on extras like ice creams and slushes and a coffee for me. (Took picnic which saved a bit of money).

Justanothermile · 17/03/2019 18:51

Thanks for the dress compliments. Dd is chuffed and feels good. I'm mildly concerned about her because she's constantly studying and never stopping at present. I wouldn't mind, but she's accepted an unconditional offer. It wouldn't matter if she flunked her exams but she's not the kind (unlike DS..).

life. Tricky. But what wolf said. I hate being cynical but there always some kid that gets picked for everything and can do no wrong. Was never either of my two for sure.

Ah curvy, I hear 'ya. Your child is struggling and you are so far away. It's agonising. You never stop wanting to scoop them up and cuddle them. X

Result on the £40 chocolate!

What Garmin life, I'm a Garmin nerd....

Agree wolf, what fun with the accessories.

NSD.

Evening! Lovely day with bestie. Time for birthday Chinese now! £6.

Bornlazy · 17/03/2019 19:43

Hello everyone. I haven't posted for a while as I have been struggling with everything staying frugal. My dad died very suddenly and it has really knocked me for six. I knew I would be upset but think I totally underestimated just how much it would affect me. We had the funeral last week and it was lovely, but think I actually feel worse than I did before it.

Everything just seems like too much work...I had to renew my car insurance and my house insurance and I couldn't even face going through cashback I just stayed with the same companies.

Will catch up with the thread soon. Hope everyone is well x

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/03/2019 19:52

BornFlowers there are no words lovely, sorry to hear that. Come on as you feel you can and the insurance will bide for this year.

I'm going to have a chat about dd losing her 'sparkle' for school and see what's what. Do an I've noticed, let me here your side and leave it, for now. A couple of incidents are tangible some not so.

Unescorted · 17/03/2019 21:16

born so sorry to hear that.

Sneaky Happy Birthday. Hope it was a good Chinese ...and if it was let me know which one because the ones over here are rubbish.

sea hot cross buns are just an enriched bread dough. Use plenty of butter, hefty amount of yeast, egg, milk, sugar and leave it to rise for a lot longer than expected. Add fruit at knockback/ shape& second rise stage. I quite often add flavour to the milk by scalding & infusing.... earl grey tea, orange, cardamom, et al. The crosses are a dribbled on flour & water paste added half way through cooking. glaze with sugar syrup.

jam that is a lovely dress. DD got one from eBay and hacked it about (when you get them for a fiver it is easier to be brave)

Curvy you need a hug. We are all here for you.

wolf lovely to see you too.

Cag I am finding that I need to supplement duo lingo with more structured things... I have had to learn the more commonly used verbs and am going to do pronouns - which seem to change willy nilly so need to settle in my head if they are running with gender (and if so who's.... him or his mother?).

Today I managed to spend £140 in Aldi...how is this possible?

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 17/03/2019 21:25

Happy Birthday Sneaky, hope you had a good day.

Thank you Unescorted, I was visiting my mum and had a really good chat with her about DD1 and the situation with P and I feel a bit better about everything.

Girliefriendlikescake · 17/03/2019 22:06

RubySlippers77 · 18/03/2019 09:38

Hi again everyone - it's been an unpleasant couple of weeks for me, shoulder pain and tummy bug. DTs fighting like there is no tomorrow, DP telling me how tired he is all the time whilst leaving me to deal with squabbling children. My frugal intentions fell by the wayside a bit but am starting again today Smile

I haven't caught up properly but congratulations to em on your DD (and well done on talking things through with your DH!), and born, what a terribly sad time you have had. I hope you manage to look after yourself in these tough times whilst you grieve, and sending you Flowers too.
