Frugal win, off to a free cinema screening of the kid who would be king :o it’s a school event mainly (intofilm is a film education thing) but home edders have access too :)

Then going to Nando’s with some of the friends who are also going, so somewhat less frugal, but I get a custard tart so it’s all good. :o

I think I’ve only ever heard of Booths on this thread! We are very much south of the Thames here :o

I always end up not planning food shops. Really should get back to batch cooking etc but was thrown by DH being here full time, lovely as it is :o I usually do it for the days he’s working so I can just microwave something healthy but of course he’s here to sort things. However he’s also knackered and in pain, so between us we aren’t doing well and have been spending far too much on easy food. Need to find the balance between convenience and healthy. In particular we should plan lunches better.

No real news on DH BTW, he’s been signed off another month as his job is just not compatible (the reasonable adjustments are impossible to accommodate without just employing an extra person anyway). He’s still waiting for a particular job to be released as he’s been told to go for it.

Lonely hope DP gets his results from the scan soon? DH has had his blood tests back and it’s all clear, so looking more like degenerative disc disease.

ememem84 · 08/02/2019 08:50

Waiting for my appointment.

Wolfcub · 08/02/2019 09:03

Good luck Em

Good luck em.
Cag could you do one of these meal delivery services where they plan and deliver all the stuff for a meal?
I've never used them but it might be worth a thought?

Lovemaltesers · 08/02/2019 12:08

There's a news story today about a couple who haven't turned on their central heating for 10 years and saved £15k. I don't think we're that frugal here Grin

I need to do a bank account switch for the cash switch incentive. It's been over a year since my last one

Wolfcub · 08/02/2019 12:09

£114 Sainsbury’s including a jumper for me and jeans for ds and lots of tins for my brexitwanker cupboard - all things we eat regularly anyway so nothing will do to waste

Checked dates and tidied my normal dried goods cupboard

House cleaned apart from vacuuming upstairs as I can’t carry the vac today and mopping kitchen floor which I’m feeling a bit like there’s no point as it’s raining. On second load of washing

Rest of day will be spent sitting on Arse as I am jiggered

Cag fingers crossed the job gets released at the right time for dh

Love nationwide are doing a recommend a friend switch which is £100 each for the joiner and recommender but there’s a good list of switch opportunities in Martin Lewis’s newsletter this week.

North my £50 credit for using your referral for bulb came through today. Hope yours did too.

So. £44 later. And I’m signed off until Wednesday. Dr didn’t even hesitate. I was with her for about 30 minutes. She said the feelings of not ready are totally normal. She didn’t feel ready for her no2 until he was 2 months old...!!!!

I’ve got a sinus and throat infection. Antibiotics in case I don’t feel better in 24/48 hours.

Cancelled riding tomorrow. Spending the day netflixing/catchuptving.

Currently watching yesterday’s eat well for less and eating a fishfinger sandwich.

Lovely email todayfrom a charity a trust I work on has just sent a serious chunk of money too. £45k to help impoverished children In Central America. Email made me cry. Ffs.

ememem84 · 08/02/2019 12:21

Thrown a load of laundry in the machine. And have sorted another load to go in.

Cagliostro · 08/02/2019 12:38

Well done em 💐

Have been tempted by those services TBH but they are sooo expensive! Plus the caglets have such issues with food we would find it difficult to get things they’d eat.

WreckTangled · 08/02/2019 13:15

Pleased you'll get a bit of a rest em

£66 Aldi
£25 Sainsbury's (including new scales and knickers that are way too small Angry took the label out too)
£30 fuel

Meal plan:

Burritos
Chilli
Pizza (homemade)
Fish fingers (veggie burgers for me)
Veg curry
Pasta and sauce
Veg tagine and couscous

Cagliostro · 08/02/2019 13:37

Missed the last half hour of the film as DS got freaked out :( it was a fab film but the monster warrior type things are scary TBF. Will possibly use one of my free passes to see it myself :o

In worse news, DH got a letter from the hospital... degenerative disc disease. Osteoporosis.

WreckTangled · 08/02/2019 15:14

£22.50 travel insurance for holiday in August

Justanothermile · 08/02/2019 15:34

I've never heard on Booths!

Ignored lonely and did 20 miles this morning, I don't do ill, I've no time for ill😁. That pain sounds tough to live with for your DP.

I'm in a good mood with DH at present as he was amazing last week so I'm ignoring his mess sprawled through the house and clearing it up for him. He even took the dogs out this morning so I could get a run done early, never mind he works 70 hours a week and me about 16, bless him.

Aww cag, not great. Do you have to see the GP or consultant for lifestyle and medication advice. Your poor DH. I believe there much to be done to manage the condition and dietary changes too.

Hope you feel okay soon unescorted.

Spends today were an extra £20 to the cleaners, they had an extra hour and decided to gut my living room for me and clean all my internal windows, I never asked them and they didn't expect the extra but bless 'em, they didn't need to.

Justanothermile · 08/02/2019 15:35

Did you utilise the Meerkat offer wrecked?

WreckTangled · 08/02/2019 15:50

No jam because it was £10 cheaper to go direct (and 10% TopCashback). We can't afford the cinema even bogof we would need a babysitter and the nearest is an hour away so really not worth it.

Justanothermile · 08/02/2019 15:53

Fair enough, just thought I'd mention. I bought a days insurance last year for £3 to utilise the offer. I'm not sure we've been since actually. 😁

Cagliostro · 08/02/2019 16:02

Am more numb than anything just yet TBH jam
Yes I think diet can help stem the tide so to speak and he will still have to exercise which is good for him because if he was told to stop running I don’t think he would cope.
His regular job is going to have to go though. I think he can have until the end of March on full pay but not sure after that. If he gets this other job it will be a moot point of course.

ememem84 · 08/02/2019 16:19

Oh cag I hope you and dh are ok xx

LonelyOversharer · 08/02/2019 16:42

Week of work done! Hoo-rah. It's been a long one, but so very busy.

jam Grin I knew you'd be running the second you could stand upright without passing out.

cag thats a bit shit for your dh. But having answers is good, even if they are not the ones you want. I'm expecting a lot of dp's deterioration to be arthritis (he has bones like girders) but as he has a specific injury site I'm so hoping they can brace it up inside somehow to stop anymore crumbling away and squishing the nerves. If you need simple easy food for now, do it. Don't beat yourself up that you are not cooking from scratch every night. Remember, your pip money is to make your life easier. If that means you spend it on easy food, then so be it.

Dp is making my tea! He has taken the sahp role on now. It took a few rocky months. Gammon joint in the slow cooker, chips (home made, gotta love a deep fat fryer) and beans. All in for 5 of us, about £5.

Cagliostro · 08/02/2019 16:50

That is true. I remind myself of that when we get the odd taxi too (far fewer since moved though due to improved location!)

Anyway, he’s been referred to osteoporosis specialist person, and surgeon too, he might need spinal fusion or something. Ick.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 08/02/2019 18:14

Evening all, glad to get to Friday it's been a busy week.

Dd has had a lovely b day eve so that's great, I'm really excited about her b day tomorrow as think she will be so excited about her presents! !

About to start making her b day cake. ..

em glad you've got a bit of breathing space.

cag sorry it wasn't better news for your dh.

jam 20 miles?! You're mad, you know that right? 😉😂

Have we lost seacow ?

LonelyOversharer · 08/02/2019 18:16

My dp was not keen on fusion as it would mean he could never ride a bike again. As his injury is right at the base where you bend over. He is now willing to visit it, as a trade off for pain reduction. Which without the (rather large) quantities of tramadol and morphine he takes tells me how bad it is now, and how fed up he is.

The chips were epic. All crispy crumbly around the edges.

Jobs for the weekend involve cancelling sky, talking to bt about the broadband, steaming the grot off the stairs, and painting them a jazzy colour. I have a tin of bright teal, a lovely blue/purple and some eye searing magenta. The stairs have been stripped/undercoat for 10 years Shock, not pretty stripped, but I must paint over this quick stripped.

And crochet. Lots of crochet. I have gone a bit crazy for it just lately.

AdoraBell · 08/02/2019 18:32

Fingers crossed for your DH Cag

Well done em

Few spends today

£4.05 coffee and cake
£2 birthday card for friend
£4 ish in bakers
£6 ish on eggs and chews for dogs

DH is home, asleep, MIL is in hospital and he’s helping to look after her. Glad he’s stepping up, but he’s exhausted.

northender · 08/02/2019 18:54

Wolf I got an email today telling me that you're now a Bulberino??!!
Love I'm with Nationwide if you did decide to switch to them. I've never done the refer a friend thing, but I'd never done a referral for Bulb either & that all seemed quite straightforward. We had our first mortgage with them and have always kept a current account with them since. We have another current account too which we try to switch now and again.
Jam Not just back running, but a long one too! Can't believe you haven't come across Booths. There is one a couple of miles from your ds. It's not the best one, maybe in need of updating, but it would give you an idea of what the fuss is about!
Em sounds like you have a good GP
No spends today. Busy day at work. Ready for an evening of tv, reading and list-making (lots to do over the weekend).
