I've been trying different moisturisers out and have figured out that plain olive oil is the one that agrees with me. The internet says that dermatologists approve, so I will have a go. Cheap as chips, and can be used to cook them in an emergency.

I also use bar soap, but liquid shampoo. I had no idea that bar shampoo was even a thing. I like that idea!

There are lots of different ones in Lush Autumn.
U get fed up with nits too. DD attracts them like a magnet. She is thoroughly combed and inspected weekly. Every 48 hours if we find any. On the 2 occasions we've stacked off this routine they have spread to all of us.
Trying to meal plan and do online Tesco order but I can't remember what sorts of things we normally eat after all the festive food!

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 28/12/2018 10:07

Morning all.
Yes Jam she has work tomorrow and wants to finish an essay, plus already made plans for NYE. But I will be going up in the Feb half term.

My tip is to try and buy things in the sales and remember to use a student discount card if you have one, (I forget a lot to use mine) or take your older dcs shopping and use theirs!

Love that Amazon tip is really good.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 28/12/2018 11:32

Morning everyone, I got a bar of shampoo soap for Christmas and am looking forward to trying it out! Also have about 5 bars of actual soap which will last at least the year. I do sometimes find it dries the skin out a bit though....

We've come home for a bit which is really nice, dd is upstairs sorting out her stuff and I'm having a rest before sorting out my stuff! Girl cat is ignoring us but I think secretly pleased to see us 😉

Took dd to the Dr this morning, she has to have a blood test and ecg, she is booked in for Monday and is already stressing about the blood test. It's got to be done so am really hoping she doesn't freak out 😕

Need to sort my mum's birthday gift today so won't be a nsd.

ememem84 · 28/12/2018 11:33

I’m a fan of sale shopping. But only if you need it. I also buy a lot from eBay.

I’m going to have a mooch around the shops at lunchtime (boots specifically) and see if I can get some bargains.

Can’t remember who said they’d bought naice moisturiser. But in a few days boots will have the big reduction on their gift sets. I’m going to see if I can stock up on things. It’s usually excellent value. A couple of years ago I picked up a clarins one with double serum (almost full size - usually rrp £79), and travel sizes of various other things for around £12.

QuiteisbringingFrugalback · 28/12/2018 11:46

Morning
em I think it was Curls with the Elemis - this time of year is great for sets where you get a good deal.
Im trialling an alternative to L'Occitane Brightening Cream which I really like but is £54 a pop.🤤
The alternative is £7 and has SPF 15 as a bonus.
Will see-it is very nice.
Girlie hope your DD is ok
I use nice triple milled soaps and Nesti Dante is my favorite ,about £4-5 for a huge bar .Its very moisturising and non drying.
Current bar opened in October and Im itching to finish it so I can open a lovely new pristine bar.
I buy cheap stuff for everyone else Wink
Headlice -comb through every night with cheap conditioner and nit comb .They never get a chance to take hold.
NSD today

QuiteisbringingFrugalback · 28/12/2018 11:51

I didnt spend £54 btw !
I had a few samples 😇

Thatsnotmybaby · 28/12/2018 12:06

Hope everyone had an enjoyable Christmas.
I had a wander around the shops yesterday, mostly to get out out of the house and away from DC for a bit Grin.
Spends:
£28 hoodie for me.
£5 socks for me
£40 basics for DH including 2 work shirts.
£60 clothes for DC, all well reduced.
£22 groceries, mainly Christmas treats as I didn't buy much before Christmas as we were out for the main days but will be home for the next few days and I consider it Christmas till I go back to work in January Smile.

lillylollylandy · 28/12/2018 12:17

We spent most of yesterday stuck on the motorway - DH's family are in Birmingham so we were doing the Christmas visits. Never again. 5 hours to get there when it's usually 2.5, and then 4.5 to get back, as some poor sod broke down in the middle of the M40.

Ended up spending £30 on an emergency Burger King meal. No spends other than that.

DS has a high temp and is generally out of sorts so my plans for tackling the laundry mountain have gone awry, as I'm pinned to the sofa with a sweaty 4 year old lying on me. Poor wee thing. But should be a NSD due to being unable to get out!

em I need to stock up on Clarins. When do the Boots sales usually start?

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 28/12/2018 12:28

The Boots sale has started I think.... I buy myself nice face creams from the La Roche range, I rarely treat myself to much so don't mind buying this and it has transformed my skin!

Snuggly have you got a nitty gritty comb? That was the thing that sorted dds hair out in the end.

Have just spent £160 Shock £50 on Amazon on various bits, a few gifts for dds birthday and a few bits for me, all the items have been in the basket for weeks!!

£110 on 3 theatre tickets to see Anton and Erin in their dance show in Bristol, this is my mums birthday present, wasn't going to take dd but then realised it was half term so got her a ticket as well, will be a birthday present for her as well!!

Is it January and February that you don't pay council tax? If so I've used that money, if not will use savings and pay back from February.

SneakyGremlins · 28/12/2018 13:00

Afternoon!

Spent £0.36 today

ememem84 · 28/12/2018 13:12

Boots sale is on!

I bought some stuff for dsis for her birthday (Disney socks) some Harry Potter make up for me (hufflepuff and raven claw eyeshadow) and some bits for ds £34 in total.

Clarins has a lot of gift sets on sale.

Cagliostro · 28/12/2018 13:32

I was going to get either the make up “wands” or the Hufflepuff make up bag for DD if I can get them. Also I love the Botanics range in boots so will see. Annoyingly this is one year I could really do with hitting the sales as there are lots of things actually needed for the house etc, but I’m not up to it really. I should be organised and at least try some online stuff. Need to finish DH’s birthday presents anyway.

Girlie has DD been given some of the “magic cream” for the blood test? DD1 wasn’t offered it for her genetic test as too old but when we explained her issues she was given it. Or you can buy it I think. She was still scared but once she had it she realised the cream really is magic :o

I gave up and went to bed for a while as unable to stay upright. Managed a bit of a doze but still dizzy. Can’t believe one dose missed has this effect. Might employ Alexa to remind me in future!

ememem84 · 28/12/2018 13:54

cag order online.

AutumnLeaves12 · 28/12/2018 14:06

I've made chocolate swiss roll MkII. It rolled nicely again. The trick seems to be being too impatient to let it cool before rolling.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 28/12/2018 14:08

Have just spent another £20 on a Hype backpack for dd, her current one is a year old and on its last legs and this one was in the sale.

Dd is watching life of Brian, she loves it!!

*Cag yes she has, its whether she will actually put her arm out and let them anywhere near her thats worrying me! She had a huge meltdown a few years ago when her Dr tried, oh well she is a bit older now so fingers crossed!

AutumnLeaves12 · 28/12/2018 14:32

Girlie I know what you mean with the blood tests. We went through this with ds. He was 6 at the time I think.

OP posts:
SneakyGremlins · 28/12/2018 14:35

I hate blood tests even now.

Lovemaltesers · 28/12/2018 14:41

Recently I went for a blood test, she tried three different veins and couldn't get any blood out. I then fainted Blush The next time she didn't label the sample up correctly so I had to go back for a third time!

AutumnLeaves12 · 28/12/2018 14:46

I quite like blood tests.

SneakyGremlins · 28/12/2018 14:48

I need to go to Aldi for laundry items but I can't be bothered

AutumnLeaves12 · 28/12/2018 14:54

That's an extremely healthy attitude Sneaky. My dGP is trying to teach me to adopt that kind of attitude too. I'm still in the "could do better" category.

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/12/2018 14:59

£6 Tesco top up.
£10 petrol.

The only problem with soap in general is it’s made with palm oil.

SneakyGremlins · 28/12/2018 15:03
Xmas Grin
Wolfcub · 28/12/2018 15:22

Girlie I like La Roche too let me know if you spot any bargains

I love love love L’Occitane and got some nice bits from there for Christmas from my mum (h bought me their advent calendar last year and it was great for all my trips away with work)

Took water and coffee for the end of our walk. Frugally fixed another issue with the car with the help of df and then £7.50 at Sainsbury’s on naice tomatos, bread products and some meat for sandwiches. Toms and meat were yellow sticker

£4 parking at rspb reserve it’s gone up but they’ve put in better toilets and a new path so I think that’s well worth the increase
