Had to pick dd up from school at 11 today as she wasn't feeling well, so worked from home for a bit and then my mum came over so I could go back and finish my visits. Think dd is okay, she says she has a headache and feels sick but ate all her lunch and is watching YouTube videos now!! I'm still full of cold but slept better last night at least.

Another nsd, need to write a list of people and gifts left to buy for, might do that later.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/12/2018 17:21

Sneaky I looked into the free prescriptions thing and it’s clear as mud BUT the job centre should be able to clarify it for you and if you get free prescriptions you also get free dental & eye tests.

I got a refund on dhs pre payment certificate when he became eligible for free prescriptions.

Genuinely surprised checkoutsmart hasn’t had a free mince pie offer yet.

Quite Dh is shocked at the price of the Christmas turkeys this year. I reckon ours will be £40 but nectar points are paying for it. No way I’d be able to afford that otherwise. The cat will be happy to help eating it.

I saw a woman on Boxing Day last year with a trolley full of half price turkeys.

SneakyGremlinsBrokeTheSleigh · 05/12/2018 17:41

Thankyou Fluffy - mine has renewed to go out via Direct Debit every month a few weeks ago so will look into it!

Bornlazy · 05/12/2018 17:51

Fluffy I got a half price turkey in Aldi on Christmas Eve last year at about one o'clock. I will probably try for the same for this year as if I don't get one its no big deal as I'm working anyway and no one will care if I don't manage.

Quite my house needs a deep clean, but will have to make do with a superficial tidy (that's where everything looks great as long as you don't open the cupboards Wink)

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/12/2018 17:56

Ooh I did that one year too Born. I loitered in the poultry aisle with a back up turkey in the trolley and put it back when the reduced ones came out.

Pretty much made my Christmas.

SneakyGremlinsBrokeTheSleigh · 05/12/2018 17:57

Great mental image there Grin

Justanothermile · 05/12/2018 18:02

Marks and Sparks reduce to half price, I've been sad enough to buy a couple for the freezer, although didn't feel quite the same level of joy as fluffy....

In fact, I get cheese boards, port and all sorts cheap. You can freeze cheese. DH loves cheese.

Love a deep clean quite, I tend to do one room a week and let the cleaners do the standard stuff. I don't always manage it mind.

I need to update spends but a strict policy of no tat and agreements in the family that no adult buys another adult relative pressies, plus grown up nephews and nieces has severely reduced Christmas spends.

SneakyGremlinsBrokeTheSleigh · 05/12/2018 18:11

This weather makes me depressed.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/12/2018 18:17

One of my lecturers used to be suicidal every winter till they put him on ssri's.

I wasn't the only one loitering by the way. I was probably the most dressed up.

I miscalculated my mb yesterday, I made £15 not £11 by underlaying 😎

Wolfcub · 05/12/2018 18:50

£5 eyewipes. Rough old day at work. Having a whisky to get over it.

Also have a painful frozen shoulder - probably tweaked something dragging my wheelie bag up the station steps or into the boot last night. Does anyone have any tips on getting it to release?

Quiteisnotinthedanceoff · 05/12/2018 18:52

Fluffy thats not bad for a turkey. They are £60 plus here from the farm shop.
Stopped it a few years ago.
I dont eat it so we have a joint instead 15-20 quid plus a ton of sausages

Trees are also a criminal rip off .
I adore a real tree but due to costs and cats I got a huge fake one in John Lewis sale for £100 about 8 years ago.
We always took DC to choose a tree when little but its tough now Im not paying £70 for a decent tree.

Im with you Jam love a pre Christmas deep clean and I have also cut back .
Its actually such a huge relief to step down and I asked my BF if we should stop presents for our respective DC.
She bit my arm off ! Grin
Martin Lewis a couple of weeks ago was campaigning for this.
DO NOT get into debt to buy extended family and friends presents !
So stressful.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/12/2018 18:58

It’s a crown....a whole birds more. I was going to get frozen so I didn’t have to go near a supermarket so near to Christmas but they all had milk protein added 🙇🏻‍♀️

Quiteisnotinthedanceoff · 05/12/2018 19:07

Sorry to hear you feel down Sneaky
I always nose dived at this time of year so I started to try and preempt it .

I take Vit D spray and increase my exercise and develop a bring it fucking on winter attitude Grin
My pain is upper body but my legs work Grin
Ive got an Amaryllis on my window sill currently and I like seeing it grow a little each day 😍
Sounds silly but a little thing like that is really helpful .

Quiteisnotinthedanceoff · 05/12/2018 19:08

£40 for a turkey crown Shock
Glad its a freebie then !

Kitkatmonster · 05/12/2018 19:12

The weather is pretty depressing at the moment, I really dislike grey drizzle. I’ll take crisp frost or warm sunshine but not the wet, soggy days.

My DD couldn’t manage nursery this morning. So another home day. I’m starting with it too now.

Today I bought supermarket own brand calpol, tixylix and some chicken noodle soup £6.05.

What exactly is matched betting?

Wrongwayup · 05/12/2018 19:14

Sneaky is it that you can't go out for your walk? 're support I also meant family and friends. Sorry just trying to figure out your circumstances and I am nosey

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/12/2018 19:14

So am I Quite

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 05/12/2018 19:20

Long day at work, we had parent conferences. Also tomorrow my tutor is coming to observe me for the last time and then it is just a case of finishing any last bits that may be outstanding.

Today I spent some time with the child I will be working with in January.
Those of you who have children with ASD, what would be the thing(s) that you would want?

Spends £1.01 on postage
£3 eyebrow threading

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 05/12/2018 19:27

It's only going to be me and my mum eating turkey at Christmas so think we're just buying a breast. I also think the trees are a rip off, we've a fake one in the loft that does us every year! Will have to get a new one at some point I guess.

Have just watched The Notebook with dd, love a good romance although 😢 at the end.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/12/2018 19:39

KutKat www.teamprofit.com here you are.

SneakyGremlinsBrokeTheSleigh · 05/12/2018 19:42

Wrong I have a brother who comes up once a month (only met him three times in my life) and a best friend who lives two streets over.

I can't go out when it's pissing it down - doesn't help my mood really Grin

AutumnLeaves12 · 05/12/2018 19:43

Ds has to dress like an Irish child for his nativity play, in which he is singing his first solo. Does anybody know what on earth I could dress him in that will not make him look like a racial stereotype?

School suggests green all over, but I don't think he will look very nice in green all over.

AutumnLeaves12 · 05/12/2018 19:43

Curvy someone who would get to know my individual child for the unique person that he is. Definitely. The fact that you're asking is a great sign. Two things to ask: What are his strengths and what is holding him back from pursuing those?

Unescorted · 05/12/2018 20:48

sneaky it was really grim this morning. I nearly drowned waiting for the train. Take heart from the fact only a fish would have enjoyed being out today.

On the Vege front peas, beans, salad all did really well this year in my garden. Granted we are about 100m lower than you, but we got a wicked blow off the low for ages. Not he place to have a comb over. Soft fruit also did well with a bumper crop of gooseberries and currents. Plums and apples not so well due to the late frost / rain &wind just as they came into blossom. Herbs always do well.

Em hope he feels better soon.
Sea sleep well tonight.

I have had a spendy few days... New pillows because the ones dh bought gave me such neck and back issues I had to buy new ones. Bus fares for smalls, wine for me. And I was in London today..... I had to remortgage the children to buy lunch. Note to self: read email that says lunch is not provided. How do people afford to live there? London weighting is only £3,400 for my job so that is not even going to cover the difference in train fares.

Wolfcub · 05/12/2018 21:06

Unescorted I know what you mean. It costs a bloody fortune
