Flipping heck life

Hi Chocolate

I will post all my saved threads for the new frugaleers to peruse.

ChristmasSeacow · 06/08/2018 09:14

Sorry for all the bad nights Sad. It was bad here too - no idea why but DS woke up screaming at around 1am and didn’t go back to sleep till 4ish, with regular screaming. I feel Blush at having no doubt disturbed the sleep of the people in the adjacent holiday cottage. He’s still very agitated and screechy today but can’t say why (for new people, he is almost 6yo and has ASD, significant language difficulties). I am shattered and feeling a bit down today. He also wet the bed this morning (through his nappy Hmm) so the bedding is in the machine now.

I didn’t spend much in the fancy shop in the end yesterday. Jut £5.95 on a pair of socks with oystercatchers ob, as I have a soft spot for them, and DH/DS had a cake. I did then spend £40 in Tesco but mostly on nappies, wipes, Orkney beer and some wine. We don’t normally drink much but are having wine most evenings since we’re on hols Blush

We’re off to one of the islands today on a car ferry. Exciting! Packed lunches all ready.

Flappyjack · 06/08/2018 09:51

Morning everyone.

Loving the cute baby photos 😍 DS2 is 4 but sometimes falls asleep in the car, mouth open wide, catching flies. It's a great look.

em I've owned rouge noir for years and recommend it. It lasts for ages. I put a base on first though because it stains my nails otherwise.

It took me ages to get into a budget of sorts. I wrote down a years worth of spending first and totalled it up. Biggest shock was the amount I spent on toys trying to keep DS2 entertained. I also do the want/ or need question before I buy anything. My general problem is not earning enough. I've been offer a job which requires DBS checks which has taken a month and still counting. Wish they would hurry up...

Spends yesterday £10 on ice cream x 2, parking at the beach and chips and sausage kn the way home. We stayed down there until 6pm. The sea was lovely and cooling.

WreckTangled · 06/08/2018 09:57

I'm wearing dungashorts today. Feel a bit self conscious though not sure I'll keep them on!

mammynowanauntyIRL · 06/08/2018 10:02

Wreck 120 rolls ordered from my bed €40.48 almost half the price of last weeks per roll & 3c per roll cheaper than the cheaper one I was going to order this week.

Scandi were you here before? We had a danish lady with two DD's before Smile

QuiteCleanBandit · 06/08/2018 10:07

Where are the loo rolls from mammy?
Sea Flowers
My neighbour across the road has 2 DC with SN and its really obviously different from the bloody noisy lot ND .
We completely understand the DC cant help it and for them its a coping mechanism

StoogingOn · 06/08/2018 10:17

Flappy I also got a huge shock realising how much I spend keeping ds entertained. Once I figured it out I cut back, but sometimes I save up the money and spent it on one big thing rather than a lot of small wasteful things. For example instead of buying a lot of cbeebie magazines in the holiday I might save for a month and buy rollerskates instead, which last forever and are more useful. I never would have done that before.

My other opposite shock was realising how little I spent on myself, and how much I spent on retail therapy, that I should have been spending on actual medical care. I have adjusted the budget a lot now and it is much much better.

Thanks Bandit. Sadly not everyone is understanding but many people are kind.

I cross-posted with Life earlier, ouch!

We are at the ferry ‘terminal’. It’s tiny. There’s loading space for 8 cars and1 HGV. I don’t think it’s going to be a large ferry Wink. Peeing my pants because apparently I have to reverse onto the ferry. I’m not good at reversing at all but DH is worse I get really stressed because for some reason DS screeches when the car goes backwards. So I avoid as much as possible. And our car is quite big with poor visibility and I’m rubbish at relying on the camera thingy. If you don’t hear from me again you’ll know it wasn’t good.

Raining and windy here too.

ChristmasSeacow · 06/08/2018 10:22

DH Just told me the ferry was£22 each way for the car. Rousay had better be good, even in the rain!

ChristmasSeacow · 06/08/2018 10:30

Here comes the ferry!

StoogingOn · 06/08/2018 11:08

Christmas your ds could probably stand on the dock with your dh while you reverse. Then they could just walk on. Good luck.

I can't remember who mentioned about the DBS, but mine recently took just over a week and it was an enhanced one. Over a month seems a very long time? Unless where I am going to work has priority for DBS clearance maybe. Might be worth checking that they've actually sent it off?

StoogingOn · 06/08/2018 11:14

I think it depends a lot on the background of the person Love. A friend of mine from Hong Kong took eons to be cleared for Scouts, even thought his UK record is impeccable.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 06/08/2018 11:22

Quite groupon I've got them before but wreck reminded me. 5.05% cashback from topcashback too, unfortunately mine didn't track as I'm on groupon.ie.

Seacow could Dh get out with ds & let you reverse on in peace?

Shopping list done, going to divide it into SuperValu and Aldi now so that I reach €80 to get €11 off with coupon

ememem84 · 06/08/2018 11:41

Not caught up. But holyfuckamoly. I have a court date for moving house. 17 August. Fuck.

Lawyer called this morning and said it was likely to be 10th as buyers mortgage offer expires next week. I panicked. Then he called back just now and said 17th. Phew.

So. Plans all cancelled. And I’m going to declutter and pack etc. In the evenings.

Fuuuuuuck me I’m moving out. And on 17th we are going to be gazillionaires* and mortgage debt free

  • not actual gazillionaires. Just a nice chunky bank balance.
SnugglySnerd · 06/08/2018 11:43

That looks lovely and peaceful Sea. Wish I could escape there for the afternoon! Day from hell here with exhausted ds crying constantly. Luckily the dts are napping now. Let's hope it's a long one!

Desperate for a quick lunch I made cream cheese sandwiches with cucumber, cherry tomatoes and crisps. DD1 thanked me twice for making the best lunch ever. Why do I bother?!

mammynowanauntyIRL · 06/08/2018 11:55

Ooh em the rush is on! I'll be sorting stuff here in the evenings too so we can compare! 10 days Shock is that before or after your dhs birthday?

Snuggly your dd is a sweetie Grin

SnugglySnerd · 06/08/2018 12:08

Ooh exciting, Em!

lifelongfrugaleer · 06/08/2018 12:16

How exciting and stressful at the same time em.

Drain is going to cost at least £210 to be cleared more if it's root issues

Bornlazy · 06/08/2018 12:25
