quite I remember now I did submit DBS online 😶

My memory is clearly on strike.

I wonder why it took almost three weeks to receive a confirmation text. They have sent me a reference number but it won't let me check the update on the website...gah.

ChristmasSeacow · 06/08/2018 15:36

Love the ‘holiday’ shopping in Aldi Smile.

I’ve been impressed with the Aldi baby wipes etc I bought a couple of weeks back but there isn’t one here, just a Lidl. Anyone got any feedback on their baby stuff? If it’s not too bad I will try to pop in tomorrow on the way to the airport. I have enough nappies but will need (yet more) wipes before long. Otherwise I’ll get the Tesco ones, I think they are okay too.

ScandiLady · 06/08/2018 15:41

Thanks fluffy Blush
Auch life regarding the plumber bill...
Am finally home after a day of 2 times grocery shopping in slow motion speed Brew ...

ScandiLady · 06/08/2018 15:43

Fluffycloudland77 · 06/08/2018 15:44

cag www.johnlewis.com/brabantia-built-in-bin-black-10l/p167201 I have this one. It takes wilko smartprice pedal bin liners and means I have to empty it every night.

I've been thinking about storage space and I've decided to cut the fabric on the underneath of our divan bed. We have two drawers but the other half is wasted storage space. I have a bed wrap covering the whole thing so you wont be able to tell.

Doing a list of things I wont pay waitrose prices on like bread flour and veg.

WreckTangled · 06/08/2018 15:47

We have a curver bin

QuiteCleanBandit · 06/08/2018 15:49

I have a Super Human bin.
Brilliant -no broken lids like another well known company

lifelongfrugaleer · 06/08/2018 15:53

Yes on top of this morning plus one more bill but that should just be call out as they were here less than an hour

mammynowanauntyIRL · 06/08/2018 15:54

She's not here anymore scandilady but was really nice & she often did stuff with her grandmother too!

Quite fluffy would say if you've got the money, storage & you won't use more because of extra stock then go for it. Mine will be 10 x 12 packs so I'm thinking attic perhaps, office would work if it was cleared out too.

I've spent quite a bit in town & not finished yet so will update soon, nothing wasteful though.

StoogingOn · 06/08/2018 16:00

We have this in the bathroom Cag but we actually bought it as a child-proofing wall to stop ds from climbing up the shelves behind. I don't think it would be very hygienic for kitchen rubbish but it's fine for the bathroom.

Gosh this thread moves fast! Thanks for all the welcoming messages!
I’ve spent the day painting. But had to spend £38 on new switches/rollers etc!

CurlsandCurves · 06/08/2018 16:23

Flappy that’s a pain re the dbs check. My dad is self employed as an umbrella company for dbs checks, so companies send their employees dbs checks and ID to him to check and send off. I do the job when he and mum go on holiday several times a year. It’s interesting. We find on average a dbs check takes around 12-14 days to come back, as long as everything’s straightforward. Obviously we get those who have had 7 different surnames (honestly!), or loads of different addresses. But it shouldn’t take too long once they’ve got it.

Just done the weekly shop with DS2. Came in about £10 under budget and £20 of that was suncream, shampoo, conditioner and a new razor for me. So I did quite well!

SnugglySnerd · 06/08/2018 16:26

We have a curver bin. The lid is broken. Would that be the company you are referring to?!

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 06/08/2018 16:28

Just caught up! May be a bit late to the conversation but I buy bits as I see them reduced or second hand for Christmas. Dds have quite a few bits already and haven't spent loads. E.g. they collect shopkins dolls and I've bought a few for £5 each posted rather than the £16.99 in the shops. Same as I got dd1 a pikachu build a bear she is desperate for with outfit for £7 posted.

Spends today £20 in co op on food - did 3 for £10 on meats, plus some reduced gluten free bread for the freezer, a gluten free Tiffin bar, some reduced meat (meatballs for tonight and a big box of southern fried chicken for 85p which I will cook and the kids can have as lunch/snacks next couple if days), mushrooms, penguin bars for puddings, beetroot.

£12 in the factory shop - new lunch box and drinks bottle for dd2, parcel tape and wardrobe dehimidifiers.

£10 on eBay for new 2ds case and 2 games for dd1 birthday (Got sent a £10 off £20 spend voucher which expired today)

I'm also decluttering here, aiming for 150 things listed on eBay this month. 2 bags taken to charity shop this morning. Going to sort out dd2 clothes and the bits I kept from dd1 this week as mil gave us a bin liner full of jumpers, skirts, dresses all of which dd loves so need to make space!

QuiteCleanBandit · 06/08/2018 16:52

No Snuggly
It was Brabantia

QuiteCleanBandit · 06/08/2018 16:53

Renewed Insurance.£86.33
We were overinsured and so have saved £190 Shock

WreckTangled · 06/08/2018 17:04

Oh we've had our curver for ages and it's not broken.

WreckCat is not happy that it's still hot

ememem84 · 06/08/2018 17:34

christmas yes. Ideally they don’t want us there any longer than necessary which I understand. So I’ve spoken to estate agents today and have said we’ll be cash buyers on 17th. So find me a new house. Suddenly they’re interested in us. So fingers crossed. I’d love to be able to sell and within a week know when we’re moving on again.

So this evening I’m listing on eBay. And will be starting the declutter.

Dparents have ds today. So we’re going to get “the talk” about the house rules this evening. Which is fair.

I’ve had it before but dh hasn’t. So he needs to hear it from them.

I’m excited. Panicked. Stressed. But excited. And can do this. And am feeling so so positive. No time for that negative shit.

Laska5772 · 06/08/2018 17:39

The other Dane was ItalianViking i think..

em what happened on that house you told us about ? Did you offer ?

TheDuchessofDukeStreet · 06/08/2018 17:44

Fluffy, the Vanish is sodium carbonate peroxide which sounds very similar. I could give the Astonish a go, thank you!

Fluffycloudland77 · 06/08/2018 18:08

Your welcome. Those in wash stain removers are either oxygen bleach or enzymes.

Quite You are wracking these savings up.

QuiteCleanBandit · 06/08/2018 18:45

Im on a mission Fluffy after the elec/gas debacle.
Have pointed out to DH who was very pleased that this is still a household task and therefore I have the time and energy to do this now he has taken on his fair share of stuff.
Have saved about 1K annually with pet insurance, household insurance and utilities .
Considering my options with VM as they have cut channels but not my bill.
We dont really go out so want to keep cable/Tivo

WheelyCote · 06/08/2018 18:46

Parking and lurking recommences

Flappyjack · 06/08/2018 18:49

curls thanks for your reassurances. I actually phoned dbs today and they told me max two weeks, then my employer reference will take another week on top of that. I'm torn because I really want to start the new job but I am also trying to make the most of so much time off in the summer holidays. I am also very bad at waiting. For anything.

Spent an hour and half cleaning, ironing and making home made flapjacks while DH took boys to the park. He came home with Rioja and orange and almond dark chocolate 💑
