I mix and match online, Aldi and Sainsbury's in store. I would do get online in your situation lonely.
You can send back subs your don't want, thought Asda are best for price matching these. Anything that looks a bit dodgey fruit wise send back to. Cashback through top cash back as well.

lifelongfrugaleer · 15/08/2018 07:25

House sounds lovely em. Is it like the Scottish system once you are under offer you are committed?

Tip today, town for odds and sods, cinema for Incredibles 2. Dd chose cinema over pony club so that saves a bit of cash.

Going off line from tonight until 27 th as on holiday from stupid o'clock in the morning

ChristmasSeacow · 15/08/2018 07:27

Ah Mammy, it’s not really a row about division of Labour (I’d had my say!) it really was about the books. Or at least, my frustration with DH’s complete lack of common sense, which I suppose he can’t really help. But he moved the glass from the bedside table to the floor so DD couldn’t knock it off there. But she CRAWLS! He does stuff like that all the time, it’s bloody infuriating. He’s a highly intelligent man but completely useless in a practical sense.

Kids up at 5.30 today so I feel your pain scandi! It’s dhs turn to have a lie in. At least the dc aren’t winding each other up (yet). The forecast for today isn’t too good, and same again tomorrow, so we might have a fairly low key end to this leg of the holiday! We’ve done everything we planned to do apart from a boat trip around Scapa Flow - I think they are cancelled due to wind forecast. Might manage a windy walk each day but won’t stray far. Maybe I’ll get some holiday reading or knitting in! We leave on Friday for a one night stop near Perth and then on to Durham on Saturday. Home Home the following Friday! I am looking forward to getting home but feel very conscious that my work there is never done, mainly because of ongoing maintenance tasks and a lot of clutter! I really need to tackle both.

Cag I think it’s a matter of what you are used to. After Hellman’s the Tesco mayo tasted strangely sour, but if it’s the taste you’re used to I expect it’s fine - and you might find Hellman’s bland! I am trying lots of own brand stuff this trip because I’m doing more shopping in person, in lots of shops. I went to Lidl yesterday. Bought wipes, which are fine but not as good as Aldi’s (which are more moist). The whole nut chocolate was very good too Wink, better than Cadbury’s. I am not enjoying the Tesco extra life wholemeal bread though. Forced into this purchase by empty shelves - there’s not a lot of fresh food left in the supermarkets here after the weekend till the deliveries come in on the boats. It certainly makes me appreciate the easy availability of stuff back home and Amazon Prime

life sort of. But no. We don’t have exchange and completion as such. Just completion. But once we’re under offer we can pull out at any time until hands go up in court.

So with our apartment sale, the buyers could in theory turn around today and say no. Or change their offer. It’s be very bad form. But it’s been known to happen.

Similarly once we get a survey done on the house if there are issues we could lower our offer to reflect any issues.

lifelongfrugaleer · 15/08/2018 07:47

Ah sea I will miss your Durham leg as I'll be away. I would have found you for a coffee.

CurlsandCurves · 15/08/2018 07:47

Morning!

em the house sounds great, looking forward to hearing how you get on once you’re in.

Lonely press that button!

Just having a coffee and working out all the stuff I need to do in my head. Such a middle class problem, but there’s always so much to do before going on hols. Luckily I’ll have some chill time later when I go for a pre holiday pamper- mani, pedi, brow and lash tint.

lifelongfrugaleer · 15/08/2018 07:49

Interesting em, thanks

SnugglySnerd · 15/08/2018 07:53

Aldi and Lidl mayo are OK imo but I'm not a big mayo eater. DH and dcs like it too.

Aiming for NSD after yesterday's shoe fest!

mammynowanauntyIRL · 15/08/2018 08:09

I've eaten aldi mayo for years but I use so little of it, it's grand or so I thought until I bought Hellmans last week on offer in order to get a 'free' coolbag and wow it's so much nicer, but I can't upgrade them at home due to the quantity they consume, my jar at work though can be Hellman's Wink

WreckTangled · 15/08/2018 08:22

We have Tesco mayo too cag Grin or Aldi. I'm not fussed.

Dh still hasn't folded the washing from Saturday and I'm not doing it. He left for work before I got up today.

I'm doing the food shop this morning thanks for all the help. Have written a list with the prices next to them so should be ok.

Does anyone know if there's ever any free delivery codes for George at Asda? Dd wants the swimming bag from there but our nearest is about 30 miles away Hmm it's only £4 and delivery is almost as much!

ChristmasSeacow · 15/08/2018 08:34

I’m the only mayo eater Mammy and not loads so the extra cost doesn't really make any difference. Go for the posh office mayo!!

Lonely I spend a lot less shopping online and get that time back with my family. That counted for a lot when I was working full time.

Life that would have been fun! Enjoy your holiday, you too Curls

BreatheSlower · 15/08/2018 08:40

Christmas Do you have the wind coming against the windows there? I used to love to sit in and listen to the sound of the wind and the rain lashing against the windows. That was such a cosy feel about that.

BreatheSlower · 15/08/2018 08:41

We have 12 posts to go btw, if someone wants to work up to starting a new thread, in about 11 posts' time.

ScandiLady · 15/08/2018 08:48

My dds normally never wakes up that early so quite surprised.
Dd2 daycarer had emergency surgery yesterday so ordered a buket of flowers to be delivered to her today, 25£

lifelongfrugaleer · 15/08/2018 09:09

Wreck, Asda sometimes will deliver clothing stuff with a food shop? 2 birds and all that

Sea, let me know if you need any more info about the area

WreckTangled · 15/08/2018 10:11

Life I hate the Asda food shopping website!

Food shopping done. £36.07 I found a bit more change in my purse. Was pretty embarrassing paying £4 in coppers Grin anyway I feel like we're fine for food now. This wouldn't have happened if the tax man hadn't taxed me 40% Hmm we will be fine again next week anyway. I feel good to have managed a cheap week shopping as it has reminded me that I don't need to be spending £100 every week.

QuiteCleanBanditlovesdresses · 15/08/2018 10:31

I do Ocado online shop -never any issues and always get offers .
Saibsburys were terrible for short dates.
Ordered and everything-salad,meat and cheese ran out that day.
They did refund but incredibly annoying as it was Easter weekend.
Then they did it again...
