How to make money this weekend

A combination of my own stupidity and new job has left absolutely skint. I currently have £3 in my account to last me until the 10th.

(An old debt caught up with me, bailiffs around and I had to give them every penny I had. This was at the same time as starting a new job. I was last paid on the 23rd Feb for half a month, to last me until 10th April when next pay date is.)

Luckily I’ve got my DP so don’t have to worry about bills and he will also feed me. However he is pissed off with me (rightly so) so food is all I will get.

I still need money though, as I want to be able to treat DCs over Easter with Easter eggs and the like.

So, without bashing m for my stupidity, can you please help me with some ideas of how to gather some cash? I’ve already posted some items for sale on Facebook. Any other ideas?

Your kids only need one Easter egg

Newnaime · 24/03/2018 09:27

return any items of clothing in your wardrobe that still have labels?

gotosleeep · 24/03/2018 09:29

Ask family for a loan or do some work for them around the house? Babysitting, offer to clean your parents/siblings/ friends house for like £20 or something. If you know anyone with their own business, ask to pick up a shift or help out?

Lycrasock · 24/03/2018 09:29

Thanks newnaime, but unfortunately I haven’t got any of them...

Aldi and Lidl do 99p eggs. Cadbury Creme egg etc.

Lycrasock · 24/03/2018 09:31

Thanks HRT, I didn’t mean that they need several Easter eggs, but that Easter will cost money seeing a it’s a special holiday. Even lambing / Easter egg hunts cost money. Nice roast on Easter Day etc

I don’t want to borrow money unless I have to. Will see if there’s any shifts going anywhere...

Could you do a car boot sale?

PlaymobilPirate · 24/03/2018 09:33

You can't afford hunts and roasts this month.

Sell stuff if you have it... otherwise, have a quiet one. It won't kill you or the kids

gotosleeep · 24/03/2018 09:34

If worse comes to it, then literally just borrow £20 and try to get everything on the cheap. Go to Lidl, b&m etc. Let your partner sort out the roast and pay him back on the 10th of April.

Hope you get sorted soon!

HarrietKettle · 24/03/2018 09:35

Lambing?! I don't think many people do that at Easter unless they are a shepherd Confused

HRTpatch · 24/03/2018 09:41

Even though its Easter you dont need to spend money.....a roast isnt mandatory and you can do a cheap as chips egg hunt.
If you haven't the money don't get into more debt.

Lycrasock · 24/03/2018 10:35

Have one through drawers, pockets and handbags. Found a £10 scratch card, £9.31 in coins, £1 old coin, £50 M&S gift card, £100 ikea gift card and a £20 next gift card.

Although I won’t be able to actually use the ikea or next gift cards as I’ve got no stores nearby. But I will be ok! Thanks for all advice Smile

Wow. That's a haul.

darkriver198868 · 24/03/2018 12:37

Could you do instant surveys like Qmee? I make an average of £3 a day doing them and I can cash out any amount.

Chienrouge · 24/03/2018 12:40

That’s quite a haul to have lying around. Well done

Rarotonga · 24/03/2018 12:40

Is there anything you can sell on Shpock?

mrsreynolds · 24/03/2018 12:44

You could sell the gift cards on fb if you are doing to sell for less than face value...

mrsreynolds · 24/03/2018 12:44

£50 in m and s food will buy a lovely Easter Sunday lunch :)

Amber0685 · 24/03/2018 12:46

Thete is a site called Zeek that you can sell gift vouchers on. I haven't used it so not sure if it is any good.

LonginesPrime · 24/03/2018 12:56

Luckily I’ve got my DP so don’t have to worry about bills and he will also feed me. However he is pissed off with me (rightly so) so food is all I will get.

Well, that all sounds very healthy.

GerdaLovesLili · 24/03/2018 16:05

Can you sell the gift cards you ca't use on Seek? www.zeek.me

LadyFlumpalot · 24/03/2018 20:01

Stick the gift vouchers you won't use on eBay for £5 below face value. I did that with an M&S one and it was snatched up on buy it now within a minute or so,

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 24/03/2018 20:10

However he is pissed off with me (rightly so) so food is all I will get.

Shock Sad I think some people misunderstand what the word partner means. I’m so sorry youre in this situation OP. Your “partner” doesn’t sound very partnery. Life throws curveballs, one of the reasons we partner up is to have someone to help us through our bad days. Not punish us for them. When you’re back on your feet and less financially vulnerable maybe have a thunk ha out whether he pulled through for you when you needed it.
